Yeah that just shows the power of a community that cares despite. Good amount of people showed up for Skullgirls @ Otakon also.
referring to principle and not economics part?
yeah i read it but that doesnt make sense to me because like i said… even without DLC this game has far more content than any previous capcom fighting game except MAYBE A3 max and CvS2… and even that’s debatable. But if you’re upset about the sheer principle of disc locked content, then what’s the difference between developing the content before release and releasing it later… and developing the content at a later date? By that theory, you’d be perfectly content if they hadnt developed any of the dlc content until after release and it’d be perfectly okay to release it in october at the exact same price or even higher. I really dont see how this option is a more favorable outcome.
If we basically had to pay $60 for only a title screen with no modes and the rest of the game was nickeled and dimed out i’d see that as pretty reasonable to protest. but if the game has more content (SFxT) than the game previously/currently played (SSF4:AE2012) why should you be upset at that? That’s my mode of thinking. I don’t get yours unless you just hate DLC in general or feel it’s your right to have all extra content delivered for free.
But SG wasn’t in the official roster… Or maybe it’s not ok now to do side tournaments at the EVO venue? I don’t understand what you are trying to say but either way it’s completely unrelated and blatantly stupid.
As I was saying, the way damage scaling works makes it that safe offense deals about 25% at best, but when you start with a defensive reversal (that goes really well with the short blockstun that was imported from SF4) it goes up to half life and more. I hated those safe DP FADCs in SF4 and now it’s even worse lol.
I don’t think people make sure to know the game themselves very well before trying to defend it.
I’d like to see how they destroy good turtle teams based on characters like Zangief and Guile for example. Showing a bunch of casuals among people using characters they want to play rather than what’s effective isn’t going to cut it.
Wow…you obviously didn’t read my post in which I said I bought arcade edition and enjoyed it because that’s the way dlc is supposed to be done so I obviously don’t think all extra content should be free.
Also something that doesn’t make sense to me is why make all the extra content for the game then not have people be able to pay for it for months while hackers can get it day one for free. It would make more sense to release the game earlier and be working on the dlc then. Therefore paying extra for it is more justified and the hackers can’t get it.
And I’m sorry I don’t think sfxtk has that much content in the first place other than characters. Excuse me where is the gallery mode where I can view concept art, rewatch openings and endings from arcade mode and watch the trailers that were released before the game and maybe some character bios and and power grids…oh yeah the game doesn’t have that… maybe a nice story mode since this game is the two biggest fighting games crossing over… oh yeah the game doesn’t have that either. And there isn’t much need for the challenge mode since for anything extra in this game, even gems (apart from titles) you need to pay to unlock. So much for far more content or have non capcom fighters like mortal kombat, soul calibur and tekken spoilt me? cough super smash bros. cough
Personally dlc sits better with me it’s made after the game comes out because for one I have accepted that the games 30+ characters is all it had to offer me when it first came out and it wasn’t hiding anything from me. Also the staff have done extra work post release, making extra content so I don’t mind paying extra for it
Although I see what you mean ultimately we’ll be paying for extra for more characters when it comes to capcom fighters and dlc. Again I love this game, it has officially replaced sfiv for me but the dlc is bad
Also would it be so hard for Capcom to let me buy the characters seperately? Becuase I want to play as Guy (my main from ssfiv) and no one else
well then i guess your version of content is different than mine, because all those extra modes are worthless to me. So as far as time attack, gallery, or survival fighting the CPU, i really havnt missed those because the CPU has always been pretty easy to beat.
Content for me primarily deals with characters and multiplayer modes. Why? because those are the ones that by my observation… everyone primarily deals with. So adding a barrel busting mode, brick wall breaking mode, or car destroying mode doesnt really add content to the game for me. I guess for you it does. Maybe i should have worded it as content that matters… but then if it matters to you then i probably would have gotten the same response.
I guess for me I can easily see them taking the risk to go over budget to have more content ready expecting to be able to recoup that loss in DLC sales. For all we know, we may never have even gotten any extra content unless the DLC expected to sell. You cant say that the dev staff didnt do extra work on development for the DLC content because there was no guarantee that we would ever get this content. If the game had no hype going for it and the majority was apathetic toward it then what do you think the chances are that this DLC content would have even appeared at all? Probably about the same that more undeveloped DLC content has a chance to make it now.
So i’m still not getting why people are against disc locked content. You cant make a game without planning for DLC content and be able to come up with tons of DLC content when it’s being demanded. For SF4 it was demanded which is why they had to release another disc (which people were pissed about). This time they plan ahead and everyone gets pissed they plan ahead for tons of DLC demand and support. You cant make a game and expect it to sell really well without taking the risk of losing far more money than you’ll get outta it. So i guess they are damned if they do and damned if they dont.
Now as far as how they handled the game, i agree that it could have been done better (no exclusive characters, team couch play on xbl, better matchmaking, better connectivity on PS3, more listening to NA and EU feedback, etc). But as far as DLC, i’d much rather have a lower cost DLC because it’s on the disc rather than a higher cost DLC because everyone has to download a shit ton of data that Sony and Microsoft charge up the ass to host.
But i could be wrong and they could have simply removed half the game before release and be nickel and diming us as much as they can. But because we complained we’ll probably never have the actual full game because they wont be able to recuperate the costs.
I think if we didn’t have that MvC3 problem this game would have turned out better. Thats just my opinion.
You guys all have it wrong. The reason this game is hated on is because… there aren’t any official team songs or rival songs (or just better songs). As of now I only like cosmic elevator and the training stage. I lost a lot and used to be saltier than a salt miner, but since I’ve started listening to my favorite sf4 tracks the game was much more fun (even if there is no Makoto).
And if you think I’m joking watch capcom 25th anniversary qualifier top 8 while listening to this.

I like the remixes of the Tekken Tag theme and SFIV theme, as well as the Jin/Xiaoyu boss theme.
so in other words you wanna bring back indestructible?
Get Hideki back, need some of that 2G and 3S magic. Or fuck the guys who did the SFEX OST.
Or better yet, revive this music. It’s a 2vs2 game after all.

Rofl if that’s your favorite song then by all means. I almost prefer indestructible to Pitstop 109 though…almost. Add some Hall of Fate and Moonlit Wilderness remix or something.
This is true love making…
“many” people just fucking love the idea of sfxt being awful and dropped from the outset because they really, really want to believe that a capcom game could fail instead of generating a massive following simply because it is a capcom game, despite any huge number of flaws which would not be tolerated for games from companies that arent capcom
some people who hate aren’t really just hating sfxt randomly as something they dont like, they’re hating because they want the aforementioned trend regarding capcom games to be bucked and for people to drop games they dont like instead of playing popular ones which they hate. and honestly, it seems to me sfxt being dropped by people got a significant number of people seriously look at non-capcom games.
also, top players’ opinions are only useful so far as their tournament experience backs up specific aspects of a game being well set up.
lastly, if you think the patches so far have done anywhere near enough for the game for the vast majority of players, you dont realize the extent of the things that people hate about it. it is not just a matter of people “whining” about gems or jabs or dlc; people hate the risk-reward for a lot of mixup, how throws are designed, how normals are designed, the walk speeds, how neutral or pressure/defense are in general, the life regen, etc etc etc. you will never get people to like your game if you dont understand shit like that and just simplify/devalue why they hate it. it is not just stream monsters who “dropped” it, but real, intelligent players who actually go to tournaments/meetups and said “fuck this”. getting people to stop bitching in the stream chat about the game only accomplishes so much for your scene.
Where did you learn that Sony and Microsoft charge extra fees to publishers to keep data on their servers? from an economic standpoint it makes sense it was on the disc if that was the case. Sucks it is not seen as morally acceptable, but as I have said this method has a negative stigma attached to it. :S I am asking out of curiosity. :o
It’s strange a lot of people complain that safe offense is too rewarding, e.g jabs and safe boost chains, and that this encourages one dimensional play.
Although no doubt DP tag needs to fixed.
Just quoting one out of a half a dozen great posts.
Anyone who thinks they are going to come in here to “save us,” from the “sinking ship,” that is SFxT needs to stop being so arrogant and ignorant.
I wont repeat everything that has been said except to say that if you don’t like it, don’t play it, there is no need to go out of your way to cause conflict with those that do.
I honestly laugh every time I hear people bitch about little subtles details on the game. Jaha nerd voice tone " The music on this game sucks, there’s no classic character themes. I hate the english voices. boo hoo"
It’s funny the amount of shit people try to find on their own biased minds to say this game sucks. Let me fill you obssesive geeks on a little secret. The VS. Series have never featured character themes for the most part. SFIV had themes because it was a Street Fighter game and also a tribute to the resurgence of a beloved franchise.
Marvel 2 had some of the worst music ever created for a fighting game. Yet it didnt keep it from being one of the best fighting games in history. (Yeah, I went there. Come at me bro.) The music on SFxT is actually pretty enjoyable.
So Please don’t look into such trivial stuff to say why this game sucks. I still think has have said the majority of the FGC doesn’t understand this game at all. I doubt 80% of the haters have a remote idea how this game is supposed to be played ideally. It’s engraved in our human nature to hate or dislike what we can not understand. That’s how lots of issues in the history of mankind have happened if you think about it.
DP tag cancel is not as godlike as a lot of people (like the haters) make it seem to be. It’s only effective if you are not anticipating it. Or baiting it. Lots of characters have punishes around this tactic. Trust me I have been blown up for getting greedy with the DP cancel shennanigans. This is an issue that doesn’t require nerfing but rather people actually using their brains for creating tech against it. It exists. It’s not a get out of jail free card. It is a safe tool when used correctly and in a guessing situation but even under those circumstances you still have some sort of risk doing that.
