I beat this game yesterday, and I must say that that was the worst ending of any type of story I have played/read. I went from happy, to confused, to laughing at what the hell was going on, to confused, and then bored after sitting through the credits…

I agree.

The story of FFXIII-2 in general was pretty stupid. Tons of plot holes and things that make no sense and were left unexplained:

Note: dont read unless you’ve seen the secret ending.

[]Why did Sarah’s clothes change at the beginning?
[
]What’s the story with Allessa? So she works for Caius, but why? What does she have to gain?
[]So when Serah yells at Hope after killing the Proto Fal’Cie 3+ times, Hope (after seeing this through the Oracle Drive) decides to not create the Proto Fal’Cie, which wipes it out of existence. OK, I get that, but shouldn’t he have already saw that before Sarah and Noah went there? Shouldn’t Hope have already saw that they would eventually have to fight the thing and made that decision well before they even went to the Augesta tower?
[
]Why would Snow be wiped out of existence after the “Royal Ripeness” incident because “he has no reason to be there”, yet Noel and Sareh were not wiped out when Hope decides not to create the Proto Fal’Cie? This one really bugs me. Really the whole Proto Fal’Ce Adam/400AF/AI revolt thing is just dumb.

Now I know that these questions can be answered with a combination of [details=Spoiler]“It was a paradox!”[/details] or [details=Spoiler]“Noah and Serah are blessed by the goddess!”[/details], but I think that just exposes the big issue with the story. The developers created this abstract concept (paradox) that give them the liberty to explain away any plot holes that develop in their quest to set up various situations, for the sake of design and gameplay.

When I first heard [details=Spoiler]“If you change the future, you change the past”[/details] I knew this was going to be a bumpy ride.

But, having said all that, I like the game. The things that really matter to me an an RPG: battle system and music, were great. The music is particular was amazing: one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard. And despite the issues with the story, it was follow-able. Although much of the time I was completely confused, when I read all the fragments, and saw the paradox endings and secret ending, I understand what happened.

Overall, it was time well spent. (no pun intended)

im at 159 fragments now, last one having to complete the beastiry list.
Im rocking Yakshini, Cloudburst, and Chichu team, all maxed and with best skills and abilities. This team is pretty much broken, as no mob poses any real threat anymore (not considering DLC).

Im going to work on the last fragment slowly, but right now im going to grind out an all chocobo team, maybe purple, green, blue?

It would be cool if we could tame the giant turtle.

Chocobos are only better than Cloudburst and Chichu if you use Pack Mentality. The catch is only Chichu and Nanochu have Pack Mentality so you have to give one of them up (Nanochu obviously).

I can explain at least one of those…

What’s the story with Allessa? So she works for Caius, but why? What does she have to gain?

Spoiler

Remember in the beginning of the game when Alyssa had this freak out in front of the gravestone claiming that she remembered dying during the purge and saw her name on that grave as she rose out of it? Basically the whole thing was implying that she actually DID die in the Purge during the real FFXIII timeline, but the past was changed so her friend died instead. So her existence is a total paradox. When Noel and Serah fix all the paradoxes, she gets fixed too, effectively being wiped out of existence. So she helped Caius as kind of a futile attempt to preserve herself.

A bad writer did it.

Thanks i didnt think about that. I just wanted have another thing to do. Level up Yakshini was costly, spent i think $1 million because of Neurosis. Thank god this isnt like FF13.

someone explain the glowing mirror in Sarah’s room

It entered FFXIII-2 through one of The Third Birthday’s plot holes and decided to stick around.

Game doesnt explain why serah and noel can use magic.

It did say at the beginning of the game since people started living on pulse that the general populace evolved to use magic. You could think of it as the next step of human growth in that series that was being stunted by the people being dependant on the fal-ices and once they began to fend for themselves they naturally accuired said power.

Or maybe Titan/Etro is around giving people power. Whatever floats your boat.

Finally got 1 of every accessory though. Ultra complete bestiary (every monster completely libra’d and tamed). Guess all thats left is training monsters. Though after this better farming system (ie you were forced to only farm 1 monster post game), I considering replaying through ff13…

Ultros and friend make their appearance!

English and JP VAs do a wonderful job imo.

lol, not what i expected for the next DLC.

IF I went out and copped this today, how lost would I be from FF13? It’s 40$ on gamestop right now which is the price drop I was waiting for but it seems like its mad complicated and the first one wasn’t really all that great. Picking between this and my next vita game to, I’m sick of buying shit
Basically: Is it worth the buy?

I want me some maxed out money, do you have a link to this by any chance?

does anyone know if auto-haste works the same way as auto-faith and bravery?

The game goes through the backstory behind FF13. You dont need to know anything about FF13 to enjoy FF13-2.

Yes its works the same, however its pointless since its only useful against mobs that you cant preemptive strike. It also has a relative short duration.

darn, i kinda figured that would be the case… really makes me rethink putting it on any of my monster builds…
