Gonna be honest, due my distate of the whole tuning phase of NFS, i played that game way later than its release.
I 1st played Carbon, which i ended loving.
I played Most wanted after it.
And i liked it as well.

But for me, i will always prefer games focused on actual super cars and racing.
Without the unnecesary fluff of stories, cinematics and shit like that.

Which is why i prefer the criterion games.
(I come form NF1 back in the 90s, what can i say)

I actually like the tuning phase. Spent hours tuning the performance of my cars so they’d get the most comfortable for me to do tight turns and go as fast as possible.

Making the car look cool was neat too.

Story? I just skipped everything as fast as possible to unlock the Gallardo and raced in custom races all the time on Downtown Expressway (yes I remember the map name). Had some fun with it, but most of my time was spent on DBZ Shin Budokai 1+2.

The best part of NFS games that you could tune is the fact that you could put custom parts on a VW Golf and it would absolutely shit on Lambo / Porche / Ferrari.

Haha you remember that? Yeah I finished all of Most Wanted with a VW Golf and beat all those fuckers in their Lambos in my teeny Golf. That was fun as fuck.

At the end of the day, it all depends on when you jumped into the franchise.
I think that while tinkering with your car can be fun, it can get old, really quickly for me.

Also, it limits the types of cars and number of them that you can get into the game, since there is a need to put focus on the tuning aspect.

By the time that NFS was int the tuning phase i jumped into the Burnout series, so it worked for me in the end.
