The Goddess gets picked first. (Amaterasu team compilation and team strategy)

I incorporate Cold Star in Nova’s combos after any combo ending with jump S. You land, call cold star, then do L. Centurion Rush -> M. Centurion Rush -> H. Centurion Rush-> Super or Sj. H -> Super.

My incoming character mixups vary. I like to do a normal jump up, then dash up, and hit S and Assist at the same time. It pretty much forces your opponent to block on their way in and they will fall into cold star. Other ones I do is to dash forward towards where the opponent would enter the screen and hit them with H and call coldstar at the same time. If you’re opponent pushblocks your H you can land the almighty untechable Marlin Pie guardbreak throw afterwards. If they don’t pushblock they’ll fall nicely into cold star. Last but not least, I do the Infrit ambiguous Centurion Rush H, except with Cold Star. Pretty good on characters with no air dash.

When my opponent is trapped in Coldstar it’s pretty much High/Low shenanigans until they get hit. Sometimes I’ll use the Cold Star lock down as an opportunity to place a Gravimetric Pulse H between me and my opponent. That keeps them trapped in the corner and you can use that as a way to make your opponent hesitate. If they try to jump to escape you can throw them. If they’re content with waiting out the Pulse, then harass them with mixups.

So what is your Nova team? Just Ammy and Akuma like w/ Task? I’m on the hunt for a point for Doom Ammy, so those 2 are non-negotiable. But Nova is my front-runner right now for sure. Plasma Beam and Cold Starseem really good for him, but plasma’s kind of a bitch to confirm off of from a distance, hehe. I guarantee Nova is sick with a tatsu too. But again, Doom Ammy fo LIFE lol

Oh yeah, in an effort to get your combo last night, I had a friend on the phone watching that vid trying to describe what you did lol But he doesnt know shit about Nova, so I couldn’t really figure the air part out by his description, but it def sounds like you’re not doing standard fly/unfly stuff. Some kind of wall bounce in your air combo, then sjS from there? <shrug> Ill see if I can check it out on my work comp after hrs if no one’s around to ask me wtf Im doing lol

I actually dropped Akuma from my main team :frowning: Mostly because people recognize my Taskmaster and Ammy the most. Plus they’re more fun haha. So yeah, Nova, Task, Ammy.

As far as my combos go I do go for the fly/unfly loops depending on how I confirmed the combo. I’m probably not going to go for it if it’s not going to work. The one your friend saw in a video was mid screen and Task arrows and jabs had caused some hitstun deterioration so if I was going to take Unkn0wn to the corner I had to do something simple so after launch I just did MMH into M. Rocket punch (I think), which led to a wall bounce hen you can finish it with S.

My Nova is still relatively new, so I’m still working on complete optimization, but I get the gist of how it all works.

Right, I feel you on that. task is actually great in front of Doom Ammy too, but I liked Task soooo much more w/ Tatsu, that I said fuck it when converting to Cold Star. But yeah, Nova. Actually, I feel kind of bad infiltrating the good people of the Ammy forums with all this Nova talk, like I have to say “Cold Star” a certain amount of times per line before I’m a confirmed ass hole. So I guess we’re kinda sorta running the same-ish idea (Nova-horizontal-ColdStar). Arrows HAVE to be better for Nova than Plasma beam, at least for confirms (tho I do like the ability to clear my path, i must say), though the duo of Doom Ammy when they’re the only ones left are waayyyy too fun and too good. THC as a whiff punish into full Doom combo or, at WORST CASE, an insane Doom mixup. Mmmmmm. I honestly see VERY little reason to not play xxx Doom Ammy ever.

So if they start to get the message and block low, what would you recommend for a solo assistless anchor ammy?

I just need some kind of gameplan in general I guess. I play er primarily in solar flare, and I fear myblocked HHH into L paper or counter is getting stale. And when they chicken block so high/low isn’t even a thing anymore its even worse. I’ve been scoring ok with er oddly enough, but feel like its been a lot of luck and fraudulence lol

Anyone have any advice on opening people up assistless? I do go almost exclusively flare, but if the answer lies in glaive, I’m 120% game to switch it up lol. Is the whole df+H glaive dive canceled to solar flare weapon change a legit tool? Or just a one way bus ride to Scrubbachusetts?

I’m going Strange/Doom/Ammy. It is ridiculous the ammount of pressure and the quality of the zoning this team gets, not to say the increase in Strange’s damage output that both Doom and Ammy give to him. I gotta learn her ways as anchor asap.

Dear Ammy thread veterans, is there any place here with techniques specific for using the glaive and being an anchor? I am trying to search for it, but if you could help me out, I’d appreciate it a lot. :3

Watch this GF match from NorCal knockouts Btw X-Ray and Honzo Gonzo. They are really good Ammy players and the match has lots of Ammy 3 character comebacks in tough situations to get a good idea how to play her on anchor with pressure, they show good ways to get in, open up an incoming characters and resets.

What are the advantages of actually using this over Thunder Edge?

You can use this in conjunction with the Thunder Edge to better transition into an assist cuz it has less dmg scaling which gives you more time call it , i would say its best used with reflector stance cuz you can use S into SJC Power Slash for more than usual Dmg and you can do that in glaive too.

paper doesn’t have fixed untechable time anymore so this isn’t free and is only very rarely worth going for!

What are the situations where it’s worth going for?

paper > okami shuffle is quite good at neutral.

Hey, it was really good in vanilla 'cause :qcf:[:l:] :h: :d::h: :qcf::l: wasn’t consistent midscreen, so paper + an assist was the go-to thing to use there. Not needing that assist was obviously huge, and with certain ones you could still tack on extra damage by doing :s: ~ paper ~ OS. It was just killed in Ultimate because :h: :d::h: :qcf::l: now works on everyone and paper was also nerfed for ultimate.

Just came back to thank you guys. My Ammy is way better now, and I only see her improving even more thanks to the content you develop in here. Great stuff and a big shoutout to all of you, She’s become my main for sure! :smiley:

Does anyone have a way to DHC from Veil of Mist to Astral Vision mid-combo to get a Soul Drain series going? I imagine this works, but I’m an Amaterasu noob.

Hey Karst I’m pretty sure that w/ ammy you could do her move into head charge the H version that causes a ground bounce then call veil of mist and then immediately dhc into astral vision and then steal some meter. Also In sword mode you could do the diagonal H move and do the same thing or maybe after a full charged air H sword move go into veil and then dhc into A.V since all of those moves cause ground bounces.

Thanks ILNY. I’m still on that never-ending quest to find a third for Morrigan/Dormammu, and I figured I’d give Amaterasu a shot since she has some solid solo capabilities, and my point character basically have to be alone. I’ll give this a shot.
