The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

Need some help.

My 360 red lighted and I have been into ps2 rpg’s lately. Disgea2 is really good, but seeing how it will take so long to do everything I am looking for a break.

What are some good ps2 rpg’s? I like job classes, item custimization and a good story most importantly. Has anyone played Soul Nomad?

Anyone else think the main girl from 13 looks like a female version of Cloud?

phew, at least they’re calling it a girl.

Wow, I’m making two posts in this thread in two days.

I’m playing FF6 or 3 or whatever( the one w/ Terra, Locke, Kefka, etc.) Anywho, I’m at the part where you get on the raft after leaving the returners hideout. If you get to the part where it says “Left” or “Up” and select “Up” it takes you around in a circle back to that same point. I have the “memory” option for the cursor on b/c I got sick of going to “Tools” and then “Autocrossbow” each time w/ Edgar.

So I’m going in a circle holding down A. When I get back to the UP or LEFT point, I hold A too long and hit UP again. Then it hits me. “Do I really need to be here to do this?” So, I tape down my turbo button. It’s leveling me up right now! I’m using an emulator too so I can speed up the game too. Right now I’m probably winning 20 fights a minute!:lovin:

Here’s what you do. Set “memory” in config. Turn your battle speed all the way up. With Terra and Sabin use “Fight” and use “Autocrossbow” with Edgar. Have Banon use “Health” and tape down that turbo button. Watch it go around a few times to make sure they’re winning and Banon is able to get a “Health” in every now and then. I’d recommend having Banon on the back row and everyone around level 12+.

I started this tonight with around 250 HP on average w/ my characters and they all have about 7000 HP right now.:looney: Of course, the emulator is speeding up the game significantly so you guys playing on console won’t have these results this fast.

OG trick. This powerlevel trick was pretty famous back then too, but the thing is that you aren’t gonna get the level up bonus from Espers. That can mean in the end your character can be half as fast/strong/endurable as his/her potential.

But The game is easy enough that it doesn’t matter I guess. IMO you don’t need to go past lvl 70 in any final fantasy game.

Hate to break it to you, but you’re probably not going to finish this game now. That’s my bet. Want to know why?

Because the game is friggin’ long. Seriously, it’s overly long. You’ll enjoy blasting through the first half of the game… but the second half takes a pretty steep nose-dive in terms of plot/story telling. Oh, it’s still good… just not nearly as good as the first half, as there’s very little story left to tell. It’s more character filler before finally having the inevitable battle.

Point being… it was the minimal challenge of the game that kept me going through the second half. You’re at a point now where I doubt you’ll have much fun sustaining the constant grind to the end. Because while it looks like an end is in sight, you find out that the games goal post is still pretty far away. And trust me, FF6 drags out its ending scenario, especially if you want to get all the characters back and find the two bonus ones.

If you were playing the GBA port, you’d at least have two fairly difficult bonus dungeons to look forward to, but it seems you aren’t.

Yeah I realized that. In retrospect, I probably should have only leveled to about 50 or so instead of maxing out. Sucks b/c I thought I discovered something new:sweat:.

Oh yeah. Locke’s still at his initial level. He’s the only one who doesn’t get insanely powerful from this. And the characters you meet along the way are all around 78 or so. I can still get some bonuses, but not nearly what I could have. I doubt it matters, though.

Your character levels are based on Celes’ level on the second half. So if she leveled pretty high, that means when you recruit locke again in the second half of the game, he’d level up for free.

i just started FFT for psx should i just stick with 1 job per person and master it , like make the wizard and priest learn most of the spells then give them a different one to master.

yea…you could do it that way. In my file everyone besides special characters (including Ramza) only mastered two jobs. I try not to be too cheap when making characters…like giving everyone Blade Grasp or teleport ect…the game will get dumb easy if you take advantage of certain counter and movement abilties some jobs have imo.

  • How come you didnt get the psp version? I heard that version fixed the translation bugs and added cut-scenes, extra jobs, characters. I dont have a psp but i would get one for that game.

With all that said the PS version is still hot to me.
theres maaaad glitches in this game too…take advantage of some of em’ (job point glitch lol) :wgrin:

Default job game with no heroes is probably hardest way to beat Tactics IMO.

o ok thanks , im loving this game. i own a psp i was thinking of buying it but i heard it had delay. So i decided to put the psx version on my psp:tup:

ffxii: beat trickster on my first try. granted, i have 6 deathbringers, main party equiped with shielded armor (can switch armor if switching parties) and 1 bubble belt, my levels are at 32-38 and only vaan and fran have three quickenings. shit, that was tough. As long as I’ve played ff, i’ve only had to use elixers a couple of times when i started playing. For this match, i had to use 3!

i’m loving a lot about this game, but i can’t seem to like the characters as much as i did for the other games. i think doing hunts along with the plot seems to be detracting me from the story.

this game is getting me hyped for xiii.

DHALSIMOWNS:

I know it doesn’t have anything to do with FF, but Magna Carta was a good game.

Regular FFT is really easy, especially once you get the special characters like Agrias… and Thunder God.

Once you get fairly confident, try it again with the 1.3 patch (auritech.eu) and see if you enjoy it even more. All the broken shit is gone and the difficulty goes up.

I found the second mission bloody hard. You’ve barely fought anyone and got like zero skills, but you’re dumped against a Thief with Steal Heart.

After that, it was a lot more reasonable though. Enemies are much smarter now.

patch? how does that work exactly? is that for the rom version??

All I got to say is Blue magic > White and Black Magics
