I’m still confused by the story… grand pulse, cocoon, l’cletus, bart simpson, etc
how long do you guys think I should grind at Hope’s house? I want to see if I can grind there for like 1 hr a day for a week.
that’d be a huge waste of time. not really worth it to grind until chapter 12 IMHO.
you should be good just by fighting every monster in your path in chapters 1-11.
waste of time. don’t grind until the behe vs. dog spot in ch 11
the behemoth vs the dog is a waste of time IMO too.
i say just do that spot until you fill out vanille’s sab role and get death. after that move on. farming traps by defeating adamantoises in chapter 12 gives you 40k cp a fight. that is waaay better than any of the grind spots in chapters 1-11. plus the battles in chapter 12 give you tons of cp anyway. going back and forth through the first section should net you like 60k and then the next section will give you 60k as well if you do the same thing, plus you get credit and incentive chips. then
chapter 12 stuff
Spoiler
you fight a boss and a smaller turtle right after you get through the second session which nets you a lot of cp. then you have more monsters after that and then
you get to the grind spot with the save point and the turtle. easy cp, probably get a trap or two plus you get items that you can sell for mad money. its just a waste of time IMO to grind in any chapter that isn’t 9 and 12.
in terms of cp grinding dog and behe still yields me the most cp per hour spent farming. the only reason that i stopped spamming that local after finishing up the main 3 cp grids was because i knew i would have to farm for gil and would get cp there anyways.
my main problem with the turtle spot is 2-fold. first off i havn’t even been using death to kill them (given how long it took for neochu i assume it will take too long to do it that way). but because i’m actually killing them i’m having to use a fortisol every trip, and like i said… i’m not getting any traps and only 2 plat ingots so far, really disapointed with it.
if you use death you don’t have to waste a fortisol on them. it either works or it doesn’t. i’m out of the fight by the first stomp either way.
once i see them stand up, i know its a wrap and i hit restart. then i try again. usually vanille’s death works and i don’t have to resort to that. its much faster than getting like 6-12k cp in that behemoth fight. screw all that. this is what you do:
- keep your -sols.
- save near the turtle. or not. doesn’t matter.
- have vanille first. whoever else you have doesn’t matter necessarily…but i like two sabs in the party.
- enter fight. summon immediately.
- summon takes the legs out. you cast as many status effects as you want.
- once status effects hit, spam death.
- death, death, death, death til it hits.
if it hits
8a. 40000 cp and maybe a plat ignot or a trap
9a. fight the soldiers nearby for easy tp gain. then run down the area and back up to respawn the turtle.
if it doesn’t hit
8b. if the turtle stands up, restart and try again.
f fighting the dude. whats the point? i mean once or twice to show yourself and your friends, cool…but after that it just seems faster to spam death. even if you run out of tp you get easy tp AND cp AND incentive/credit chips from the nearby soldiers. its a win win. winning by death nets you tp gain because you will always 5 star the fight. the nearby soldiers act as easy tp gain and good items to sell and should always be a 5 star fight as well.
you’ll have hundreds of thousands of cp plus many items to sell. iirc the female soldiers there give perfumes, too. and there’s a chocobo doll or something in a chest over there. you’re good.
vs. a boring ass fight against a wolf and a behemoth that gives you like 6k gil (or 12k gil with the growth egg)…and no worthwhile items to sell for easy gil.
Oh shit , I did not even know that. Well damn , that really makes me excited. Have they given out like any new info on versus or just the old stuff that everyone has seen?
well, in terms of fighting the fight i’m doing it with summon first, then while summon is out i enfeeble it, then release summon and go all out for stagger. it has yet to stand back up before i kill it this way, but i do have to use a fortisol to make that happen.
i’ll give your death method a try when i get home tonight because i’m hardly making any money when i have to use fortisol on each fight and am getting less than 10% drop on platinum ingots.
oh… and what’s your drop rate like? cause yeah, still no traps for me, starting to think they are a lie.
My strategy that doesn’t involve any shrouds or summons is to just go into battle with one constant SEN which for me is Fang, Hope as SYN and MED, and Vanille as the leader and constant SAB spamming death.
Fang is equipped with 2 maxed power gloves and maxed Venus Gospel
Hope is equipped with a maxed general belt for physical resistance and maxed Hraesvelg for extended buff duration
Vanille is equipped with sprint shoes and Marlboro Wand for increased chances for debuffs
With Fang’s SEN Fringeward ability and protect casted Adamantoise’s stomp only does 3-4k damage to each character. Shell is also necessary against Quake.
When things get tough I can always use the MED/SEN/MED paradigm. The only way my party can die is if Adamatoise’s roar stuns both Vanille and Hope and he stomps me before I can recover.
I’ve had some battles last less than a minute and others last well over 10. No traps yet, but enough ingots for me to buy one now.
what the game needs is an easy way to get dark matter…
So I’m about to start chapter 11. Haven’t played in a week, and I don’t feel compelled to go back. This shit always happens in RPGs for me. Fuck.
11 & 12 are the best chapters of the game, don’t miss it.
chapter 11 is where the game opens up and you have freedom. when you continue the story it does get tedious but hang in there because chapter 12 IMO is the best chapter in the game. you have full freedom, the scenery is dope, you can start upgrading, etc.
there are a lot of things to do in chapter 11 however that should be enjoyable to you…the missions can be cool.
Nomura said that they just got the AIRSHIP working on the WORLD MAP!!!
only thing killing it for me is that it’ll probably play like kingdom hearts (the battle system).
if they could just make it turn based…
the airship and world map thing…THANK YOU LORD JESUS.
the battle system…eh…not into beat em up rpg’s other than river city ransom.
So how do you guys really level up? Are you supposed to level up the WEAPONS? I’m unsure of how to increase my attacks power and add more spells (I’m in chapter 5, fighting the Venusaur looking boss). I maxedout my Commando, Ravager, Medic to level 2, but I want to level up, but I don’t know how because the rings stopped at ROLE PLAYER. Also, I’ve been upgrading my experience points on weapons and a few accessories. What’s the best way to increase my strength overall?
its pretty much a waste of time to upgrade so early…at least thats the general consensus. the cp grid is capped depending on the chapter so instead of grinding, just fight everything in your path and you should be straight. the game from chapter 1-10 is more about paradigms than levels, IMHO.
at the end of each chapter, just from fighting you should have enough cp to almost max out the grid for your three main roles. refrain from upgrading weapons or equipment, tho. its not needed just yet.
also, someone on another site posted a .rar folder of all 260 or so pages of the strategy guide… i don’t know if i can post the link here?
yeah the Strategy Guide works wonders with this game. Hell it even tells you straight not to upgrade nothing till like Chapter 11-12. There are some points in the early chapters where the guide will tell you where to grind if you’re trying to cap out the roles at certain points.
As much as I LOVE KH series, we need a brand new battle system. Games have evolved since then so I expect something truly original. I want a FF13 - KH hybrid type of battle system or something.
