The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

I enjoyed XII, but not nearly as much as the more traditional FF games. I was also SUPER FUCKING PISSED that they implemented the MMORPG style impossible drops. There are a few items in the game which are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to obtain, due to not only difficulty in spawning the mobs, but the low drop rates. It infuriated me to no end, as I like to do completionist runs and get 100% of all items and what not.

I play FFXI (the Online FF game), and deal with that all the time. That’s ok, i expect it there. having to grind 10 hours on a single mob for a drop on a console game? <No thanks>.

Also, I didn’t like the gambit system… If I wanted a RTS game, I’d buy a RTS game. The JRPGs have their roots in turn based combat, and I’ve always preferred that for my RPGs… Sorta like traitional D&D. I don’t like where they were going with FFXII… Just didn’t seem right, as a FF game.

I should try FF12 again. I got a 32" widescreen at home. I know it’ll look grainy but whatever. Right now I’m playing FF6 (U.S.) so maybe I’ll try 12 when I’m done.

*Spoiler for 12
I remember being stuck where you’re suppose to board the Bahamut on 12. The enemies are too strong so I dunno what weapons I should get to help out.

I can’t stand to play V or even worse IX. I like the rest of the series okay, but those two just suck to me.

FF7 is fave, best story ever

i really enjoyed 9 for its simplicity

Mystic Quest is cool.

I like FF6 (3 in USA) for the SNES.

Why do you SRKers keep using the bloody US numbering? I thought that by now every fucker and their mom knows of the correct numbering

IX was a one-of-a-kind gaming experience for me, and VI was great.

The rest of the series is relatively hit or miss, most of the time barely scratching the surface of ‘good’.

I loved IX. Having 4 party members was refreshing after VII and VIII. Some day I will play it again.

FFVIII is still my favorite. (prepares to parry hate)

Hahahah, I feel ya, I spent 2 and a half hours force spawning and killing rare bombshells(which didn’t show up half the time) to try and get the Yagyu Darkblade, and still ain’t get shit. Also the fact that you WILL miss out on the Zodiac Spear your first playthrough unless you have some kind of guide or are tipped off about the requirement was just stupid.

But the biggest pissoff for me was the fact that you face that damned Yiazmat, Spend HOURS hacking away at his ass, but they can’t even remove the damage limit on him atleast? Fighting Yiazmat is even easier than Omega Mark(though Omega’s easier in the US game since his health has been shot down 9 million pts. He’s still the hardest boss for me even with that) Even with Yiazmat berserking, or something going wrong, all I need is a minute to get back together, it just takes so fucking long to kill his ass. Next time you give a boss ungodly health, atleast let us be able to break the limit -_-

Do they have a US release date for IV on DS?

Because our lives aren’t absorbed by final fantasy, and we call it like we see it? :looney:

i think ff9 is underrated, but with two games previous that both heavily identify with either today or our youth i can see why it didnt have nearly the same impact

ff9 also did feel incomplete

QFT… I LOVED the storyline of that game… at least, I remember loving it. Also, Vivi was a little pimp in BLM clothing :stuck_out_tongue: I liked it a lot more than I liked 8, that’s for sure. Im sure it’s just preference.

I’m looking forward to a FF game that goes back to its roots… thats more focused on a decent story and play than flashy graphics and CGI scenes. Maybe Mistwalker will come through for us, since Squeenix is jerking the series.

…the older games had decent stories and gameplay?

ok i’ve been talking a lot about what sephiroth actually is (him being the nearest copy of jenova) and who jenova is based on

jenova is based on the hindu god vishnu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vishnu who is the preserver. sephiroth is closest to vishnu

angeal is closest to brahma http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahma who is the creator.

Genesis is the closest to shiva http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiva who is the destroyer.

this vid here will show the effects of all three personalities

BY THE WAY THIS IS A SPOILER SO IF YOU DONT WANT CRISES CORE SPOILT DONT WATCH!

Kefka>all

@Shima- Bahamut is in way related to any arabic myth or another. Also fun fact; some of the main cities/villages in FF7 are named after Norse Myth (Nifelheim, Migard, etc.)

Kefka sucks. Stupid statue pushing failed experiment that wanted to destroy hope and the world but failed to do both. Rearranging the world map does not count.

I like his lines though.

In other news, since I just finished up FFXII, I’m wondering if I should go back to playing more FFXII for the extra stuff that I didn’t do (I did get Masamune tho), or maybe go and continue Okami.

Decisions, decisions.

Hell yea they did - in my opinion the SNES games were the epitome of FF gameplay and story. 7 was good. Everything else since has been downhill.

Nah. Don’t bother with the extra stuff in FFXII. I got all the weapons and armor for FFXII and looking back, it just wasn’t worth it. I spent 6+ hours (no saving cause then you have to start all over) to get the Danjuro dagger (the hardest weapon to get in the game). It wasn’t even fun, and the payoff was definitely not worth it.

Probably best if you continue Okami. I personally haven’t played it, but I heard it’s a good game. I’m waiting it to come out on the Wii.
