I’ve mentioned SEVERAL times in this thread that GGPO isn’t perfect but its certainly the best we have. Which is what reading comprehension is for, you know to understand what people are saying?
Certainly a shitload better than scrubcade where input delays is turned up so much that it dupes idiots into thinking its so smooth its better than GGPO!!!
I build computers too and I don’t have any problems logging into GGPO or have had problems when I installed GGPO onto my friends computers. Apparently, supercade is just as buggy but you keep continuing to pump rainbows into that ass for whatever reason. The netcode is terrible, there are no good players and you continue to preach its worth. Who gives a fuck if GGPO is buggier, its the best one to choose from and only scrubs think supercade is actually good.
You’re argument seems to be well supercade is easier to setup therefore its better, derp!!! no mention about the severe amounts of input delay and no mention of that talentless hole it is. I guess the worth of a net code is how easy it is to setup coming from you proficient computer tech background right? but from a true players perspective, the worth of a net code is how well it functions through out a game, not how buggy it is.
Now you are making an argument out of nothing. I havent even been comparing Supercade to GGPO in my last few post. Just stating the mess that GGPO is in right now. Ive had no problems running GGPO till the last major crash it had and since then it just doesnt want to work.
So stop with the made up arguments, there are assholes on both services. GGPO is a buggy mess and when those bugs affect the gameplay it doesnt matter period what you are on.
I rarely can get people to play ST on GGPO, and I don’t recognize anybody on there anymore, with the exception of the regular GGPO monsters from Mexico/Brazil with the Taco Bell internet connections.
[sarcasm="Chachi, post: 6399902, member: 4039"People don’t play GGPO because Chachi makes fun of people with Taco Bell internet connections. [/sarcasm]
Eh… the subject regarding GGPO’s stability shouldn’t even come into question at this point. Being able to ignore trolls/big fat meanies is easy(especially in the Vsav room! <3) and the service is up pretty much every day. I don’t think I have to remind anyone about the PSN outage…
GGPO is plenty stable for being free to play, for us @ least thank you so much ponder\donations, that even bigger companies have a worse track record of down time. Absolutely irrelevant. Anyone mentioning that as a problem doesn’t know the GGPO track record.
you think port forwarding stopped afro legends from training online and eventually becoming a world champion? terrible excuse. Learn to use google instead of using it to search for porn. If you’re behind a school router and you can’t change it, yea you can’t do much. However some people playing from a school have accessed GGPO before so its probably possible and depends on the router I guess and how much access you have to it etc…
people shouldn’t be scared to lose 40 games in a row. losing = winning sooner or later. In fact, losing and winning are part of the same equation losing+winning = learning and learning is the entire goal the end result of learning properly is a lot of wins but no one starts @ the top. There is no shame in losing because any world champion before you even thought about playing sure as FUCK had theirs losses handed to them. To beast, you must be beasted.
alternate games build up different parts of the fundamental core as explained by alex valle and justin wong on several occasions. Justin in particular credits most of skills from mvc2. Games like ST\vsav\xvsf\kof98 and 02 are very good core building games. You don’t need to learn to master these games but players looking for ANYWAY to get better should definitely want to check it out and judging by how we added a “newbie dojo” I think more people should think about playing on GGPO and using it as an alternate training tool. Its personally helped me immensely and I’m definitely not a scrub
I too have more problems with GGPO than with Supercade/ArcLive. I’m not denying that the service works for most people who use it often though. I have my issues with Supercade and Arclive as well. To me, the medium doesn’t matter. I only play vs locals so the netcode is irrelevant because they play similarly. If I want to jam some games, we try GGPO. If someone can’t log in or the games don’t load, we switch to ArcLive/Supercade. If there’s more than 2 players though we generally go for ArcLive because of it’s multiplayer lobbies.
After I finally figured I can use the save state glitch to finally play 3s again on GGPO (Thanks MightyMar!) I’m hoping to return and play daily like I used to months ago. Hoping to regularly visit the ST room and again trying to catch the VS guys (you’re usually on when it’s 3am+ here)
