The Gem System Thread

There has not been any test locations with the Gems fully featured in yet, and thats what were most worried about. Slow your roll.

But in league of legends there’s nothing that boost your gameplay that you cant buy with in-game points , i think that would be the wise thing to do for camcom.

Like you get points for each ranked online match , you can buy gems with points or with $ , that would be ok.

by the way auto block , auto tech gems are an activated buff like red one’s? if so they are so bad (im ok with it) , i mean , the enemy activated the auto block gem? simple dont attack him or go for command grabs , it gives you some advantage since YOU KNOW he’s gonna block , so your not gonna lose your time going for overhead , low or crossup mixup.

Thank you Captain obvious~ and im not tripping in the slightest, i just find it hysterical is all~ as i stated before i got no problems with Gems, and i think they can work, i don’t believe they will be perfect the first build they are introduced but i think with time they can smooth out the bumps as time goes on.

if only more people thought that way tho…

and about the auto block/tech Gems, they seem all that great think about it all…they give up stock to block…after they use the stock to block your attack, their punish just got that much weaker because of the reduced meter. In reality it mite not be used often, if not at all…as it dont seem like it would be popular… at a glance but who knows…it mite be good for those who dont know how to block crossups and giving up a bar to save yourself from a deadly 50/50 is worth it…its hard to say basing it solely off speculation.

if anything my guess is…the Cross Guage Gems are going to be the most effective ones…Meter is everything in this system and with a way to increase or potentially decrease your opponents meter, that is effective.

but it can go either way…i havent the slightest clue in what Assist Gems do~

 That fucking picture. Lol

I personally still dont know about this, as some people said that i’ve read in the SFxT thread, this game is like a cake with a little bit too much icing, or as M.D. said

I understand adding variety in the game. I guess they want it to be similar to CvS2 with the variety of grooves. I just hope they stop soon, because it kinda feels like there coming to a point were there adding to much.

Gameplay vid from the other thread, this shit had me cracking up, there just ALOT going on at this time in the match, Now add the variety of Gems to this battle.

Spoiler

I just hope everything turns out for the better. I still want to get into this game because I like some of the ideas, and they got my Rolento in here =D.

I don’t think gems will be something you want to rely on. They need to be activated before they work.

In other words, unless the Autoblock gem is on you’ll have to block manually, and so on.

Not necessarily. When they demo’d the gems they had to activate the damage gems but the autoblock gems required no activation.

I don’t get people complaining about these new systems.
They are just adds, you don’t have to use gems if you don’t want to.
At least they are trying with something new and different, but still you can play the game with no gems or never use Pandora.

If they don’t add new things people complains. If they add things, people still complaning. Anyway.

Which is even better, because the guy will never have meter since every time he blocks he’ll lose one stock.

pretty much, his own gem will be screwing him over in the end~

After SSF4 people shouldn’t have any problems holding down back

And seeing how Meter is a HUGE part of your strategy in this game…
I don’t think giving up meter just because you suck at blocking crossups will be worth it.

Honestly I was proud of Capcom to try something new, but then I seen DLC gems…are you fucking kidding me Capcom…seriously. It’s ok keep fucking you’re fans over and even the ignorant one’s in streams chats will turn there back on you.

Better things like System Direction then entire characters (sawp Blazblue, MK, and Mahvel). You can deal with someone having a slightly different stat, but what happens when you’re faced with a matchup that you’ve never had before due to not having experience with the DLC?

But you can play against them so you can get experience with the matchup… And they require actually making a whole new chracter, not exactly the same as just putting some stats on a gem.

That said I have no idea how the gem system works, the gems people are complaining about sound likethey are terrible (no meter?). I might not be a good player but I played this game a decent amount at BAM and it’s pretty obvious how important meter will be with things like cross cancels and (cross assaults? The tag team super that does ridiculous damage). I wouldn’t judge the system until you see it in action, it’s actually could be a really cool feature, just hope it’s not as ridiculous as soul calibur weapons where some just destroy the gameplay.

Meter or no meter. Auto-Block & Auto-Tech Throw is scrubby as hell & pretty uncreative. It also seems like these Gems activate automatically. :bluu:

I like the idea of Gems. But its in neither Street Fighter or Tekken’s nature to include a system like this. Capcom needs to make another fighting game & test this system before trying to push this on both SF & Tekken fans/vets. If Ono was looking for a way to ride the Customize/CallofDuty train, he should have looked to Capcom vs Snk series Groove system & Alpha 3, and built upon that.

Capcom has a lot of explaining to do b/c this doesn’t look like Street Fighter or Tekken to me. They simply need to just say, “Gems is a separate mode from the actual game.”, and most of the strong skepticism from everyone is over.

How do you know they’re not? How do you know there won’t be a Parry Gem, or Just Defend Gem, or Roll Cancel gem?

They do not activate automatically, either. They activate under specific conditions depending on the gem: did you watch the NYCC video where it specifically said that in the text?

IT IS NOT SUPPOSE TO PLAY LIKE ANY SF GAME BEFORE IT!!! laughing out loud so hard, the fighting system for starters is completely chain combos no “links” that’s just one example and from what I here—players who actually got a chance to play it said it is by far the most fun game they have ever played in a long time and cant wait for its release.

Gem system IMO is an amazing game play mechanic for this type of fighting game. It is not broken and requires meter on any gem usage so its not free and this will offer lots much depth in terms of always fighting in different situations.

Auto block and auto throw tech, I know it seems out there but this game again is a bit out there, and all this requires meter usage. Also, throwing in this game is garbage and is not something the dev. team had in mine for this game to be a grab fest, its not as good as SF4. Auto block, who cares it requires meter…i want to try this game out already

ur actually making sense

Haha! The Gem system looks like a loads of stupid shit!
THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE FUCKING HILARIOUS!

If you guys want a serious game, get KOFXIII … nuff said.

There are links, when you do a two character combo you are linking things. Technicality but anyhow.
Chain combos are still fine, and the link system in SF4 is arguably silly, but that’s the engine for you.

If you think grabs are good in SF4 then you need to reconsider some things.

I’m going to reserve my judgement before I see this gem system in place.
If there are charges for getting other gems… I might skip this release and play at a friend’s instead.
Will see how the tournament scene turns out.
