Hello Game Fans, Sanji Himura here preparing to invade Dallas yet again for the Fort Worth Classic tournament special.

Venue: Officially, TBA I am about to negotiate on using the AnimeFEST clubhouse for the event. The clubhouse is located at 160 Business Parkway in Richardson, TX If you want to punch it in on Google.

This will ensure that I will move the tournament along far enough so that it can finish without my being there. I will appoint someone to fill in the role of Tournament Director in my absence at the tournament.

A complete set up equals a TV, a game console with a tournament game(s) and a surge protector/extention cord.

Marvel vs Capcom 2
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike

If time doesn?t allow at the start of the tournament, the format will be ?EVO style? elimination, if the number of people is less than seven, the format will be round robin.

  2. Prizes for each game will be distributed immediately following the game at hand.

  3. A match for all tournaments is best 2 out of 3 games, both the winner and losers finals are best of 5 games and the Grand Finals are best of 7 games(unless specified).

  4. I?m all for casuals, but you must register BEFORE you play.

  5. Any grievous misconduct will result in you being removed from the premises without a refund and any prize money that is won surrendered. This includes, but not limited to, drinking, smoking(in building), gambling on matches(unless it is an officially sanctioned Money Match and only then will it be between the participants involved), and disrespecting and arguing with staff(for both The Classic and the venue).

  6. Hardware macros are strictly prohibited. You may only use the macros that are available in the in-screen configuration menu. 3x punch and 3x kick options or any other similar options are not allowed.

  7. An accidental pause of the game may result in forfeiture of the round at the judge?s digression.

  8. You must bring your own controller for any console that the game is played on. Converters may or may not be provided to those who needs them(i.e: PS2 to DC and PS2 to PS3). If you wish to play pad, you MUST use the console default or an officially licensed controller. USB cables must be used on PS3 controllers. Even though Wii will be used for Smash, you MUST use Gamecube controllers.

  12. Equipment failures are subject to a three person panel that will consist of the Tournament Director, the head judge, and one person deemed an expert in the game at hand, using EVO standards as a guideline. If the equipment failure was reported by a player, and the panel ruled against him, the match is forfeited. Judges can report equipment failures on behalf of the player. If the panel rules for the player, the equipment is ordered to be replaced with a padded controller and the match is ordered to be replayed with the same characters and settings. Regardless of what the panel rules, if the judge convenes the panel for the player, the match is ordered to be replayed with the same characters and settings.

  13. Rules violations must be reported the instant the violation is made(within reasonable standards). The Classic will use the yellow card system when issuing rule violation penalties(Yellow card will forfeit the match and a red card will disqualify you). If a player falsely(or ignorantly) reports a rule violation, then they will be issued a yellow card. You will have a clean slate for each tournament.

  14. In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be decided by coin flip supervised by either a judge or the tournament director. The winner will have first pick of the ports.

  15. Any attempt to circumvent the rules by a player(s) is grounds to remove you from the premises with out a refund and you will be banned from any future Fort Worth Classic Event.

Updated with a more definite date. April 11th sound good to anyone?

SF4 and 3rd strike I’m down. I’ll bring a few friends aswell.

I dont think that me going or not changes anything in particular, but I couldnt make it if its on April because there’s already 3 big tournaments announced for this month (Trashday, Austin Regionals and Trashday, if you’re picky you could include showdown championships as well).

I actually feel like Im speaking for everybody in the south when I say we can only afford to go to one.
Nothing personal, but Im mainly a 3s player, and the 3s level in Austin is the best in Texas, so Im going to choose that tourney for the month.

Its just my opinion, I think alot of people fee like me.

will DEF be there and hopefully bringing friends. Props for banning Akuma in HDR

April 11th sounds like a date I can make…

Good luck, too bad this is the weekend of my birthday, i would have tried to make it.

How old?

if the tourney was like in May or June they i would might able to, i had fun at the last tourney back in January. but if its in april i probably won’t go cuz i spend a whole lot of my saving money during the holiday and the Austin tourney is in the same month.

Dont worry, there will be a tourney in June for DFW.

27, DG.

Oh wow we’ll be turning 27 around the same time (Me in June)

Hey whens the estimated time for the tourney in June?

Why I ask is because June is a busy as HELL month for me…

*Raging Storm MidWest Quals at MWC June 12-14th

*Raging Storm West Coast Quals at DEVASTATION June 19th-21st

And also a possible trip to a “proposed” Juarez National in CD. Juarez, Mexico…

-DG

To those who won’t come because of Trashday, Austin tournament, ect. I would like to remind you that the date IS NOT SET IN STONE YET! I posted April 11th because that was the date I gave to Robert Jenks, chairman of AnimeFEST(and the owner of the clubhouse.) If you wish to have a May tournament, there is a 75/25 shot that the date would be moved to no later than May 23rd. This would allow at least a two week gap between my tournament and Matrix’s next tournament in June(whenever that is.) So if you want to move the date, let me know ASAP! The first opputunity that I have to talk with him about this is THIS UPCOMING FRIDAY!

There are only two dates in May that I can use the clubhouse. May 2nd and May 23rd. There is an anime club that wants to use the venue at least two Saturdays out of the month(confirmed May meeting: May 16th) and a cosplay club that wants to use the venue on the second Saturday of the month(May meeting: May 9th?) So if you want to have the tournament on those days, consider them busy.

There is also a possibility that I would have to change the venue for the event. Cash pot tournaments are a no no at the AnimeFEST con, and I am not sure that they would allow me to have one at the clubhouse. I personally think that because I am not acting in any capacity as a staff member of AnimeFEST, I should be allowed to have the cash pot tournaments. There should be other prizes there if I am not allowed to have cash pots at the tournament. Granted that they most likely be anime or gaming related. It would depend on the quality of those prizes that would make my decision.

I also added rules for KOF 98UM after I played through it myself a couple of days ago.

I’m think I’m gonna play in the SFIV tourney. I’m a complete scrub, but you gotta start somewhere right?

Never mind, if its on the weekend of April 11th I will be out of town, damn…

Does that include the one that comes with the default controls in SF4?

I don’t know how to really answer that question as it pertains to SF4. 3x punch and 3x kick is not allowed, sure, but I may allow you to configure a button that will allow you to focus/parry attacks, but that is it. It all really depends on when and where I get my face time with SF4.

But as of now, you configuration should be like this:

LP MP HP FOCUS
LK MK HK

IF YOU ONLY HAVE SIX BUTTONS ON YOUR STICK, YOU CAN’T CONFIGURE A FOCUS BUTTON AT ALL!!!

so WHEN exactly and WHERE is this going to be? My play group of friends and I want to come and April is coming fast, so we need details…

NO macros on SF4 please…not even focus attacks. Let’s play it like the arcade and every other SF–like it was intended.

also…since SHOWDOWN championships are April 11th in Houston, I would change dates. You will get many more ppl coming from out of town if you do (and more from in town too–lots of ppl go to Showdown from this area!!!)

I will probably come in May since I’m going to a tournament every weekend in April and the beginning half of may would leave me some time to drive up to Denton and stay for some crashing/Fry’s St.

A lot of you brought up some very important points/questions that I should address to you now.

  1. The date is still officially TO BE ANNOUNCED (TBA)! The reason for that is that I have yet to set something in concrete with Robert, the guy who owns the clubhouse where the venue is to be planned. As soon as I know something, I will let you know. But for now, I can let you know that the event is looking like it will take place in May.

  2. As far as Macros in SF4 is concerned, I know that some of you want macros to be allowed in SF4, while others do not. For this tournament, I will not allow the 3x punch, or the 3x kick options, but if you are allowed to set a focus button, I will allow you to do that, but that’s it. Next tournament will be different.

sweet. i’ll bring a few friends with me and we’ll hit up SFIV and 3S.

april’s totally cool with me.
