I’m debating picking this game up, but am curious what you guys think now that it’s out of beta. Judging by the tone of the thread I assume you guys are enjoying it.
I just have a couple of quick questions: Was the GCD ever sped up from the beta phases? Did they ever take certain things off of GCD, like gladiators stuns or pugilists hay maker?
Nope, GCD still at 2.5 seconds and dumb as hell. GLD’s stun hasn’t been changed.
Calling it now but there’s gonna be a LOT of shit players walking around at max level. Not surprising when all everyone does is zerg FATEs all day for xp. Nothing is learned and there’s no sense of party mechanics or how to properly play their class when their rotation consists of mindlessly mash weapon skills for a minute, finish FATE, call your mount, ride to the next FATE with the other 100 zerglings, repeat x 50 levels.
The class missoins (at least for gladiator) do make an attempt at teaching the job. The one I just took, before yet another crash, the class gladiator lady person is sending me in with a healer, and told me to make sure I keep them all on me and to use my flash technique.
But yeah, lots of FATE farming from what I can tell, I’m trying to level of hunting log and class quests, I’m trying to as few sidequests as possible for the next jobs I do.
I have a screenshot of me in the ground, is there an easy way to post that?
It’s safety in numbers and unless SE nerfs the xp rewarded or implements a diminishing return that kicks in when the game detects all you’re doing is grinding FATEs they are the easiest, fastest and lowest path of resistance to hitting level cap. I mostly do dungeons and it’s easy to tell who the fate grinders are. The tanks don’t mark targets or have tunnel vision, DPS attacking whatever the hell they feel like and/or they have their AOEs mapped to 1-2-3 and the healer runs in the opposite direction of the tank when they pull aggro. People don’t even know there’s an aggro meter under their class icon that tells you exactly how much hate you have and when the mob is about to attack you.
Adding restrictions to FATES in some way is the right idea. 50+ people all on the same dude is confusing as shit… makes classes pointless when your screen looks like a fucking acid trip. You can literally join one with aggro on some other GLD and set your shit to auto and walk away b/c of how threat works.
This is disappointing to hear. The biggest thing keeping me away from this game was the lackluster combat system and face roll easy content. Guess I’ll just keep my eye on it and hope things improve.
People talk like fates are some grand design that should be tuned for the sake of difficulty or whatever you’re all saying. They are just exp supplements. Don’t over think them, go auto attack a few mobs and get a shit ton of experience and move on, it’s nothing that needs discussing. There are plenty of mid and high level instances and duties for you all to fail at if you feel fates aren’t giving you the challenge you deserve.
You’re right about it not being important enough to warrant discussion from some random people on a forum, but it’s still something to consider in the long run–it isn’t like MMOs aren’t good at destroying IRL relationships already. Eventually, someone’s going to ask, “How can we improve on this concept?”
That aside, I’m pretty sure these are just minor peeves to the few of us that might be worked out in the future. SRK tends to hyperbolize.
I really do enjoy the fuck outta this game shit now I just want to get to level 50 and get that artifact armor etc!! not gonna rush it too much but Im down for SRK to party up and smack fates around lol!!
Fuck all these noobs out here in Ishgard. I came here day 1 and it was so chill and peaceful. Now there are mouthbreathers everywhere shouting for Fate spam, and everything’s lagged up. Can’t even see when some monsters do attacks, so one second, I’d be fine, next second, I’d be dead by OHKO. 10 secs later, the enemy that aggro’d and killed me appears on screen.
