Sorry dude.
I really wish I could get a decent pc now. I just don’t have the need (or money).

Has anyone played Black Mesa? Been playing through Half Life 2 lately and was wondering if Black Mesa is worth getting.
This is a great visual guide. I tried to follow it as best as I could and beat the first IOS stage on nightmare without dying. The second stage was a bit harder (had to retry 3 times) but much easier than my previous run.
I finished DOOM ETERNAL and have started an ultra nightmare run. I made it past the first level and I am not going to lie, I barely made it through. No checkpoints, no extra lives is really really rough. I got to the first “fight pit” on the second level and had to tap out. IMO beating UN is more about memorization and routing than anything else. I’m not sure if I want the gold skin that bad, lol.
Most people seem to like it. It’s not an exact remake but it keeps things fresh and memorable to the original.
I’ve been playing UN last night and today and you’re right, it’s all about planning out your run. I died 4 times on Hell on Earth last night and really buckled down to figure out proper strategies and cleared it both times I tried today. The first time I died on Exultia was on that arena after the big 3 doors. My game is saved before my second Exultia attempt as I need more practice on it.
I don’t care too much about the skin. A nice trophy of course, but I am more gun-hoe to know I did it. I really wanted to do it in 2016 but I was never able to come close (couldn’t even beat it on Nightmare) and it seems a but more attainable for me in Eternal so I’m going for it.
I do have to say, it is god damn exhilarating though. The intense action gets multiplied by 10 and I’m loving it. I honestly don’t think I can play anything other than UN now, except for Nightmare but only to practice.
Man, E3M9 of Dusk is a ball buster. Wave upon wave of death.
Is DUSK on PS4?
No, only on PC at this time. They’ve stated they were making console ports like a year ago but haven’t heard anything since so…
Dang. Game looks dope.
I haven’t been on DOOM in a minute with the new Mario Maker update out, but I’ll get back to it eventually.
Wanted a lighter FPS experience last night than Eternal’s Ultra Nightmare and finally got around to Doom 64, and the game is pretty nice.
I ignored it back in the day because it wasn’t made by id, seemed out of date compared to games like Quake, Turok, and Goldeneye that were out at the time, and they made their own enemy sprites, which I wasn’t a fan of.
The level designs are pretty cool. They feel like Doom maps, but with a few more puzzles. Also, as someone who did some Doom and Duke Nukem 3D map-making, there were a few things they did that I had no idea how they did. Then I realized that they used more advanced editors to make these maps, so they could do some cooler stuff. The maps are still basically 2D (no floors over floors, etc), but they still did pretty cool stuff.
Also, they made the screen shake when you fire the Chaingun and it makes it seem so much more powerful. It’s actually my favourite weapon in the game so far (on map 6). The SSG has a nice “Boom” to it too, but the Chaingun is a refreshing change.
Eternal’s Prowlers seemed to have been influenced by the purple super imps in this game, which is neat. I know Hugo Martin’s first Doom game was 64 so it’s nice to see the influence.
The only things I don’t like (or could be improved) are:
Overall, it is a fun game though, and the issues are minor to how the good the rest of the game is so far.
The ambient horror music works perfectly for DOOM 64.
Maybe, I would have liked more rhythmic/energetic music myself, especially when I’m backtracking through the map trying to find my way around.
I liked the Aubrey Hodges soundtrack as it really plays up the more horror demon/hell aspect of the game. I dare say the music he composed for the Quake 64 game fits far better than the original tracks. It really adds the creepy factor and made me feel a little tense playing years ago.
They purposely went with the more atmosphere tracks in DOOM 64. It adds a lot to the game, as does the original soundtrack for Quake 1 by Nine Inch Nails(which is fucking amazing.)
I agree man…I think it’s one of the greatest games I’ve ever played and I’ve finished 100’s of games over the years.
I never thought I’d say that about an indie title that visually looks like a Quake 1 era title, but at the same time the visuals add to the atmosphere and monster designs in a way…they look fucked up.
On a whole I liked DUSK more than DOOM Eternal. Yeah, I think it’s that good of a game. The visuals and the gameplay are better in DOOM(although the gameplay is amazing in DUSK as well.) It’s just as a package DUSK is better overall imo, especially the unbelievable level design. It’s very memorable, whereas with DOOM Eternal I felt like I was on rails most of the time.
The game can run on a very, very lowend PC due to its visuals so I say bite the bullet and grab it on PC. It’s fucking amazing, and it has a PHYSICS system ala Half-Life. On top of this, it was mostly made by ONE guy.
Finished Nightmare mode for DOOM Eternal last night…
…
I won’t be going for Ultra Nightmare, EVER!!
I had so much fun my first day running UN, but then when I looked at it after a tiring work day the next day, I was like “fuck this shit”
I made it past the first 3 levels of UN so far and after finishing level 3 I had to sit down because I felt so stressed and taxed from getting through a whole level with no save points. If you got mid level save points I don’t think UN would actually be that hard.
Yeah, only being able to save after each mission (before going to the Fortress) is annoying.
