Before Pandora mode, this game was looking great. Now it looks like a clusterfuck of different game mechanics. As someone who doesn’t have any consoles, when I saw that this was announced for PCs, my honest reaction was “oh that’s nice…wait, I’m not excited about this at all”. Completely lost hype for this game.
I don’t see the need to yet. Besides we do not know the full effect it will have on a character (or do we? I admit I haven’t followed sfxt lately.)
i don’t see what’s so bad about it. the trailer actually made some good points about getting a read on your opponents playstyle if you know what gems they have.
i’m not so sure about buying gems (?) or people getting certain gems just because they got the special edition… that’s sketchy to me. but if it’s not totally unreasonable i don’t see why they couldn’t be a part of competitive play
worst case scenario, what do we do? as d3v says, bans the shit. Don’t get why ppl are so “Ahh my hype meter is low”
Uh, you guys do know most likely this won’t be implemented to the entire game, right? From what I saw, the Gem System ONLY applies to Mirror matches. Maybe I’m wrong but it looks like it’s just a mechanic to specialize your Ryu from your friend’s Ryu. If you rushdown, boost his offense. If you zone with Hadokens, boost his defense. And so on…
This isn’t some mechanic that’s gonna make the whole friggin’ game broken, and honestly, you’re all overreaching. The same was said for X-Factor (though there is some truth there,) and the same has been said for Pandora; which, I remind you, is optional. So could y’all chill on the drama before we get complete & total info on this?

I don’t know what you saw man, nothing in the trailer hinted at it being ONLY in mirror matches. Honestly, that would be pretty dumb in itself. Like… did you think this through?

Furthermore, they seem to be selling them in packs of 9.
I’m not a Noob, man. I may restate the obvious but I always think things through before I post. The opening caption said “Mirror Matches take on a whole new approach,” which made me think it was Capcom’s way of making them unique.
As for Gems not being localized to Mirror Matches, I still don’t see the reason for the outcry. Most likely, like Pandora, it’s Optional. Meaning it won’t be necessary for you to buy/collect gems just so you can have a chance in a match online. Me personally, I think it should be confined within Mirror Matches but if Capcom wants to experiment, oh well. So long as they aren’t shoving it down my throat saying “This is how it’s gonna be, love it or leave it.”
And I don’t get the feeling that they’re doing that with the Gem system.
Honestly, I don’t think TOs will be willing to shell out for this.
Either ban the DLC packs or ban the system outright.
