I was refering to the internet as a whole.
“Legends was canceled, we waited 10 years for this?”
"X game didn’t meet my standard, I waited X years for this."
etc. etc.
I’m picking up KOFXIII after Christmas: no point ushering in the new sins before finishing up the old ones (Ultimate). After that it’ll be a 3-month wait until SFxT hits.
I’m thinking about it The problem is I’m a grown up gamer. I run a business and I don’t have THAT much time for gaming. The next fighting game I buy will have me for the whole year. I’d like that to be the one where I can kick Nina’s ass as Cammy!
But I don’t want it to be the one where I have no other option than to do it while she lights up neon green and turtles while I can’t throw her. I have little confidence that Capcom is doing this for anything more than a DLC cash in. I’m sure it goes even beyond Ono…
If they can make a Street Fighter where you can choose the version of the character that has no super move or the one that does or any other numerous examples of custom modes (which they have) there is no reason they cannot include a “No GEMs” lobby for online play. You cannot make any argument against it unless it is for Capcom exposing everyone to GEMs without exception to maximize their DLC revenue streams.
So do I. Time management is something that everyone can do, so this isn’t much of a big deal. [S]And XIII is miles better than SFxT as of now.[/S]
[S]WhatEVER. We all know what Hwa Jai really needs is an Onslaught Gem so he can have more meter to buy more booze![/S]
I got KoF13 today for the Ps3 …damn I’m awful lmao…Working with Kula now trying to do her trials. to do 2x :hcb: :lp: after a dp is fucking insane wtf was atlus thinking.I’m not giving up though If my execution become better, it will help with other fighting game because input latency isn’t so forgiving in this game.
KoF XIII does have a tight learning curve - but once you learn shortcuts and specific timing of some moves, you’re just fine.
Go to either the XIII section on SRK, DreamCancel or Orochinagi to find more info. You won’t regret.
well looks like Capcom is doing the pre order to get gems. That was a bad move Capcom. Support dropped from 90% to 50%…Gems won’t be so bad if Capcom wouldn’t sell them…
Gems would be absolutely great if there were like ~30 coming with the game, all with very minor effects and all others (preorders, dlcs, brokenones like “autoblock”/“autotechthrows” whatever) being disabled in matchmaking as well as offline and in endless unless specificly stated otherwise.
It’d be a VERY neat customization mech with not too many options (so you don’t have to learn some bullshit like matchups on every char for 150 different gems) and casuals could masturbate over their special edition gems in arcade mode or w/e, plus you could play with beginners to FGs and give them some intentionally broken gems to make the start easier for them and have it be a less frustrating experience when playing against you.
The way it currently is, they’re a piece of shit.
I hate to break it to you, but it isn’t going to be the “casual” player who has access to pre-order gems; it’s going to be the hardcore player who posts on SRK and actually cares enough about the game to place a pre-order. Also, the whole “we should allow A but not B, but maybe C, but only if D isn’t too broken” thing you are doing in your post is what will kill gems in a competitive environment, not auto-gems or online filters.
I’m pretty darn sure that competitive gamers wouldn’t give a flying fuck about preorder gems which they can’t use. I’m also pretty darn sure there’s not only hardcore players who post on SRK preordering something like SFxTekken.
I’d be glad if you showed me the “allow A but not B but maybe C but only D if it isn’t too broken” from my post. I said: Have the game come with a limited amount and forbid everything else. No DLCs. No Special Edition ones. No nothing. The ones that AREN’T allowed then can be whatever the fuck they want to be since nobody has to bother with them if he doesn’t want to.
The last snip I don’t even understand.
Leaning more and more towards KOF13…
At this point I’m less interested in the game than if Capcom is REALLY gonna not acquiesce to the fans and offer a simple “No GEM” lobby for online play. I’ve done the math and I’m pretty sure -50K in sales would lose them more money than they could make on GEM DLC. How stupid is Capcom???
Well it is the company that included un-eraseable saves on that Resident Evil 3DS game… Total LuLz!
I’ve said it before, but as soon as I heard there was an SE, I charged out to Gamestop. As a fan of this game, I really want the full package. I don’t play online (for various reasons) but I don’t wanna miss any parts of the game, so I preordered it to get ALL the shiny things.
That probably puts me closer to the “casual” side of the spectrum, but fuck it. Actual “Casuals” won’t care, and will just get whatever pack Gamestop has.
I’m certain the gems that are in pre-order packages are already in the game and can be unlocked by doing trials or something.
Otherwise that’d give gamers an edge over other gamers who have ‘X’ gems instead of ‘Y’ and THAT goes against the whole “Gems balanced against each other” aspect. It also goes against Ono’s logic from SF4 – where you had to unlock characters, he didn’t want that SSF4 – he wanted everyone to have the characters from the get go and be able to use whoever they wanted freely so that one gamer didn’t have a character another gamer hadn’t yet unlocked.
Aside from the fact that gem packs can’t in anyway be ‘expensive’ DLC to purchase.
I mean for crying out loud I can get a whole freaking car in Forza 4 for 120 MS Pts. or get the whole pack of 10 cars for like 1,000.
If capcom had a gem pack for anymore than 320 MS Pts. (and that better be a lot of gems) then they’ve completely lost grip on reality.
BUT I said when online came to consoles in the first place with all this talke of DLC when it was new – I said "It’ll ruin video games"
it pretty much has. – I win
I would argue that anyone preordering the game at this point, with so little information released and so much up in the air, is hardcore given how much of a leap of faith they are taking. People who have a passing interest in the game and are going to play in casually when it comes out in March aren’t worried about running down to Gamestop and buying it in November.
So if an autoblock gem comes on the disc, then you feel it should be banned because that is ‘broken’, unless the players agree…hmmm. I agree with you that for tournaments and majors, anything that is an ‘exclusive’ is going to end up banned, but when players start complaining about gems that are included on the disc, that is going to be too much parsing to be worth it, imho. In your post you think it would be great if there were gems that were good, but not too good, except there should be gems that are too good to help beginner players, and gems that are too good should be banned, unless the players agree to use them…ugh, lets just play Marvel :).
Oh no, you misunderstood that. Anything that comes on the disc should be allowed. I just ~hope~ that they only include a small amount of gems on the disc and that none of these has a ‘broken’ effect. Since everybody can use any gem (provided they come with the disc!), the bad ones wouldn’t even pose that much of a problem (other than cutting down diversity and possibly dumbing down the game).
15 bucks for anti-rage quit gem (hot pink) You rage quit your system will self destruct. To counter that buy the anti selfdestruct gem (lavender) for 20 bucks. Make it happen Capcom
That would become the most valuable gem in gaming history. If only there was a decent anti-rage quieting system. But am shore many would not stop rage quieting. Short of the before mentioned exploding console, forfeiting your soul to the winner, or having to give up your kitten Mr Fluffy.
W/e leveling/ranking sysem capcom uses this time around should be harsh. Meaning quit during a match (rank) twice you lose a lot of points.
Sounds rather practical compared to. The mythical rage-quitter purgatory. As well losing points and ultimatly ranking down. Would be far more discuraging then most other punishments.
