You gotta ask yourself what’s in their brain when they design a trigger like G’s VT 1 and Juri VT 2.

Both cases are the perfect example of flawed game design but for totally different reasons.

I legit want to know if somebody at Capcom actually tested this shit.

I think they do test but let it go just to fuck with people.

Or better yet, a new Burnout game!

I legit hope that half the team who made SFV are now making mobile games.

Where do you think CE marketing funds went to?

Raid Shadow Legends, that’s what : D

Expecting logic when designing characters from capcom fg division, lol.

By this point i am sure that they design the chars by throwing darts into a wall.

Considering that everyone that worked on the BO games left Criterion a long ago, i dont expect any new BO to measure well against the games from the past.

Current Criterion is a shell of what it was, reduced to a support studio for Dice.

I mean why not ?

This ain’t SF 2 times anymore. The gaming industry is a mammoth now. You would think they put more effort into this kind of shit.

But i guess not and you have a point.

Thanks friend, and lol, I’m not learning Gief. I watched a Hitbox 360 shortcut video and it was the first time Gief’s inputs seemed manageable on any comtrol method i’ve used, so it had me thinking, but he plays the opposite of how I ultimately like to play.

Also regarding your kind words.

...

Those words were all very helpful. I’m going to share them with my wife (minus the, us maybe having issues bit, lol) as she’s struggling with our decision as well, harder than I am in fact.

Also, I’m really sorry to hear about your last moments with Chloe. I hope this doesn’t come off as insensitive but that bit especially will really help us as Penny was having kidney issues as well. About 6-8 months ago, she got diagnosed with Stage 1 kidney failure (stage 1 of 4, though you likely know this). We started giving her saline IV drips once a week as well, and giving them more often as her condition got worse.

At the beginning of this month she was at the first bit of stage 3 and last time we did the test, a week or so ago, she was at the end of that stage.

On her last day, while we were now giving her saline every other day, she could not get comfortable. She was constantly trying to go to her water bowl and she honestly would not stop drinking. She would drink and then pause for a few minutes and start again. She never allowed herself to rest, and she wouldn’t even purr if we pet her, which was very unusual for her. She had some other issues flare up that day (diarrhea, arthritis pain in her limbs, etc) and it was clear to me we were doing the right thing.

It’s still hard though. Did we do it at the right time? Could we have had a few more days where she’d be happy? Would she have gotten better? And the worst of all, would she have agreed that it was her time as well?

All of course are questions when don’t know the answer to, so it’s hard to be at peace with our decision, but I keep telling myself that had we did it too late, and had Shen suffered more than she already was, we would have regretted it a lot more.

Anyways, I appreciate the kind words again Tables. They have already helped a lot.

G’s Vtrigger is dumb no question.

But the real culprit there is jab>ex rush. For most of SFV the game is pretty careful about limiting what will actually combo off a jab.

But for G, it’s like they forgot. VTrigger just exacerbated the situation.

now see the problem here was taht Will2Pac didn’t respect G’s wake up. I haven’t finished up the write up on why you take the set up but remember what I told you guys:

If you can’t guarantee it, don’t put yourself in danger.

So he tried to walk over like a silly goose against a G with 2 bars of meter and full v-trigger. Did he get opened up on the initial hit? No. He did something stupid. Stupid like trying to eyeball meaties.

Don’t eyeball meaties, dont’ get close to your opponent if you can’t guarateen your meaty because the risk if it fails is on your end for taking unnecessary risks.

Remember.
This the company that released the twins on SF4 overtuned because they thought it was good for the community, to have an enemy to overcome.

Many designers dont really have the competitive side in mind when designing a char.
They usually have an idea of how they want the chars to be played, it is why we saw Cammy buffed at one point and Fang nerfed, lol.

Coming in late to the game cost party.

I don’t think people realize that, yes, a game can make its budget back and profit, but said profit will be eaten up by the next game. So you’re constantly in a state of not making money because you’re next game just ate your profits.

i.e. Game costs 40 million to produce and launch. Game brings 60 million and profits 20 million. That 20 million is only enough for half of your next game’s budget. You’re now in a 20 million dollar deficit. First game needs to make 80 million to cover the cost of your next game for your second game to actually profit or break even if it tanks. That’s why there’s all this DLC. The problem is when you get publishers (EA and Activision) just leeching off of the DLC profits and doesn’t invest it in the next game. Your investors are also in a state of flux too since they can fund a game, but then your profits are going into their interest payments. I honestly don’t know how the game industry hasn’t crashed a second time to be honest. The publisher model is so broken. You need a whale of a game or else you’re bust.

Hot take, I fucking love Origin as a service.
They put all the EA games there so just by not having it on my PC I can dodge all EA games

Now in all fairness why did he just walk forward and not do anything lol

That’s not my problem to a big extent. My only concern as a consumer is to make a choice on whether a product being sold to me is worth buying at X price. There could be a million things you can tell me about your product, but its all being done so that I put me over the edge on buying it.

The basics of economics are in effect even in selling video games. Production issues start matter when they companies are doing random things that have a detrimental effect i.e. polluting water sources, environment etc. Other than that its basically up to companies to manage how to stay profitable.

What’s going on here is that companies are struggling to maintain a certain style of production even though its barely profitable. You could change things by increasing the product price or decreasing manufacturing costs but obviously something has to change. Murphy brought up increasing the costs of games. I don’t necessarily think that’s the issue. On the other hand, these massive bloated budgest and the push for graphics have created a strange issue in the industry that doesn’t seem easy to solve.

Them’s the breaks, i ain’t buying 6 hours of gameplay at 120 dollars when I won’t do it at 60.

Holy moly, Batman, it’s Dayaan’s essay scores for readability!

Seriously, if anyone knows what this is and if it’s good, let me know.

Real talk though, what does everyone think happens when a game is being developed or added to? It’s not like every single thing gets worked on, scrutinized and then shown off in a large room with everyone available to view and deliver criticism on it. There’s a good chance most of the team didn’t even see every V-Trigger used in an actual match before release. Just “K, it works, next one please”. Capcom definitely been on that kind of train since all the way back in the 90s.

Nah, woshige already told us that he thinks about characters based on how they’re gonna combo people.

G is working as intended.
