The Final Fantasy XIII series thread. Black people sold separately

damn. i don’t think i knew that either. with that said, there should never, and i mean NEVER be another rotating map in an rpg again. ever.

I am going to be completely honest, I played this on 360 and I looked everywhere including the map screen for it… I think they seriously forgot on 360 to put an indicator on it or something…

English version of the song is out now in HQ.

^^some of the lyrics are way off…but ill probably wont notice while playing…

Because as far as storyline and plot went those games were the worst of the whole series. Tidus? Was the worst main character ever to exist in the franchise. I would have rather played a pink moogle. If you grew up starting at X I might understand why you think those games were good, but if you were playing before then (especially if you started playing during the original) you can clearly see how the story telling went in the dumps at X.

Granted 8 was not much better. 8, X and X2 were just bad.

I think you and I could be good friends :).

Seriously I thought FF8 after Disc 1 went totally off the rails and into the crap (I think FF8 is one of those games you either love or hate and I’m not on the love side). I thought X was eh (not bad but average)… X2 mechanically did some interesting things but from a story telling standpoint fell flat (I think largely because the writing for the characters was generally poor).

I think we need to get everyone to play 4, 5, and 6 and then reboot Final Fantasy from there (and just to please the PSX generation fanboys we’ll even consider letting you include FF7…). I should say though that I’m also generally in the minority who really enjoyed Final Fantasy 9 as my favorite FF of the PS1 era so… my opinions are strictly my own

Personally, I thought FFX-2’s story and plot and even writing were pretty damn good compared to other installments in the series. Or at least, the highs were higher highs and the lows weren’t as low as some others, if you get my drift.

It’s not stellar or anything, but enjoyable enough and I liked how Yuna as a character ended. Rikku totally did a regression though :frowning:

9 is awesome, but so is 7, don’t sell it short.

Nah I loved 9 way better than 8. 9 was like a throwback but they just threw it way back…lol. Thought i was gonna have to buy magic in the towns again…lol.

So apparently there will be a collesium where you can battle monsters, and there will also be DLC, including:

then its preordered. optional boss battle? good…good.
omega joining the party? eh. i’m still not on board with the whole two party members thing + controlling an enemy. can the new nigga they created for ffXIII-2 just do blue magic and call it a day?

i wonder if its possible to replace him, get three “regular” party members and play through the game at some point like that.

as far as more optional boss choices, can we get get shinryu tho? and gilgamesh? czar dragon??? a new, larger, more vile malboro???

Reminds me of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Hopefully though by endgame we can put anyone we want into our party.

I forgot who the Dragoon’s name is, but I think they could make a game with him as the main character or such lol.

Oh don’t get me wrong. 7 is a perfectly fine game… It’s #4 or #5 depending on the mood I’m in for me in terms of where i rank it with other Final Fantasies (4, 6, 9, then either 5 or 7).

Maybe its just a matter of taste but I respectfully disagree. But it could be that I was spoiled on the writing in the SNES era and hold RPG’s to an unfair standard. But X-2 story wise didn’t resonate with me to even the same level as its predecessor X did. I did like quite a few of the gameplay choices in X-2 and I liked the job system and I think the characters were fun, but I didn’t get that same level of depth that I had expected. But I’m not one of the people who hates on X-2 to the point where they think its like the secret hidden sequel to Mystic Quest or something… I think its a perfectly fine game but I just REALLY want to Square Enix to have its next FF be a masterpiece and my fear is with XIII as the framework its not as likely… But who knows, if Chrono Fantasy 13-2 doesn’t cut it, I’ll still buy it and play it and then wait for FF15 someday…

Stop lying. VII had problems. throws up at thought of materia

IDK why it sounds like you are gunning at my neck, but I digress.

Who played X-2 for story? Everyone knows the battle and job system is what drove that game. You must accept that Balthier is XII’s main character to say Tidus is the worst. I would snatch him up over a league of other characters. I loved the sphere grid, and the CTB. Took them 10 fuckin years to change the battle system son. IDK about you but setting up my haste and autos (coupled with some OP Quick Attacks) was fun as shit. PEople didn’t like the sphere grid because everyone became the same…ONLY if you chose to make them the same. You didn’t have to enable everyone with the same abilities. Not to mention it had the best Summoning system of any FF. X’s cast is imo as good if not better than IV’s. Niggas always say Tidus bitched and shit but wanna give someone like Celes leeway. She tried to off herself because of Cid and that she was stuck on an island all by her lonesome. Tidus can’t have a couple sniffles because he believed for the longest that his pops walked out on him and his world got destroyed? Nah B. I liked all of Spira and it’s history was well developed/thought out imo. Natural disasters, racism, Aeons, and Fayths made it seem like you are in the middle of a history textbook. I think everyone had a sick back story. Wakka, Lulu, and Chappu. Kimahri’s conflicts with fellow Ronsos. Riku and the Al-Bhed’s plans to save Yuna, and even discovering why she was cool with doing the Final Summoning in the first place. You saw the effects it had on the whole world and you realize that She would’ve done anything to bring about an Eternal Calm. Even if it means going against the established relegion. Which brings about another side to the plot with the hypocrisy of the Maesters and what Seymour did . And Auron…needs no explanation. Shoutouts to Tidus for actually baggin his bitch and not letting her die.

8 aint got shit on X yo. People didn’t like X because of the “linearity” until the airship. But fuck it. I enjoy controlled rides as long as their dope. I mean XII had expansive freedom and cool side quests but I hated that shit. People either love or hate XII, and VI is beginning to reach VII levels of overrating. This is coming from someone who’s top 3 are:
X
VI
VII tied with IV

Just what I think though. /no shots

No. Please don’t refer to this game. I’m begging you.

And why is niggas hating on X-2?

Oh, don’t worry. I hated that shit with a passion too. Hell, the fanfics I wrote in 10th grade were better than the shit they came up with for a “sequel” in that game.

People don’t get that that shit was basically a prototype tho? From battle system to the mission selection, that was and most likely will be a template for every FF after. Square even realized that game was only a skeleton at best. “Hey let’s try all these things and provide closure to the X story. Who gives a fuck along the way. The end will suffice.” Thus why they put the mechanics into a sequel first so they knew people play it, then implement it into other FFs that “are only FFs by name”. Not as many numbers would’ve played through FF: A New Story compared to a X-2. Thats at least what I respect it for…

humms Real Emotion

actually…

forget the post i just posted. which is better to you guys and why?

ffVI or ffVII?

i’m going with ffVII (i have my reasons) but i’m going to do a playthrough of ffVI perhaps this week…maybe next. i was really trying to finish IX but i’m tempted to run through VI again since i’ve only played and beaten it once a long time ago and i just got another jailbroken ps3…

I was talking about the sequel to Tales of Symphonia there bro, not FFXIII.
