I’m in. I’m one of those lazy people that never updated my email so I had a defunct email. Which means I couldn’t use the password reset to fix. Luckily got in contact with some people and they were able to get me updated and signed back in.

This is obviously a new formatting for people, but I think people have to remember that there was almost nobody who liked vanilla forums. Both when it first started and up to its last days. I’ve been looking online and it seems there’s some ways to mod / plug in things in for discourse to make it more lively. Hopefully some backgrounds and reaction icons with some wordings can be put in in the future.
I haven’t seen any discourse forums that have used pages. I guess that’s because the whole point of discourse is they advertise “pageless forum discussion”, but there’s good things about it too. Like being able to much more quickly scroll to a section of the forum. TBH there wasn’t really much of a point to having pages in Vanilla because Vanilla’s system didn’t allow you to scroll back more than 4 or 5 pages at a time so effectively without a search, you would waste your entire day even looking through old pages. Like who the hell is going to actually be able to get to page 235 of GD or SFV GD on Vanilla? It’s not even worth trying with no manual page entry.
Rambling aside, thx again and I’m glad that moves were done to get the forums back and runnning. SRK is the forums and what brought me here 16 years ago and what will keep me here. I guess some people just saw this as some business shit with social media being so big and just knee jerk decided to shit it down, but we’re bigger than that.
also pro-tip: don’t make a new account based off the old account that you wanted to get the old account updated to. I can’t assign the email to an account if it’s already in use. :\
Some people’s email addresses were legit scrambled during the change-over it appears: I don’t expect you to know 83092805ufus8ufh@fj. , but I would expect you to mostly know your old email.

All the old moderator staff privileges were wiped in the server move. I just got my privs back late last week and am still figuring out how Discourse works. At this point, I’d like a week to figure out how things work to make sure I can maybe kinda help provide advice/insight on mod-tools questions. At that point (Sunday the 18th), people still interested in modding should PM me what section they would like to be back helping the community with.
Yesterday I got a report that the password expiration reset tokens being emailed to people were prematurely expired: I believe I have fixed this. Let me know if you run into that problem.
