The First Lady of Fighting - General Chun-li Discussion

Well Filipino champ posted another tier list and placed Chun near bot tier >.<

Considering picking up Marvel again. Would switch up my Chun team a little though and place Storm on my secondary team.
Gonna throw some ideas out there…

Chun/Sent/Doom - Adding Chun to a strong shell. Get in and stay in; no brainer.

Chun/Doom/Strider - Strong anchor and the vajra assist could be interesting for Chun. I forget if it causes HKD or not. If it does, Chun can convert with IAD stomp OTG into combo.

Chun/Ammy/Doom - Weird team, but sometimes weird ends up working.

Out of all those teams, I’d say that Chun/Amaterasu/Doom would probably be the strongest. Plasma Beam and Cold Star would help Chun-Li out tremendously, you’d have access to the broken Doom/Amaterasu team super, and either one of them would be good anchors with level 3 X Factor. Strider as anchor is okay, but you’d still have to be good with him anyway because level 3 Orbs don’t always cut it (I’m a Strider player). Drones are good for lockdown but if that’s what you’re going for, you might as well use Amaterasu’s Cold Star. You get a better character imo. Nevertheless, all three of these teams could work nicely.

does anyone know how to get chuns double air dash to work insistently? im talking about the instant double, not just 2 in the air in general. last time i asked (back in the OG mvc3 days) someone said you have to use heavier attacks, then light ones after to do it, but ive proven that to be wrong in several different ways. i can get it sometimes, but even if i set a button to 2 attacks, i cant just press it twice fast and have it work. seems like it could be useful for some stuff

Do it like a plink on the ground. Hit S+2 buttons, but with the sllllliiiiiightest gap between.

Just use 3 buttons. Doesn’t matter which, and one of the buttons has to be S. You don’t need to plink for that. Works for Joe too.

I just do M~H, M~H. I plink every dash now, its good to get into the habit.

I haven’t posted here in a while. I’m thinking of choosing another team for chun, but i don’t feel like learning new characters that
much. I want to do morrigan/doom/chun and start chun sometimes. i might get a team with magneto too… chun/mags/doom? I get random out at tourneys… for some reasons. chun/storm/nova will still be there though. I wanna play chun/ryu/akuma like Brian but i don’t like akuma. I haven’t been practicing so i’ll need a whole lot of practice especially with these new characters.
any ideas for new teams with chun?

Gave it a moment’s thought, I think you’d do well with Chun/Spencer/Magneto in whatever order seems appropriate for the matchup. I bet you could wreck some people with that.

I’d love if you’d main the SF Team

If I may, you should have a character with stupid damage scaling combos like Akuma or Spencer, so u can raw tag after Kikoanken and deal a lot of damage.
I am working on a combo to kill Thor from the first hit and no meter required to start the combo. So far I have managed to deal 1.225. I need 0.025 more damage =(
Akuma is amazing for Chun-Li, and Chun-Li’s assist allows him to combo after a ground throw and after the L Shoryuken.

killing thor damage is really good. i’ll go back to the labe with chun/mags/spencer, i think that’s the right order…or spencer first.

One thing I brought into consideration when I was making my team was how would my characters do if it they ended up having to fight as a team of two. Cause, inevitably, you’re gonna be put in a position where one character might die, and if that happens that’s when you see if THE WHOLE team really supports itself. Ask yourself some of these questions: Is the synergy with the remaining two still viable without Chun? Is my team so centered around Chun to the point that the other two don’t work together? What if my primary assist for Chun dies? Can Chun safely DHC out? And if she can, is there any effective DHC anymore between Chun and her partner if my go-to DHC character (2nd) for Chun dies?

Just some things I’m throwing out there for people that are still formulating teams. I thought long and hard about these teams before I was finally satisfied with the final results. Oh, and their colors have to match, of course… :stuck_out_tongue:

im considering chun-li for my team . but only if she fits. does she need a get in assist like drones , missiles , or a beam . or will she work with just jam session ( corner pressure , anti missiles , pressure on incoming character) because my current team is she-hulk , dante , wesker . im just looking to replace she-hulk for anti zoning purposes

She doesn’t need an assist to get in, per se, but it sure helps. I can see Jam Session really working for her, but you’d have to be intelligent with her to make it work.

ChunLi is one of those sleepers, a blue-collar character that nobody respects. The only gripe I have with ChunLi is her airdash is slightly diagonal rather than horizontal which makes it hard to rush in at such an odd angle. Some say it actually helps, yet you have to input those pokes quite early to connect in time. Her speed helps get in, her mixup is nice and she has awesome movement. A team everyone should try is Chun/Nova/Dante, someone mentioned jam session for her mixup, well thats good along with Nova as well. Chun for rushdown, Nova for damage and Dante as anchor with lvl3 xfactor.

Team Femme: Chun/Trish/Viper
Team Rushdown:Chun/Magneto/Spencer
Team Martial Art: Chun/Ryu/Ironfist

how’s your chun/mag/spencer team? i was thing about playing it.

Hey Brian… Do you ever think about using instant stomp anywhere else beside the corner? I never did before until i found a way to get a full combo off it. It goes something like – instant stomp, air-dash to cross up light upkick, it’ll combo and from there you can pick your combo. I go for j.h, jc, airdash, j.h…etc… you know the rest… I’ll make a quick video for it when i have time. It looks funny.

Sounds good!
Its actually rare for me to use the instant stomp kick because if I miss, I’ll have a bigger recovery time, so I prefer the jL -> L Lightining Legs.
Even though the damage is low, I have some really good resets. I got a very nice reset that even if the opponent blocks, it will keep them in the corner for another one.
I recorded a few matches this weekend, and I suppose I have it recorded on those matches.

I’ll be waiting for your video!

sup chun li doods. quick question, how do i jump out of chuns legs hyper when its blocked or i miss with it?

if it’s blocked then pushed back, you can jump cancel.
