The GGPO Discussion Thread

If anything, I’d say newer games are better due to being made by inexperienced gamers and the emergence of a forgiving and careless community around their products. Whereas, before, fighting games were solely brainchilds of a small talented group, today disregard channels of feedback from the community even before releasing their game. Their holy grail is making it to EVO. Also I’m an adult now and I like to think my stuff is legit. I prefer to pay for my things and I like to keep them in order and take care of them. so yeah, my music has to have album art, metadata and be high quality and that goes for my worklife and my gaming too. The whole GGPO thing sounds too finicky and bootleg for me to mess with it. But I might give it a try once I understand more just what the fuck it is.

I have fixed the message just so it becomes clear that some of the logic is (hugely) flawed.

The following is probalby what you meant by your analogy:
Just becuase you own a computer and I dont, doesnt mean you are rich and I am not; implying that what I dont have ($$$), does not have any consequence on the perception of what you do have (or that the relative difference is meaningless).*[–btw this is wrong imo, but anyway–] * Likewise (you made the analgoy that): Just because you write the queen’s english and I dont, doesnt mean you are super genius; similarly implying that what I dont have (intelligence in this case), does not have any consequence on the perception of what you do have. The 2nd statement only amkes sense if you accept the assumption that a knowledge of grammar is indicative of intelligence.
Also, regardless of whether many peole who are not poor dont have computers, it should be obvoius that my point is that I am not one of them; my point was not that I am poor becuase I dont have a computer (I dont know why you would even argue this against someone who is telling you they dont have $$$)
Allow me to mention that I also think yor uanalogies/statemetns are flawed themselves because wealth (rich vs. poor) and intelligence (smart vs dumb) are both spoken of in comon conversation strictly in relative terms (as i was obvously dpoing).

The reason your statements dont make sense is because you often use words that you dont understand, in very loose contexts. If you’re going down the relative/subjective route, then anything either of us says has absolutely zero meaning in this regard. You can say im rich, I can say im not, and even go as far to say that you are rich.

But my point was obvious, that having a computer doesnt mean anything in regards to being rich. Many poor people who have no stable income, or any income at all, have computers. Having a computer means nothing in the developed world.

I think you are missing the point slightly here. Buying games second hand is essentially no different to pirating. There are also very few instances where buying games from a retailer is giving developers money (but do it because the more money publishers get, the more risks they take). But yeah, you are really not gonna find a lot of these games anywhere but ebay these days.

no. Selling reallife used items shouldnt invoke any liabilities. Just because the developer doesnt get any $$$ doesnt put these issues (selling used items vs downloading digitale copies) in the same boat; as per the 1st sale doctrine.

FFS, everyone knows 20-year-old arcades that Capcom itself does not market not provides maintenance for will be hard to find. Any good lawyer should be able to even prevent you from being judged on the grounds that it is a petty cause and a waste of the country’s resources. The moment Capcom stopped fixing their CPS-1/2/3 arcade boards was the moment it was fine to emulate them. Stop trolling.

Simply put I won’t play GGPO because I cannot buy the games. If I could buy legal copies of the games then I would love to. But I am not going to become a common thief. As far as new games and old games, to define your self worth by what games you play and what games you refuse to play is just sad.

I remember Sven outright stating on Capcom-Unity that arcade boards are out of production. I’m normally against piracy, but when it comes to games that are out of production, the issue of emulation being “stealing” goes out of the window. If money is no longer being made on a product, it’s essentially abandonware. I know it’s technically illegal to download games that are classified as abandonware, but eh.

Firstly don’t have a PC only a Mac and can’t really be bothered using a windows emulation system.

Secondly I wouldn’t really want to play (fighting) games in front of my computer. I like the comfort of a couch and table (for stick).

I stopped because I’m tired of playing the same people in Super Turbo. Every time I play somebody new it’s one of three scenarios: 1. I body them, and they cry. 2. They have serious lag and they make profane comments when I leave. 3. They body me and make profane comments while we’re still playing.
I’d just rather not play online, unless it’s somebody I know and enjoy playing… e.g. DJFrijoles, Janus, etc…

You can output video from your computer to your TV given the make/model of them both. Another problem solved by… Booty Clapper! dashes off into the shadows

What I want to know is what exactly is this pen n’ tablet capable of that you feel like you would be cheating? Unless you can record a series of buttons in some way.

I was thinking you could use the pen as a D-Pad, and there are these buttons on the side that you could assign to do a series of button commands. You could also assign entire combos to certain pen strokes. Like a writing a “7” would preform a BnB. I don’t know if it’ll work but it was something I was thinking a about and just might be possible.
