You know XIII-2 is going to aggravate everyone who was disappointed with XIII because it’s going to be everything the original game should have been:
-Better equipment customization
-Less linear world
-Varied sidequests (and not just “kill X monster”)
-Improved Crystarium (where you’re presented with actual choices)
They pulled the same shit with FFXII when they released the International version.
I gotta respectfully disagree with you. While I can agree that the soundtrack isn’t as energetic or memorable as Uematsu’s work Hamauzu did a pretty good job with the mood. Oh…and you forgot . This just happens to be blasting through my speakers right now since I’m on Chap. 7.
Versus looks incredible! I was practically salivating when I saw that trailer! I also don’t get why people hate FF 13. I absolutely loved it. I’m looking forward to FF 13-2.
Everything people said that they found bad about XIII, I found was pretty accurate. It’s just that it was worse for some than others. I like FF but I’m not deep into it. So I thought XIII wasn’t too bad. Vanille was cute but I raised a brow at how she “runs”. I didn’t like anyone really in XIII. Nor did I care about the story at all. While I did favor the battle system, I hated losing because the leader died. Also the AI wasn’t as bad as the AI in the Tales series. I think that some of the hate is an overreaction because people make it sound like it was a 2.0 game or something horrible. I blame that on them being far bigger fans than I am.
Versus has my interest because of simple kinda petty shit like black being my favorite color, things seeming to have a darker look to everything, a ton of swords. XIII-2 is nothing to me at the moment. They’ll have to pull some really amazing things with that for me to say I care.
Not as memorable is indeed right, I’m afraid. I don’t even remember such a song (Snow’s Theme) ever playing in the game, lol.
PS: Keep an eye on the VG Music thread–I’m gonna post up some marvelous stuff from a far superior RPG (in my very humble opinion) in a bit.
This is pretty much #1 for me on the list of failures in this game. At the end of it all, I realized that the game did not make me give two shits about any character in the game. Not even one. The storyline did absolutely nothing for me as well. At no point in the game was I invited to invest emotion. At the end of the game, I felt like I had just finished one huge ass, 80 hour chore. There is no bigger failure in an RPG than not being able to have players of the game be emotionally invested in the story or characters to some degree.
Versus 13 looks good. Liked a slowed down Kingdom Hearts BBS mixed with a mass number of enemies ala Dynasty Warriors. Hope it doesn’t become as repetitive as the latter.
Really liked XIII, particularly the battle system, looking forward to XIII-2. If they want to keep the same system though, lemme use Gambits or some equivalent at least, dammit. And the Crystarium should have a bit more flexibility at least. (Liked the main cast too, but found the enemy cast so boring…also welcomed the lack of towns.)
I enjoyed 13’s soundtrack. I also liked this one: UEYttrTF10A]YouTube - Final Fantasy XIII OST - March of the Dreadnoughts [Enhanced
