Sonics neutral is head and shoulders beyond anyone else’s, even GO’s.

You gotta remember he’s doing all that shit WITHOUT vegeta assist at neutral to help him out. If dude put vegeta oh his team instead of gotenks shit would be a wrap, for real.

hey ya figured it out!

Big reason sonic won is cause he finally figured out his truly unseeable mixups. Most mixups in dbfz you can fuzzy somewhat reliably, the stuff he was doing just wasn’t reactable, which means go1 becomes just like everyone else.

Yeah Sonic is the scum lord. He has solid neutral, but he basically tries to optimize set play better than anyone. He’s been known for that since Injustice and Skullgirls where people hated him for picking the scummiest 1 player characters. He turned MVCI from what was supposed to be a game where you finally didn’t die in one combo, to a game where you would lose a character to set play on the first touch (at least for a while).

GO1 will figure shit out though. He’s an anime lord and probably will study what Sonic came up with to create his own new set play cheese.

In before everyone is using foxes kid buu assist into neutral jump mixup. I already seen people stealing it over a month or so ago so it will probably start to really get abused now.

Normal jump to high/low mixup is the strongest mixup in this game. Too many options to cover it all.

For me the only way around is to guard cancel during Kid Buu’s assist to get hit by it and fucked Cell conversion. GO1 did it a few times and was able to escape the deadly mixup that way.

Dude even if you say SF won off the unreactable 50/50s, he still had to put Go1 in blockstun first WITHOUT a beam or vegeta assist. The only use of assist in neutral I recall was doing kamehameha into gotenks assist, which allowed for a dash up blockstring.

And his defense was trash. He got hit with simple shit like IAD crossup and IAD overhead, IAD overhead.

To be honest the game was already 50/50s with old vegeta assist. It’s just that now it doesn’t let you run a mixup and people overreacted to A. Gohan nerfs, so SF is the only dude with a team that is totally dedicated to that.

Fox actually stole that from go1. Go1 would do that all day with cell/Vegeta before the nerf

I’ve never seen go neutral jump mixup at all. Certainly not before foxes new team. Did you see it before foxes new team? Because that was one of the mixups I remember seeing him find on his stream iirc when he was first trying out cell.

Yea it was when he was training with go1s team to learn the ins and outs of what the team could do

A. Gohan can do the same with j236L

Anyone thinking we’ll see buffs/nerfs tomorrow along with Zamasu and Vegito?

Stream today

Highly doubt it. Seems they make clear, specific points on when they decide to patch and it is usually a patch en mass. Probably just getting characters for a while.

Yes, I think he can make use of his creativity again, train a new team, and secure big things like EVO, and repeat. People just can’t figure out everything in such a short time.

This rules. Thanks. Assist kill combos really do differ from optimal bnbs, which is a good thing really. It adds another layer of knowledge required to do what you want.

I put in some work with this a little while ago, lost some steam when I noticed I was getting inconsistent birthday drop outs off of some characters’ air 5H smashes.

Using an assist along with spark during your combo makes the damage scaling so favorable that you usually only need one bar to get the kill. I even have meterless combos with Tien that will ToD a birthday assist, but the starters aren’t particularly practical in a real match.

Really the most important thing though is making sure you understand what combo routes won’t drop the assist. Even when you don’t have a 10k damage ToD, in real matches most happy birthdays happen when the assist has already taken some damage, so just knowing how to keep them in the combo will often net a kill.

One other aside- I suspect for at least some of your combo routes you can kill the assist without using a mid combo vanish. Might be worth saving that meter when it won’t also kill the point character.

I def tried excluding the empty vanish mid combo and was getting really inconsistent results since the assist falls towards you, a lot of the times they would just fall out by time whatever air special into super I would do, or when I would try to finish with a plain jump H the point character would fly to one side of the screen and the assist would be chilling either directly underneath my character or in the other corner :frowning:

Yeah, that sounds similar to the trouble I was having with jump H, good find if empty vanish solves that.

But for characters with an air special that does ground smash, I think you can usually do without the vanish. I never have a problem with Tien air volleyball fist, and wasn’t having any trouble with A.Gohan lvl 1+ air 214 L spinning backfist when I was labbing him.

I feel you, my AGohan combo was level 0 and in the case of piccolo their was no way for me to get high enough for Ex Chop to connect and lead to an assist kill without the empty vanish
