Also, I had the Slayer playing DOOM 1 on his old PC last night, lol. It’s real cool that they added that in, but the graphics are pretty low res. If you really want to play any of them, I think you’d get a better experience from buying it for a few bucks. I bought Doom 2 for like $7 CAD on PS4 a few weeks ago.
Still worth it to play that though if you’d rather. I didn’t try it but there were save and load options in the menu.
Considering we got more weapon and praetor points than needed (and that’s with getting every mod available), I think it’s very much possible to skip the Slayer Gates and some of the Secret Encounters and just get the upgrades you want/need, especially if you’re smart in regards to how you prioritize things.
It would probably be required to do as many mission challenges as you can, as well as doing some of the easier Secret Encounters (particularly early on so you can upgrade quickly) and maybe the easier Slayer Gates (like the very first one).
That’s how I’m planning my future runs actually, and will eventually refine my upgrade path.
For example: one thing I’m thinking of, is in the first level, while you only have the shotgun, you run into two weapon mod drones, and later you pickup the Heavy Cannon and get another mod drone. Instead of getting both mods for the shotgun, I’m just going to get the Sticky Bomb, bypass the second mod, and once I get to the end of the level (after I get the Heavy Cannon), I’ll Fast Travel back to get the drone I missed so I can get both mods to the Heavy Cannon.
The new Duke 3D episode is great but the 3D World Tour version of DN3D is kinda ass, imo. Saying that, if this is your only way to play DN3D I would def recommend it simply because it’s a part of the GOAT build trinity.
Stuttering on both console and PC and then it’s just littered with smaller annoyances like there’s this weapon list that shows up when switching weapons which is also on PC but it also does it when using number keys to switch and you can’t turn it off which is just a really odd choice, the rerecorded voice lines sound really flat too but iirc you can have just classic lines so that’s not too bad. There were a few other little niggling things that makes avoid it but I can’t really remember since it’s been a while.
It’s just a very underwhelming and honestly a poor conversion especially considering eduke exists, Gearbox/Randall J Pitchford dropping the ball like clockwork.
Again, though, if you don’t have access to eduke or the megaton edition, 3D World Tour gets the job done.
I love Ahoy’s Style…I missed when he did great guides on CoD 10 years ago…but from that you can see how he really stepped it up once he began to focus on game history. Excellent!
One thing that sucks about Duke Nukem: World Tour is that it’s missing all of the expansions that the Duke Nukem: Megaton edition had. It was also taken off of PSN and Steam once the Randy Pitchford edition went up which sucks. I managed to get it on Steam before it was taken down but I never got it on PSN, and I’d have loved to see how amazing it would have looked on a Vita.
Ion Fury was great, but imo DUSK is better. It’s fucking amazing, and I think it’s on the Switch too(Ion Fury might be on the platform as well, if not it will be soon.)
Talking with @Skort in another thread got me trying to Air Control Rune. Holy shit that Rune is awesome. I can’t imagine playing this game again without it. Honestly, that should just be how he jumps normally. Thanks Skort.
Also, I’ve been playing like a madman, doing a second run on HMP to figure out a good upgrade path with ignoring all Slayer Gates, some Secret Encounters, and a few Mission Challenges. Pretty sure I had full upgrades + mastery over the Super Shotgun and Plasma Rifle’s Heat Blast mod on ARC Complex.
It honestly went much better than I thought it would. I’m just starting the first Nekravol stage and have nearly every weapon mod that I like fully upgraded and mastered and the only Praetor upgrades to get are those four for exploration, which honestly, I could care less about.
I’ll post the details later when it’s done… Just a few more upgrades to sort out.
The Air Control mod was one of the first I got. I’m actually really enjoying the platforming in this game. But I’ve played a lot of Destiny and jumping puzzles are some of my favorite parts of the raids.
I have the megaton edition on STEAM also, I have no idea why Pitchford just didn’t add his new levels to Megaton Edition, then it would have been the superior version.
The air control rune is easily one of the best in the game. As i said before my build is something that increases my air time, aoe damage and less cooldowns on abilities.
You get a good setup to pretty much “spam” armor shards off demons while maintaining yourself airborn.
