I don’t think anyone is requesting they scrap the Gems. We would simply like a mode or lobby for no Gem play. The game has been played and demoed for over 6 months and many people have enjoyed the current “No Gem” build. It is retarded (but typical for Capcom) to not allow players the option to not use Gems. Their customers are requesting it, and they are completely ignoring the request. They obviously think some combination of DLC Gem sales and Newbie Gem lovers will offset any lost sales from those of us who are extremely disappointed with this mode. We will see, but if sales are less thabn stellar I hope Seth tells them “I told you so…”
Well… it IS a Capcom game… and majority of SRK posters are Capcom fanboys, so I’ll say these famous words:
“They will buy it anyways.”
Well count me as not one of them. Capcom had a Golden Goose here. A highly sought after property and burgeoning hype after players got their hands on it. Then they kill the goose by introducing this system that is trying to do two things: 1. Dumb the game down for newbies 2. Make DLC money.
- newbies were gonna buy it anyway. IT’S FREAKIN’ STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN FOR FUCKS SAKE!
- those GEM sales better make up for the sales they are gonna lose by making this a party fighter.
I SINCERELY hope 50K plus fans DON"T buy this game so that crapcom MIGHT start listening to their customers…

I still don’t fully see how they “scrub’d” this game up… and I’m sure CAPcom just might listen to us, IF we just, I don’t know, not bash them with childish whining and insulting (as a person who hates UMvC3 and did NOT purchase it and got Tekken 6/KOFXIII instead, don’t even try to call me a “Capcom fanboy”) however, has “DLC Gems” even been finalized? You never know we might get stupid waste of time Heroes/Heralds type of gems and not “Get Rich; Get Wins” gems.

Only thing wrong with Gems is the DLC bit. The system itself is likely one of the most groundbreaking things we’ve seen in fighting games in a long time.
I’ll bet you 10 to 1 if this mechanic was introduced in Darkstalkers many (including me) would be all for it. But SFxT is supposed to be a monumental moment in gaming, something we’ve all been waiting for years for. Is this REALLY the best game to introduce this mechanic??? Something that doesn’t much jive with ANYTHING from either franchise???
I can see Morrigan flashing green and flying across the screen at super speeds, Chun-Li not so much…
I bet if you polled the “Anti-Gem” crowd here a clear majority would say it’s less about the Gems themselves as much as the Gems being shoehorned into this crossover and killing our hype. They shoulda saved them for Darkstalkers.
I’m actually picking KOF13 up in March if there aren’t “No Gem” modes implemented. Crapcom will join the many companies who’s products I’ve dropped when they showed they were not interested in me as a customer. Life goes on…
might as well get kof13 this instant cuz gems are a core mechanic just like ultra’s in sf4
There have been games in the past that had things like disabled supers and disabled special move modes. It’s occurred before. i have no problem being patient. I’ve been on a fighters break anyways since SSF4:Broken Edition Update came out LOL! I have never been and will never be a fanboy. Lucas Fucked up Star Wars years ago and I stopped watching. My favorite TV show 24 jumped the shark a few years ago and i gave it up.
Crapcom is gonna do what they are gonna do. Whether they’ll get my $ is yet to be determined. KOF13 however does look quite awesome 
If you dislike Capcom’s games so much, why aren’t you buying KoF13 right now? It’s a good game.
That is what most people are doing at the moment. Also now we can call the gems the Onslaught Gem System or Short the OG system
I thought the Onslaught Gems were going to be used to summon Onslaught a la Exodia. Now I’m all hyped up for nothing.

I’m not referencing EVERY game just this one. It’s analogous to a Mario Sonic platform’er crossover where they decided to add Mega Man like lasers for Mario and Sonic. That’s how out of place I (and many others) feel the GEMs are in this game. If you disagree that is of course fine. But it massively killed hype for quite a few of us.
Pick XIII as soon as you can, seriously - the game is THAT good.
Otherwise, you’ll miss a solid game just because of “being loyal to SFxT” (for lack of a better term). At worst, if SFxT turns to be halfaway decent, you’ll have two good games on your hand.
If capcom pulls up their end with the Netcode in this game… Then alrighty then. KofXIII is soooooo good!!! i was just playing it earlier. I’m just messing around with HD cancels.
