Thanks. I always keep my oil changed and just got a new air filter a few months ago, and my car’s always completely empty. My tires are always properly inflated, or at least never under-inflated. Where should I go to get all the other stuff looked at? And just say “my mileage sucks can you fix it?”
Gas where I live is always higher than the national average. Blah.
How much MPG are you getting out of it? I’m getting about 36 mpg on my 06 model civic. I generally just try not to pass 2000 rpms unless I’m going over 60 and even then I try to only stay about 5 mph above the speed limit. I had heard putting your car in neutral and riding it out instead of just hitting your breaks helps in fuel efficiency, but I stopped because I heard it messes with your transmission in the long run.
yup, after time that can blow your tranny apart, then it’s like at least 600 or 700 bucks to get a new one.
I pay like probably $30 bucks a week on premium(91), school is roundtrip 30 miles per day 5 days of the week. That’s about the only place I drive too any more and I would have to fill up much more often.
Does it save money to constantly buy premium? I had heard that buying plus gives you the best mileage/price, but I stopped because the guy who sold me the car said I have no reason to ever get anything past regular.
$2.73 at the ghetto station right outside my neighborhood. This station just gave up selling super and premium so they only sell unleaded now. because of that they are normally about $0.05 to $0.10 cheaper than every other station in the city.
Fuckin $40 to fill up ever week and I have to keep a full tank because of the mileage I drive.
This all depends on what kind of car/engine you have. I drive a civic, get the cheaper gas. No need for high octane. If you drive a sports car, its a different story.
just depends on your car, you read the car manual it tells what you’re supposed to put in, I have a 1.8 turbo in my car so it requires 91 or 93 octane any less and it will perform poorly.
Edit: Next time you fill up just look on the gas door of your car and it will tell you.
3.07 here in sd just got a 2008 rabbit 5spd and had 1/4 tank left. I decided to fill up and wound up costing me almost $40! gas is REALLY kicking my ass now I can only imagine when i’m almost empty; shit it would be like an suv  I went from $20 for my 65 bug to almost 3x as much on me new ride. yowsa
Damn gas only seems to go down when elections are nearing the bend. No bullshit. I remember when they were trying to vote for some rep they dropped gas prices to $2.30. Now its averaging $3.20. That friggin’ sucks big donkey balls. For those who don’t have cars that gas guzzle, you may think “Shut the hell up!” but the fact in general is that gas prices are bullshit, and lowering them during election is even more bullshit. Trying to win votes over UNLEADED? Get that shit outta here.
Actually, Gas prices rose cause the american dollar isn’t worth shit anymore with all the feds cutting rates. People can’t afford there homes cause they didn’t do there financing right so everyone is going to pay for it (in one way or another).
If you have any mechanical inclination, you can do that stuff yourself. Granted, it dependso n the car (working on the Corolla is piss easy; working on my 300ZX can be a nightmare…). Best thing to get is a Haynes manual for your car. $15, and you can do a lot of the stuff yourself (saves $$ from teh mechanics, too). Spark plugs–you can just get a plug socket (it is like 7/8 or simething like that and has a rubber sleeve inside it so you dont ruin the new plugs), and a ratchet. You unscrew them out and check them. The Haynes manual has a colored guide on how to tell the status of the plugs, but usually if the electrode is really round and worn, you can tell easily. The gist of it is plugs normally are set at a particular gap. AFter lots of use, they start wearing out and hte electrode melts a bit. As it melts, the gap gets bigger, so the spark gets weaker, and more fuel goes unburned. Or something like that… Fuel filter depends on the car. Some get changed every 60K, others every 120K, and some never do. I’m sure you can just take the car to a shop and have a “tune up”, but you know those fools will charge quite bit:lol:
