Actually Snow was more of the ‘save everyone’/hero mentality, there were scenes throughout the game where he shows how the Purge and all the paranoia against l’Cie is over exaggerated and only serves to ruin lives.
I agree. I dislike all the linearity critiques because the game was intended to keep you moving at a rapid pace. I’m not even going to use the phrase linear anymore when describing the game to people asking about it. Think I’m going to just call it “streamlined” from now on, cause it’s exactly what they intended to do, and exactly what was accomplished. And you know what? It was enjoyable, and cut out the crap that usually made you pass out on your couch playing at 2am anyway.

Haste is good, but on orphan I really needed him to cast protect on me first. Orphan was a punk ass bitch.
Finally got a Chocobo!!! Was too busy spamming Mission 7 for Bomb Cores to upgrade with, and Mission 24 for Moonblossom seeds to make some Gil.
Just gotta say that Ch 11 is hilarious. Even if you wanted to go and continue with the story, it would still take you 5 hours to finish the mandatory steps, after you grind for 2-3 hours in order to be able to fight the monsters there.
I finally beat all the missions (with quite a few 5-stars, though only a 4 star on mission 64). Only 4 trophies left. 1 for 5-starring all missions, 5-star final battle, killing a long gui, and getting all the weapons and accessories. I dunno if I have the patience to do these, haha. I tried killing a long gui (for like 30 minutes), and it stomped me down hard. I might be able to get the final battle trophy because I have 2 ultimate weapons and everyone is at max crystarium.
Got 2 more trophies left. Treasure hunter and Adamant Will.
Anyone know where to farm Adamantites and Dark Matter?
damn was close to killing a long gui, then it roared and ultima’d. it was probably near 15%. Sucks I can’t kill it in one stagger, at that point I needed a third stagger and I could have taken it.
I’m assuming you already know the fight, but I suppose giving you my steps to making turtle soup wouldn’t hurt.

For paradig-ems, I went with;
- sen / sen / sen
- sab / med / med
- sab / sab /sab
- syn / syn / syn
- com / com / com
- rav / rav / rav
Set the #4(SYN) paradig-em as default. Soon as you enter the battle, auto-battle yourself (you’ll cast Haste) and immediately switch to #1.
LEG FIGHT!!!
Soon as the initial attack is done, switch to #2 and Imperil and Deprotect the leg you will attack while being healed. After debuffing, switch to #6 and rape that debuff’d leg until it staggers. Keep increasing the stagger limit until about 550%-650% then switch to #5 and Highwind the living shit out of it. Leg should be “destroyed” after that. Rinse and repeat for the other leg. Switch to #1 when necessary and heal with #2.
HEAD FIGHT!!!
Soon as you confirm that Leonardo has dead legs, poke the legs and laugh… that prickly feeling when your legs fall asleep is no joke. It can disable a man. XD
But jokes aside, soon as you see the turtle fall, switch to #3 and debuff the head with Imperil, Deprotect/shell, and Slow. Then switch over to #4 and buff Bravery on Fang, and Faith on Vanille and Hopeless. Shift to #6 to build up stagger to 850%-900%, then switch to #5 and go ape-shit with the team. Right before the stagger ends, Highwind for extra damage.
Required equips would be at least one Genji Glove. If you have three, put it on all of them. Vanille and Hopeless can surprisingly break the damage cap. Their ultimate weapons, doesn’t have to be max. Mine were between 35-50 so if you have yours maxed, even better. Strength acc for Fang, and give whatever you want to the two preferably STR equips to maximize damage. I prefer Iron and Mithril Bagnle on Hopeless for the High HP Power Surge synthesized ability.
Rinse and repeat as many times as necessary. Eventually you’ll be able to streamline this/your own adapted method and kill them like you did with all your pet turtles… with the quickness.
Ugh, I have so many items to upgrade… I need to farm adamantites(can I even farm them?) and a truckload of pervoskites -___________-. Not to mention I need a good solid source of income.
thanks for the tips, I’ll try that next time. I was using Fang, Lightning(hoping for quick staggers ), Sahz. and my setup sounded similar to yours. I think I just got overzealous in attacking the legs and got owned by the roar/ultima combo.
and I know what you meant about upgrading a ton of items. I need to make a damn checklist if I plan to get that trophy. Shit is probably the “hardest” trophy, but not because it’s difficult but because it takes so damn long to farm what you need. I might end up getting all the trophies except treasure hunter, and just leave it alone for a while. Then one day come back and farm again lol
Yeah, being overzealous/greedy is usually the only way I die. Or the asshole gets lucky and Roar disables the whole team then finishes me off with stomp. q_q
As for Treasure Hunter, it’s the only thing left for me… I’m determined to get it done though. Just doing it at a really slow pace.
After reading so much about the fight in this thread, I was rather underwhelmed by Dahaka. Barthelandus(part two) was much harder.
I’m probably going to try my damnedest to beat this game bullrush style, then go back and really grind my arse off. I’m not sure if I’m going to max out every character or just the three I use(Fang, Vanille, and Sazh).

I don’t know why it wouldn’t. Very few things in the game are Death-resistant. I kiled Neochu in about 30 seconds with Death.

random instant stagger = 5 star cactuar king. at least it worked for me.
i was hoping to avoid praying for instant stagger, i have spent 2 hours so far now starting the fight and hoping for it to land with no results.
Death won’t work on Gigantuar, but daze will.
I got 5 stars with random instant stagger on my 20th try.
