so cvs2 has been in danger since last year, and right now Mr. Wizzard is saying nay to having our game in evo next year.
with that being said, america finally beat japan, turnout for the early morning finals was very surprising. the finals were actually exciting to watch (i’m looking at you 3s, those finals really failed to deliver.)
there were four grooves in the top eight, and over ten characters, this a very diverse game with many viable tactics and characters. i think that this can help insure that even if this game does not stay in evo next year, we can still have a scene.
there are multiple smaller tournaments with cvs2 in them (final round, and i heard something about ohio in the coming months)
this all being said what is the future for our game? will we still have a scene a year from now? will keystone still be playing it? will the community keep holding tournaments? i think we can survive, even with out evo, but i think its going to take dedication and determination
st came out almost 15 years ago, and its still played. i doubt cvs2 has that sort of lasting power, but i know its now dead yet
MD still plays because we still want to compete with keystone however that works but in all honestly lots of people dont have what keystone has. Which is great comp and a place to play. But lots of us want to compete with them so people will still play reguardless.
3s finals have sucked for how long now??? And yet, it still gets support…honestly, as great as that Daigo video was, if that piece of media is the biggest reason for 3s’s support, then I must say: OVERRATED!
I’ll throw in my support for CvS2, but this thread currently resides in CvS2 general strategy…great example of preaching to the choir ^_~
I wish CvS2 was still gonna be at EVO. I like it a lot better then 3rd strike. The matches are much more exciting to watch IMO.
Unfortunately 3rd strike had more players at EVO this year (more then MvC2 actually), and it seems more likely that they’d renew 3rd strike instead of CvS2. If I see one more Chun vs Chun match… I’m gonna kill myself.
You really really have to make an effort to enjoy a Chun vs Chun match. It’s strange but it feels like after Battle of Destiny (aka EU Evo qualifiers) there’s new life in the European CvS2 “scene”.
That’s actually true. I participated on BoD and there were surprisingly many dudes there (mostly french dudes, but also greecs and austians) playing, and playing skilled!
CvS2 hasn’t been a big game in Europe whatsoever (what fighting game has?), but I got the feeling that CvS actually was on the uprise as opposed to the rest of the world.
I for one am willing to dedicate more time to CvS from now on, and I would be surprised if that wasn’t the case for the rest of europe.
