First of all I want to say that I am sorry for us having to go into maintenance for the NA/EU servers. I want to apologize for taking precious time away from players during early access. From here on out is a long journey. starts to tear up, crowd gives encouragement
Its almost been 3 years since I took over development for FFXIV. At the time I hadn’t been involved with the game that much, and I thought that it wouldn’t be that big of a deal to remake it. I have always loved final fantasy and have always loved mmo’s. starts to tear up again At the time, I gathered the team together and told them that we were going to remake the game just two days before we announced it to all of you on December 2nd.
I still remember it now, but at the time, we were in a studio like this one, and Souken (current director of game music) was in the background checking my mic levels. I clearly remember him standing there give me a guts pose (one fist in the air, think rocky) but at the time I had the same kind of worries as the players; how is this really going to turn out?.. Isn’t this going to be impossible… pauses
But one by one I got support from all of you. It was said in the questions earlier, but normally an mmo takes 4-5 years to create and carefully plan. Earlier, Wada said his role is a tank. I had the same idea of being a tank when making this game. Up until now I have gone through each facet of the game (implies that he also bore all of the responsibility).
But I am not saying that it is just me who made FFXIV ARR. This was all due to the players around the world, the core staff here, and the hundreds of staff not here today. I came here today planning on not crying, but today we have finally taken the first step with ffxiv arr. And it is only the first step. Honestly I don’t think we have any time to rest. We are working on patches and expansions.
More than anything I want to thank the players, especially those who started from the original FFXIV, and those that have joined our community. Thank you all for all of your support so far. I only hope that we have released a game that will not bring shame to square enix. from here on out there is no finishing an mmorpg. FFXIV:ARR is not a game that we made alone, but a game that we made along with all of you. From here on out we home to keep creating this game from here on out, from this place with you for 5-10 years.
I again want to say thank you for all you have done so far and we hope for your support in the future. bows

Well I’m getting new errors now. It kicked me from the game at some point last night, and now I’m getting errors for the lobby screen. If I do somehow get past that it can’t update the server list.

So I’ve only downloaded like half of the game, wouldn’t be surprising if a bunch of people buying the game yesterday causes problems, during download at least twice “server stopped responding”, so I still got like 5-6 hours left of download, but I left it on overnight and basically it was pointless cause it downloaded 200 Mbs and then server dced me I guess. That was after it downloaded for like 6 hours without stopping.

Try port forwarding. I did it awhile ago and I’ve never had issues with the updater since. Usually takes less than an hour for me.

So… Was doing Tam quest, game decides to black screen… Then 15min later into Tam, game devices to give me error 10102 can not connect to server… Wtf! I’m sure the gladiator I was healing appreciated his CNJ to just vanish lol

I wish I could download 8Gbs in an hour. I should have mentioned it was digital download, because my local target didn’t even get their preorders in on Tues.

I chatted with the electronics guy who had preordered initially.

Edit again: Lol, they initially said they were only expanding their japan datacenters, and a whole lot of NA/EU shit their pants. They clarified that they meant all lol.

Sux so bad had to go back to work, should have extended my vacation to play more lol. If I can stay connected to the servers that is lol.

Yes folks I am a lv 23 LNC at this time while mapping aka running for my life

They hit me up like dude lv 23? Im like yep just mapping. How did you stay alive? my response Im niiice.

So here i was proud of myself lv 23 LNC and lv 10 Pug and this crew was 50 already. like 18hrs into the release.

SMDH its ok I am proud Im lv 30 LNC now and Lv 15 pug cause i wanted some of those skills, now Im about to lv up MRD so dont sleep on me. On my chocobo ill go anywhere!! I bet their mapping achievements dont look like mine tho!!! lol.

Well here’s something new… Connected to the servers finally, after 30minutes of trying. 45seconds after connecting, connection fails… Some ass hole driving a pick up truck decided to run into a power pole outside and I guess my block has no power right now. GG sir, thank you for texting and driving and making me miss out on some exp.
1hr until power gets restored lol

Just got the game. Do I have to play on JP server or what? All NA servers are closed to new characters…

Yeah this is kinda stupid, the NA servers are so overloaded that until they upgrade the datacenters NA servers are on lockdown.

Anyone know if EU servers are also on lockdown?

Did a couple of refreshes. EU servers seem to be taking people, and one US server Admantoise (sp?) seems to be taking new characters. I really wanted to be on Leviathan though.

Anyone know if there are going to be server transfers any time soon?

um seriously what is there to do in this game when you hit lvl 50 in less than 48hrs? Get the best equips? I’m guessing you try starting from lvl1 with another character and try mastering all classes?
