The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

Should be able to. There’s a thread in Tech Talk somewhere about what you need [driver-wise] and how to get it going.

Persona 4.

Have any of you played VI? I have it for the PS and so far it’s been the most frustrating Final Fantasy yet for me. The reason is is that the random encounters occur too often and right now I’m stuck at the point where I am supposed to be getting onto the flying continent. I had gotten pretty far at one point until I suddenly died against an enemy counter and dided again a second time. The third time I had beaten Ultros and his sidekick with little health. I didn’t know there was going to be another boss fight right after that. My party was healed, but they dided pretty quickly because that ship makes moves like three times per turn.

I got up to the ghost town place and gave up… 16-bit J-RPG’s are too much for me now…

It’s a sad day when gamers can’t even complete Final Fantasy 6. I don’t remember that game being hard at any point. How someone cannot do that but still be able to breeze some of the cheap crap thrown at you in the newer FF’s is far beyond me.

So a few hours ago I passed by downtown L.A and saw huge ass building posters of the 3 main characters of FFXIII. Coming 2010.

It could just be that they’re bored with it rather than find it difficult.

For instance, I tried replaying Lufia 2 the other day. Holy crap the early parts with Maxim only are really boring and I gave up about 30 minutes in.

Blasphemy!!! I can play that game like it’s fresh every time.

I tried to play Lufia 2 again, but thinking about the garbage ending stopped my hands colder than a knife to the spinal cord.

What’s wrong with the ending?

It is almost as bad any [insert number] Breath of Fire’s ending.

To be fair though, Lufia 1 had one of the alltime best JRPG endings ever, imo.

Only 16 bit RPG esque games I could probably play now are ALttP, Chrono Trigger and Terranigma. I don’t know, random battles in 16 bit a way harder to chew than modern games, granted I love the numbers, but I preffer a bit more maneuverability and fluid gameplay when going back that far. It just feels too much of the same once you get so far, too many battles too often and not enough veriety.

Don’t get me wrong, FFVI is a great game and had I played it when it came out, I would probably love it enough to do the whole thing. But now? Sorry man, can’t do it…

Seiken Densetsu 2 & 3.

'nuff said.

Holy crap! I never even knew these games existed, you sir are a god…

those are 2 of my favorite games ever, good recommendations

A Link to the Past is an RPG? I thought it was an adventu-gets assualted by angry nerds

ah fuckem

never considered zelda an rpg ever

RPG esque, as in top down exploration but not exactly like the generic RPG…

It’s nothing like an RPG. it’s an Adventure game. Your basically Midevil Indiana Jones.

The only thing ALttP is lacking as far as RPG’s go is numbers. Look at Terranigma for example, you run around, chop stuff, it’s basically an action RPG, pretty similar, bar numbers. But meh, who cares, I’d play it…
