Hi
My name is Stephen, I’m 20 and from London, England. I am currently studying a degree in business IT and should finish in about two years.
My first street fighter was CE and I started to take it seriously when I played SFA3 on the GBA, (lol).
Gen was one of my many mains in that game but I only picked on seriously SSF4 came out. If your wondering, I use to main Honda (I don’t think I’ll ever drop him) and also picked up bison along the way.
Gen has now become my main in AE and I’m going to use him in my first major tournament (super versus battle in the UK), I’ve already used him in online tournaments and have won one thanks to his shenanigans (so it hasn’t all been in vain!!).
I don’t know anyone personally who uses Gen (hurr durr why you using that old man for, use ken or ryu you weirdo!) and in my university, I only have one good sparring partner who plays a scary as hell viper (I personally think this match-up is more random than blanka, either way, fuck blanka and fuck viper). We both aim to go evo 2012 for the experience (and hopefully get past our first match! plus i’ll be 21!, insert coin here I come!).
My GT is Kakarot13529
p.s. any chance anybody here is going svb, no? okay
I went to svb last year and fully plan on going again this year. Along with several other Gen players. You talk like you’re the only person in London playing the old man!
Which university are you in?
Also, you’re in London, get your ass to Picadilly Gamerbase every Tuesday and play the Winner Stays On lot, sparring with F Word, Slizzle, Andreas et al. will really up your game. Sharingan Mo is also in London (somewhere around Edgeware Road iirc) as is Ash P (check neoempire’s Gen forum you’ll see a fair few names).
To quote Russell peters “I thought I was the only one!”, I go to the university in Kent hence why I haven’t been to gamerbase in long time, I am currently spending some time in London so I will make a visit sometime (possibly next week). I played sharingan the other day! he was really good but I still managed to beat him!
Yo, I just fought you yesterday on PC, I believe. Fantastic Gen.
Hi, I’m Jake. I’m 21, live in Salem, Oregon, and I go by Redefinition in tournaments and online. I guess I’m what you’d call a “competetive casual” player. I would certainly like to get better, but I really don’t feel like I’m good enough for tournament play, so I don’t generally show up, except for once or twice. I’m fairly new to fighting games, started off with Guilty Gear, where I played Venom, in… 2008? Went back, and started playing some Third Strike (where I play Yang) as well. Picked up vanilla SF4 and played Vega and Akuma for a while, until a friend turned me on to Gen. Now I sorta waver back and forth between Gen and Yang in AE, trying to get good with both. I’m pretty awful with Gen to be 100% honest, but he’s so fun. I’ve got at least a decent hit confirm combo going on: (m)cr.lp, cr.lk, fierce TC xx hands or gekiro, but I really need work on both his defense and pressure. I know how to block, but not when I can escape or throw a DP or anything, and pressure is fairly difficult for me to keep up. I tend to just roll back to playing footsies after one decent blockstring ending in hands.
Edit: Forgot to mention. I sometimes play on 360 and PC, both under the current username I have on this site.
Hi, I’m Connor. Live in North-Eastern Michigan, And i Main Dudley, but have been looking for a Sub for a pretty long time and I think I’ve found him with Gen. Never really played fighting games but i did play MK and SF 2 on SNES and Tekken 1&3 on PS1 a bit. I decided to try them again because of the online so i tried SF4 Vanilla, and meh, But later bought SSF4 and really liked it. I am an awful Gen and am a pretty bad player in general but am trying to improve. No one plays fighting games around so online is all i got. I don’t know of any tournaments anywhere around me and don’t really have the means to get to them but i hope to compete someday. I play PSN…Name-Oconnigan… and use a pad but really want to get a stick soon. Anyone wanna play sometime, PM me
I’m shelving my 360 version. PC is prettier, I never lag, and I can record in HD with ease.
If you play PC, please message me for Gen mirrors (or whoever you wanna pick, I just wanna level up my Gen). I found Zaruka last night. I know D-proto and RedefnitionVE are on there (invites will be sent when I get home). Who else?
Hello Everyone, I’m probably the oldest Gen user in the room
Name:Ralphael
Location:Florida
I’ve been using Gen since Vanilla, I love playing a character that doesn’t have a projectile and you have to use other means to get in on your opponent.
I have a few of the top Gen’s on my XBL list…Some of you may recognize my name its the same as it is on here…Also DanteValmont…If been looking to add you back my friend…I need to do some XBL spring cleaning of my Friendslist. I’m looking to level up my GEN as well.
LeGENdaryKiryu I haven’t seen you on XBL in ages, HalfDead88 owns me almost every time with his Gen and I have no chance with LiC Me Sidewayz’ Gen. I’ve come across Yeb a few times in XBL ranked matches…I usually get one win in on him…but that’s it.
Hit me up whenever you want to get in on some mirrors.
MercuryShot. Real name Krys, just started playing Gen a few weeks ago and things just clicked. Got to 2800pp and B rank faster than I have with any other character, and would love to learn more. If anyone is up for some endless, please PSN me!
Hello everyone, i guess it’s finally my turn to introduce myself.
I’m jason from nyc. Been playing gen since alpha 2 days(capcom, please give him back his full target combo…thank you) err…where was i? During the first days and months of sf4, i didn’t take the game seriously enough until i started playing with gen. it took a while to get used to using his normals properly in matches since his crane oga was too slow to really be effective until super came out. i found it very easy to level up with him online no matter what system i was on(prob because people weren’t used to facing him and every gen has his own style of gameplay). Long story short, i still play him(mostly on pad for tournies but i’m currently converting to stick(it’s going to take some time to get used to). i’ve defintely played a few gen players on this forum. Here are my tags for the consoles if you want to get some games in(warning, i’ll mostly be playing stick so i defintely won’t be as good as i am on pad)
psn - shunwang
xbl - infinitemystery
pc - homerlovesbeer
pc 2 -(name pending)unless i can find the old one i used
Since so many people introduced themselves i figure i’d give a shot too.
My name is Casimir I’m 16 and I live in Lithuania even though i’m actualy Polish. I’m still at shcool (duh). Started playing street fighter since AE. A month or two after it cameout. I always loved fighters realy casualy so i tried to learn this one more in deep. Picked up gen only like 8 months ago. Started getting a lot better somewhere in march since i got the new fightpad and was able to do more stuff. I realy want to go to some tournament sometime in the future. At first in europe and maybe after few years to evo. Ofcourse this is all a dream and whatever shit might happen. I recently bought an xbox (no games yet). My GFWL and XBL are the same but since I have ae only for PC now I play only there. You can always add me if you want some sparring.
That’s about it. Now I feel like a damn kid here
