all i got to say about that is…damn…just…damn…
excellent editorial from Keits in the home page. I agree with all the points he made. I think capcom made/are making some majooorrr mistakes with this game. I think this game will be more of a “party” game than a serious game… meh…
How can people even consider buying a game that cant even make new character models? Is this thing seriously full priced?
So it’s finally confirmed, as if there was any question at all, that the super-exclusive gem packs contain gameplay altering gems. Perhaps the comparison to MtG was because Capcom expects players to invest as much money into this game as Magic players do into theirs?
Capcom has historically had difficulty with the implementation and balance of subsystems and variations in their new games. How do you think they’re going to do with balancing the myriad gems? It’s too early to say but they do have a dismal track record.
That dude hit the spot hope those Capcom officials are reading to save their ass.
1.) Agreed no DLC gems no advantages for pro, mediocre or scrub players, same options for everyone
2.) Better button configure menu, people are saying the BlazBlur 2 w/e it is call has a very good button configuration menu cop that Capcom.
3.) Make a way to pick Gems fast ( don’t put to much in)
4.) No glowing character when gem is activated, only let the gem glow in the slot and that’s it
Crazy idea: If you don’t like the Gem system. Don’t buy the game. Send a message.
I don’t mind the gems, to be honest. It makes things interesting, rather than having the same fighting system each and every time.
Seems like it would be fun. It’s a horribly unbalancing mechanic, but fun.
Maybe there will be a tournament edition in the future.
Balance is all well and good, but one mustn’t forget those who just want to have fun with the game. Not everyone is gonna play each fighting game competitively, after all.
agreed. i want to like the game tho. i hope this shakes out in a reasonable manner
This is pretty much where I’m at. I haven’t been following the news that closely but I can’t imagine that there isn’t a way to just ignore these things outright. Not even Ono is that crazy.
Or you can just… you know… play different games.
we get a cool innovative version of both street fighter AND tekken with post release assistance for the balance and you guys are STILL complaining?
why don’t you moan at namco for whoring out tekken tag 2 at arcades instead of releasing it now for consoles? how much more money does arcade play require? as westerners we buy too much worthless shit we regret but spend buckets on things like drink and ciggarettes. by buying gems the game expands in depth
being critical about the game logistics is very important but complaining that its not like a normal fighting game kind of makes me laugh, this community will never evolve at this rate
Damn man seems the Gem system is forced from what I heard.
Lets just hope it is somehow balanced. They must feel the system is really that important.
The system may work out in the end. The general public is a big nay to this one lol.
How about everyone just equip 2ATK, 2DEF, and one SPD.
Hooray for balance~! :encore:
What’s so innovative about making tournaments take 3 times longer and pay2win?
It’s a complete disaster from a competitive POV.
When will you realize the problem is in the execution, not the idea itself?
Chaos Breaker did it fine. Capcom so far does not.
Gem packs may not put on the financial hurt people are expecting.
The exclusive pack as well as other pre-order packs will probably be time released as DLC available to everyone. Also, packs may not even cost as much as we’re expecting. Packs could even be only 50-100 msp each for all we know.
TO’s are the only people required to buy all the packs. I don’t think it’s realistic to assume the team you main requires at least 1 gem from every available pre-order pack.
how many capcom games fighting games have you played/bought that used the same sprites?
also the ENTIRE tekken side is new character models, + Hugo and Poison
QFT
So it looks like you were right about the gameplay exclusive gems.
But I still think Keits missed something that could be done… **Just allow the gems that are on the game and unlocked from the start. **
We’ll call these the "tournament viable gems" and be done with it. Those will be the only gems allowed in tournaments. If there are 50 or so gems right from the start it really shouldn’t be a problem.
