FFX’s story was way better, but FFX-2’s gameplay was way better. FFX with the freedom and awesome battle system/sidequests of FFX-2 would’ve been the shit.
FFXII’s story was pretty bad, if you weren’t Ashe, Basch or Balthier. 
And Masumune + Genji Glove rapes everything in the game save Wyrmhero Blade + Genji Glove.

Yeah, some of the shit in that game is definitely :wtf:, but it’s cool enough IMO to play through it. And has a shitton of extras.

i’m so pissed at losing all my FFX and FFX-2 (and xenosaga + many other ps2 games) when my mem card was jacked. all the work I put into beasting up my characters and wrecking shit in blitzball…

It’s actually better than FFX in my opinion. Story isn’t, but the gameplay, battle system, sidequests and other shit you can do in FFX-2 DESTROY FFX.
I disagree…FFX had other things going for it…nice story, and all the other stuff wasn’t bad either. I def. would not say DESTROY…and playing blitzball>managing blitzball or whatever the fuck that was.
The battle system was okay, except “switching characters for certain monsters” sucked balls. The sidequests were few and tedious most of the time. The rest of the game was a straight line. No really, it was. Blitzball was better in FFX, but that’s about it.
FFX-2’s battle system is far better, the game actually allows you to explore and find stuff, it has some of the most hardcore optional bosses in all FF, and you can build your characters the way you want them to be, instead of only being able to truly customize at the end of FFX.
The story and the music were much better (save the epicly awesome and amazing piano opening of FFX-2) in FFX, but pretty much everything else I’d give to FFX-2. Look past the lame story and there is a great game.

I forgot, the music is better in FFX (along with the story) as well. Everything else, graphics, gameplay, sidequests, were all better in FFX-2.
I rather enjoyed the battle system…switching, especially the way it was done, was quite nice. seeing as it was many more characters than just 3, it had it’s place. That “straight line” was pretty fun IMO, and there was still fun stuff to do on the side.
there was plenty exploration and finding stuff in X. The last few optional bosses and the one for the non american release were no pushovers either. I don’t know about you, but I built my characters how I wanted in X…I loved the sphere system…especially with the choice of adding characteristics to the grids free spaces. weapon cust. was fun too.
FFX-2 opening wasn’t that “epic” but I did like it. I wouldn’t say a great game (and def. not greater than X) but I did enjoy X-2. It was at least half of what X was, which is pretty darn good to me
i did really like the battle system in ffx-2, mostly because i like games with a lot of customizeable otions…but ffx had my favorite story of all the ff games. i LOVED the religious backstory and how the truth unravelled. i know it’s nothing groundbreaking or anything, but i just loved the religious aspects of ffx. which is rather funny coming from an atheist…

story is pretty important in an RPG, lol, and X felt much fuller to me. like actually more real time spent playing the story for the game and not all the “fluff/filler” of X-2.
I’m putting my last faith in FF13, please don’t fuck with me kitasi god. They kinda redeemed themselves by adding in Job system in International. Let your producer power flow through their hearts.
FFXIII doesn’t really hold my interest ATM. Versus XIII looks kinda cool, though.
I like FFX better than FFX-2, but FFX-2 did have the better system and it had more side quests to do.
FFX had a better story, even though it’s a cliche story, I still get absorbed into these things because of the characters and pretty much the world the game is in itself. The grid system was actually kind of cool, but I still prefer old school ways where X reaches level Y and learns new move and such. And the battle system was pretty much a traditional one except you get to see who acts first and stuff so you can better prepare yourself. Quick Attack owned.
X-2 was imo, more of Square trying to cater to female gamers. Honestly, when I bought the game, turned it on, and saw the intro, I was like oh my god… I seriously bought this game? But the battle system and sidequests kept the game fun throughout. And the story was a bit on the meh side, but still good. Not as good as FFX though.
But yeah, FF7 still my fav. And for the record, no I didn’t like FF8.
And yeah, XIII doesn’t look interesting to me either. What is the difference between XIII and Versus XIII?

I feel the same way, though for me it was always super close with FF6 coming out on top. I love that game so much, but FF4 was also amazing and my first RPG ever. I definitely need to pick up the DS remake of IV…

If the junction system was where you upgraded your stats and weapons I think through items that enemies drop, thats what I mean.
Mostly in FF games I bang my head against the walls at the random fights. Considering that is 90% of the gameplay in ff games, I think ff8 was the best because it actually had me enjoying, anticpiating and looking forward to that.
No other gane gave me as much fun exploring the world looking for an experience I usually bang my head about because it was fun finding rare and different monsters to make yourself more powerful. Thus an essential part of the game went from a pain to a pleasure. And the card game was the shit too.
