Yeah psoul has a bunch of stuff that doesn’t require lock down or a reset, like shit out of her j2mk, really juicy cross ups from RC’d blockstrings that are true 50/50s, really ambigious lo/throw situations from ticks, tricky overhead blockstrings.
As for cross ups, you can get crossups out of both kinds of lk (j4lk and jlk) as well as j.hp corss up setsups on some characters.
She’s got a ton of stuff man, she really isn’t all that nerfed. The only way she is nerfed is in her damage output due to IPS change, but that is universal so it doesn’t matter, and she has really good reset options anyways.
If you think Parasouls only good thing was her hi/lockdown (which is still relevant), then I dunno what to tell ya.

Painwheel:
Optimal Team: Duo with a self-serving Char/Trio | With an approach covering assist (unsafe approach options, lack of assists)
Optimal Position: Point (due to lack of good assists)
Parasoul:
Optimal Team: Any Size
Optimal Position: Any
Peacock:
Optimal Team: Duo/Trio with at least one good assist char (needs an assist to cover her zoning)
Optimal Position: Point (she’s so much better there as she starts rounds where she wants to be - away)
Valentine:
Optimal Team: Any, but Duo only with a self-serving Char (lack of assists)

Self-serving chars are ones that fit into “Any Size” and thus aren’t hurt by lack of assist options of their teammate (as they can just as well solo)
Note that all chars can do anything, I just think not everything is *optimal *(eg Solo Peacock and Solo Cerebella certainly work, but I think they work better with an assist)
I only like Valentine and Fortune on point because all their assists seem weak to me. I also think Bell should maybe avoid being last. Her mobility is that great…
I mostly agree, but as a Val player I’d say she wants an assist to have other characters GTFO and another assist to help her get in. Duo works but having two assists is optimal, IMO. Val still hits like a truck in a trio so you’re not losing much and gaining a lot.
Most characters can perform in this spot, the 3 worst probably being mf,painwheel,and bella… Primarily because there dhcs lack range… Though of course teams can be made to compensate for this.
Anchor
Filia (uses meter well, great assist, great linear full screen super, great resets… Awesome anchor with her only drawback being easily zoned.
Double (obvious)
Val (if the team is well designed for her val can be a good anchor with that punkass lvl 5 ruining shit in the 9th inning) however the team will need chatacters that can make good use of either of her throw assists)
Painwheel (situational… I make great use of anchor painwheel because of the imba resets and her lvl3. However im pretty sure that pw can be punished for raw lvl 3… But it rarely if ever happens to me… She has a lockdown assist to make her an asset at anchor and meter using abilities as well as better ability to get in late game against unassisted characters with flight)
Bad anchor: parasoul unfortunately. She can be made to work there but isnt the best imho… Not the best use of meter, her pokes dont do as much damage as being solo, so even psychologically she is kinda fail… Maybe if i saw her players going for more resets id be more convinced… But right now the only things i see that say to use her at anchor are her assist and her cancelable on block lvl 3… Allowing a free mixup (which can now be pbgc’d and autoblocked) filias a much better option. Parasoul was made for point or 2nd and perhaps solo with her damage and somewhat safe reversal… Anchor on trio or duo is a bad idea imho.
Anywhere
A few characters can probably be put here… But all imho would need concessions and teams built around them with one exception:
Filia… Works GREAT anywhere you put her.
Double is a very close second but struggles on point though unbeknownst to most people, Double is still a pretty good point character.
I think current level Parasoul is a mediocre anchor, but she has awesome potential for solo incoming mixups with her tears. Double, Fortune, and Peacock are probably the only other ones who could get safe mixups like that in anchor position and Peacock struggles zoning solo against teams with the right assists.
I think Painwheel could make a good second if you can set up combos into her resets from the point character via dhc or raw tag. Similar to how Peacock/Fillia gains reset pressure from any Argus Agony.
I believe that Fortune belongs on point to begin with because she is able to set up raw tag combos to a few characters. Also one of her useful assists needs to have the head removed beforehand to work.
erm, absolute guard was confirmed aaaaages ago now. you switch your blocking stance while in pushblock animation and youy can block both high and low at the same time. mike z even confirmed it himself and was even dropping hints about it waaaay back, so its obviously something he wanted in there.
Yeah i was theory fighting up a way to get pw in on dhc/ tag etc… Cause folks use of that filia dhc and its strength is obvious… I wanted that for pw… But her tag is techable so thats no guarantee… She has her lvl 3… But is it worth it? Not at this point in time imho and definitely not something to base ones game around, she does however have a slick otg in the corner after her ground super… Problem is that it only works against 5 characters and is a tight link, plus of course needs otg AND corner… Thats alot of restrictions…
But would definitely be good combo video stuff and something worth knowing if someone had pw at 2nd or third… But not strong enough JUST to put her in either of those positions.
Her level 3 is an install super, which is always good, you get some interesting DHC options with it. Also, the assist/alpha counter in cruel lily and the raw tag converting into full combos for tag burst baits if you’re into that. Otherwise, put PW on point.

And in asking if it was “worth it” i wasnt fully talking about meter cost, i was implying whether or not it was worth it from a stance of building a team around pw at 2nd or anchor.
Not just for a lvl 3 imho. And also not for the combined sum of her parts… Imho.
Though my personal opinion can change on that front, a team has to be found that can really make good use of her assist and also use her lvl 1 dhc AND ALSO combo into her lvl 3…
Parasoul at 2nd probably exemplifies a character that does all these things as well as having a midscreen bnb that combo into pws tag…
Problem is that i havent seen any painwheel at anchor with this makeup besides me when im fucking around… And it seems decent but not something AWESOME.
But maybe thats just me.
Last high level pw i saw that used her lvl 3 was rylander… He used it damn good as well so theres always that.
