ok, so yeah did the mission 63 farming last night as well as 3 other spawns in the steppe each trip.
so 3 adamantortoise kills and 1 adamantoise per run and what happened last night was a shitload of plat ingots, and i also found out why traps aren’t dropping. adamantortoise and adamantoise have only a 1% drop rate as a base to work with for traps… which is pathetic, meanwhile the stronger long gui has 5% drop chance, and shadowlong gui have 5% drop chance on dark matter.
anyways i got my turtle killing down to 2-4 minute fights without summons, -sols or death, here is what you do:
your party needs to be well developed to pull this off, i used fang lightning hope.
paradigms
com com rav
com rav rav
syn syn syn (starting paradigm)
sab sab sab
med med med
rav rav rav
so when the fight starts you want to cast faithra and bravera on all 3 members of your party, you should take 1 to 2 stomps to the face during this process, then switch to 5 and cure up really fast before moving into 6 to quickly go all out on one leg or the other. soon as it hits stagger change into relentless assault and activate highwind on the staggered leg for a instant kill.
then pop back into 5 to get your health up before going back to 6 to take out the other leg, same deal as soon as it staggers go to 2 and pop a highwind on the fucker. ok both legs are dead and the turtle is coming down, quickly switch to 4 and spam enfeebles till you have slow, deprotect, deshell and imperil on the mob, then swap to 6 to get it to stagger, once the % is around 700 move to 2, and once it hits 999 switch to paradigm 1, fight should be over in about 40-50 seconds once he hits the ground.
best part about actually fighting them is that you don’t have to go build up tp between each fight, i spent about 2-3 hours doing this last night and walked away with 13 platinum ingots (of course no traps…)
-the genji glove
-fought a tonberry
-fought cactuars
-got the last store with organyx and dragoon lance in it
-maxed out fang’s dragoon lance to get kain’s lance level 28 or so.
etc etc
i still feel like this kind of stuff should have been in main part of the game earlier (late game) rather than post game. while we’re on it, i wish the last dungeon was better. dunno, maybe the sequel will improve on my grocery list of complaints, lol.
ok so here is my list of stuff square did right for this game:
the battle theme (when it played…which is relatively often, i guess)
the theme that plays when you fight odin (it plays other times too)
the entire chapter 12
the last boss battle
a few of the enemies (i posted a list a few pages ago) look DOPE to me
the mini map in the corner showing footsteps so that you can tell where you’ve been so you won’t get lost.
i suppose the treasure that you found showing up on the map is kind of a plus, despite my previous post, because you know whether or not you’ve been through that area before. there’s a pro and a con to it.
stores at savepoints being like some internet type of thing. good shit although i still want to see stores in towns…maybe an internet cafe or something. play with this idea more, square. i like it.
the graphics during cutscenes…although we live in a time where those graphics could have been in playable areas of the game, IMHO.
a female heroine (i like that…nice change up)
the battle system, minus the leader death party death thing.
i’m not sure if i like the crystarium but if i had to have one in a game, this is how it would be minus the strength nodes for mages. that was a waste.
fuck it, the graphics for the most part.
yes, the first few chapters were linear but they were good to me, so i’m throwing these on the list.
the menus were dope to me. the graphics, layout, etc.
so you can get three traps and 200k gil. i don’t know if its such a good idea tho seeing as it will take awhile to be able to afford to upgrade kain’s lance to lvl 100.
i’d rather farm traps and get CP in the process.
i totally forgot about the ribbon. gonna try to find it now and then i guess CP farm. exactly when do you start doing obsene amounts of damage? i have genji gloves and maxed out one role (lvl. 5) for each character and the other main roles at level 4…do all main roles have to be maxed out at level 5 for you to start doing like 30k a hit (regularly) and all of that?
what do everyone’s stats look like?
hp, strength, magic, weapons and accessory combinations, etc.?
i think you would have to max out their final weapon, then equip kaiser knuckles on your character/s. ribbons are easy to get, just fight the flowering cactuars in the faultwarrens, they sometimes drop em or dismantle a fully upgraded goddess favor
I’m lost, I’m at Jurassic Park w/Behemot and Dog. Also got 3x on Hope’s weapon, but what do I use to upgrade it? Should I leave it as is and just finish Chap 11 then do all this upgrading stuff?
I think certain Kain’s Lances, depending on which spear you upgrade from, will dismantle differently and give you only 2 traps, which is what I got from the dismantle chart in the official guide. Some variants of the Nirvana also dismantle to give you 3 traps.
I went and upgraded a Shamanic spear to a maxed Kain’s Lance for about 1.5 million gil and dismantling it gave me 3 traps.
when you accept mission 42, it takes you to the salamandrine path, there you will find them, but kill them quickly, they have a tendency to run away lols
thx. one more question…is there a way to just go directly to that mission or do i really have to do previous missions before i get access to that stone?
i don’t mind if i have to repeat missions but i need to know the exact path that will lead to mission 42…
also do you get anything for completing all paths because if not, once i defeat neochu and flowering cactuars, i’m done. i already did what i came to do (get access to mission 63 which i beat, tonberries and whatever else i forgot).
^you can’t preemptive strike him like you could in the japanese version, iirc.
…so i beat neochu in 48 seconds using summon x death. didn’t have to take on the microchus. not sure if thats a good thing or not since they aren’t in my bestiary because of that. oh well. reaps the benefits of the battle
