Finished DOOM ETERNAL last night!!
Fucking GOTY!!!
Final 3 Boss fights were insane, and I had to use the Sentinel Armor buff for the first time in during this 1st playthrough!!
I donāt know how you guys are surviving your first playthroughs on these higher difficulties!!
The shotguns, and the heavy cannon are my MVPs.
The Combat Shotgunās maxed out sticky attachment and heavy cannon made dealing with revanants and Spiderbots way easier and the final form Super Shotty melted almost everything and gave you a mobility option that gave you free armor!!
When you guys beat the game, did you bust a nut?
I just fought the boss in sentinel city. Took about 3 hours on ultra violence. Refused to use the armor you get after dying so many times.
Ballista did all the heavy lifting for me here
Just the opening sequence alone caused multiple nut busting.
Iām not too far into it but jesus this game is too dope.
I was thinking about one thing missing from the game. A stomp or divekick to ground yourself quickly. Itād be perfect alongside the double jump and double dash.
This is an awesome idea. I can already see me dropping my ass right down a bottomless pit
Whose dumb ass fucking idea was it to put swimming in this game?
The Archvile buffing as well is fucking stupid. Its ubfortunate bit as the gake goes on i like it less and less. The ammo issue has never stopped being a thing just always starved for bullets, and bow they are flooding small rooms with so many enemies you canāt move, or move where you want to because enemies are knocking you all over the place. Chasing this Aechvile down is pure was because the room is tiny with lots of walls and it just summons in a huge swarm of everything and buff the fuck out of it in the process. I can only assume this is why extra lives that Respawn you instantly where implemented and that you can farm them from other chapters and bring them to your current run. The devs knew some of these fights where fucking dumb but you can get extra lives so itās ok. Meh.
This game is really good but I deffinitly like 2016 better.
Edit: Oh and Sonicabid is right, the Rocket Launcher blows.
Dont tell Zatalcon.
I donāt get what the platforming and water sections add to the game. I donāt mind them, but they are just kind of there. The block āpuzzlesā are kind of silly too, theyāre pointless imo.
I had this happen maybe once or twice throughout the whole game. If youāve noticed, in between bigger firefights they just throw random zombie demons so you can Flame Belch --> Chainsaw them. Iām always chainsawing lesser demons and in 99.9% of the fights theyāre there, because they know if they arenāt you will run out of ammo eventually.
Heās a top priority everytime. If I go into an area, and I see monsters being buffed, I donāt even fight the monsters. I beeline towards wherever the Archvile or Totem is.
Genuinely the only time I started to be forced to use my lives was the last level. I went in there with 10 lives and I ended the game with like 3 or 4. If I died before that it always felt like it was my fault or that I could have done better, but when you get to the last level itās absolute chaos(I wish more of the game was like that, it felt like DOOM II with all of the shit on screen at once.)
I need to replay it soon so I can compare them with them both being fresh in my mind.
Told you man, itās fucking useless. I remember it being good in 2016 and I remember using it there, but there is literally never a situation where I want to use it in Eternal over the other weapons.
I donāt mind the platforming. I kinda like it. Im weird tho because the fps Iāve played the most over the past 5 years is destiny and thereās always some platforming sections
I could see how people donāt like it tho.
Swimming on the other hand can kiss my ass. I hate swimming in any game and especially where it makes you go underwater.
(Spoiler) Question for those who beat Urdak...
How the F do you beat Kahn Maykr without Sentinel Armor?
She was, by far, the hardest part of the game for me so far. I vowed to not use Sentinel Armor this run, but I really wanted to beat her tonight and there was no way. My best run in about 70 mins did about 1/3 of her overall health.
What were the main two guns you were using (the one to shoot her in the air to lower her shield, and to headshot her drones)?
I know that feel!!!
For Kahn Maykr and Icon of Sin, I ended up using Sentinel Armor!!
I got one of the tokens that allows you to bypass mastery challenges, so I fully upgraded the Heavy Cannon. The secondary fire that shoots rockets indefinitely would instantly phase that boss, and it was great for the final boss as well.
Awesome, thanks!
I used the rocket launcher with the lock on fully upgraded and heavy rifle for the orange head things
I beat the game tonight. Ended up with a ton of extra upgrade currency but character is fully upgraded and i unlocked all the stuff at the FoD. I must have missed something
Anyway those last 3 levels were good but i think my adrenal glands are shot. I could tell i was close so i marathoned 4 hours to finish
Unfortunately, i didnāt like the final boss fight. I wonāt spoil it but it felt like a big departure from how the rest of the game played.
Thanks Mike.
I think they give you extra stuff so you can be fully upgraded even if you missed things, but of course, itās better to be fully upgraded earlier if you can.
The only thing I havenāt found extras of were the weapon mod drones, and Iām not sure if I extra weapon upgrade points (I probably do), but I know I have extra praetor suit points and battery cells, and I canāt see anything else to spend those on.
