The Fatal Fury Real Bout 2 Thread

Hey everyone i just wanted to show some of you a pretty cool infinite setup for Bob, the way i do it is i grab the character and :df::df::snkc: to launch them, then i tap :r::r::snkc: and karacancel by doing:qcb::snkb:, after that i just knock the character in corner, but you dont have to :r::r::snkc: :qcb::snkb: karacancel , it also can be done by pressing :r::r: then :qcb::snkb: and knock the character in to corner, oh by the way it can be done in the (middle somtimes) or (guaranteed half) the screen, this is just one of the ways Bob can use his karacancel (you dont have to do the karacancel to set up the infinite you can just do :r::r: :qcb::snkb: like i wrote before, i do the karacancel cuz i feel safer using it this move is fun to do and takes little practice to master :wgrin:)

here are video post i put on youtube and megavideo to show you what i mean:

:wow:

Holy crap that’s an awesome find! And GGs last night. =)

Also, Big, another thing about the Deadly Rave is that it has no startup invincibility - you can clearly see it get stuffed in a couple of the Japanese matches. It still works fine as a breakshot just because of its speed, but in other situations it will get beat.

EDIT: Hon-Fu data is complete! That makes 3 frame posts covering 12 characters - over half the cast now!

-Josh

Not even a little bit? Hmm, I do know it has some good priority, not to mention speed, which is reason enough for me to avoid it.

I’m thinking of trying for that mixup / mindgame tutorial video sometime soon. Though the chars I use are pretty mindgame heavy (Franco, Chonshu, Bob, and Mary), the things I plan to go into will be beneficial to those who want to work them into their game, as well as how to defend yourself / keep your cool, regardless of the character you use.

Okie dokie, here are links to the frame data posts:

Rick, Franco, Sokaku, Xiangfei

Terry, Mai, Chonshu, Cheng

Yamazaki, Geese, Kim, Hon-Fu

Glad to be of help,
Josh.

Excellent! I’ll add it to the compendium posthaste!

Edit, frame info added to the compendium (also located in my sig. ^^)

Back in here for a bit.

Sup Mike, I still hate Franco for all the rapes he has committed in the the past but I play him in the closet LOL!!

Heyas man! Where have you been? You just dropped out of sight one day a couple months back. I ran across you on a TF2 server one day, but by the time I noticed you had left the server. :arazz:

Things have been quiet around here lately…

Is the thread dead? :shake:

Kinda-sorta been working on a mindgame video, but the lack of activity on the thread has rather taken the wind out of my sails. :bluu:

I have been dabbling with Hon-Fu again (he was my main way back when I started) to show people Hon’s strengths as an offensive character, and why to fear the Sky of Fire. :nunchuck: Needless to say, there’s more than a few players who now know just how crazy that thing is. :hitit:

A bit off-topic, but the designed-from-the-ground-up KOF XII is going to be shown at the AOU Show 2008 (Feb. 15th-16th). I’m definitely looking forward to that.

Still working on getting a stick made for FRXI (which is proving to be nothing short of an enormous pain in the ass), and it’s still up in the air whether or not it’ll happen. I’m actually debating on whether to skip it altogether.

Anyway! I’ve been playing a bunch of people on RB2, but they haven’t been posting (instead hitting me up on IM). Keep the thread alive, people!

Hit me up to play sometimes, or some of these other people- I need to get back into it before FRXI, even though with you not in it, it wouldn’t be much of a tourney.

K0F XII did they show previews of it already! because i heard they’re redoing the spirites?,I going to download mame on my computer so i can play online with you guys.It was fun playing against you.Even though i wasn’t you’re match. This is why I like to play against people.I got more motivated by playing against you. Good games mr.big.Hope I can make it to finalround.

9 more days and well have screens ad gameplay vids of XII. fuck yeah. i always wished kim would get his 2 buddies in his team instead of choi and chang, meaning bob wilson and hon fu. yeah, they need to get into KOF ASAP, some redesigning and tweaking and they should be ready. though i don’t think snkp plans on anything close to this. been wanting this since the first time i saw them in kof97 in the bg (china/hong kong stage?). what about the old geezers team? they seemed pretty cool in the same bg as hon and bob (it was tung fu rue (ff1,s,rbs,rb2 fame), jubei yamade (ff2,s fame) and lee (aof1 and 2 fame).

LOL, funny you say that, Musolini, the Old Man Team was exactly what I wanted, too: Tung, Lee, and Jubei. It’s a long shot, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

And they haven’t shown the preview yet (should be at the AOU Show 2008 from the 15th-16th), but that’s what supposed to be shown.

I was a bit bored earlier today, so I did a little messing around with Alfred and came up with AhureQc8rIk"]**this combo[/B. I think I have the beginnings of an infinite with him, too. :amazed:

Anyways, I’ve got to run for now. See you all later!

yeah qith alfred you can pretty much C, feint, far C, C, feint, far C till the opponent has around 1 bar left and do the ppower and juggle with QCF+A to kill an oppnent. or break the final close C and jump C into spower. which is also pretty nice and looks pretty damn cool. though its pretty hard if nmot impossible against small characters.

Fucking awesome combo there.

God, after playing Geese for a while now.

He is top tier no doubt.

Damn I want to play this game after watching big Mikes vids and reading this thread =] Cool beans in here.

Oh, Alfred’s gots VDL6W6E-XeM&NR=1"]tons of 100% combos[/COLOR (2:18 of the video onward), but that’s why he’s a hidden boss. Such a shame that he’ll probably never be in another game, I love his design.

Thanks! :bgrin: In retrospect, I could switch Geese with Kim in the tierlisting. Speaking of, actually, I need to check with Mr.Wizard to see if I can edit the posts I made before we re-created the account to fix the problem I was having. :wonder:

To me, the biggest problem Geese has, and the thing just keeping him out of the top-tier is that he doesn’t have a defense he can count on.

His only breakshot (sans P-Power) is the Reppuken, which doesn’t knockdown and give him the breathing room he needs. And he has to make an educated guess on where the opponent is going to attack in order to use his counter, and if he’s wrong he opens himself up to a chunk of damage.
Thus, Geese has problems against chars with good mindgames because it throws in so much more risk into his counters. Mary (high / low, throws), Chonshu (high / low, crossup), and to a slightly lesser extent, Franco (full-on high / low madness) are “sigh…fuck.” fights for Geese. (Sorry God 2.0!).
Also those with an aggressive poking game (Chonrei and to a slightly lesser extent, Billy), can be a tough fight.

As God 2.0 said in a recent match we had, “if Geese had Hon’s Sky of Fire, he’d be unstoppable,” and he’d be right.

Heyas Simp! Love the new avatar! It’s about time, too! Hehe, it’s kind of weird to see one of my nicknames used in here, but you’re the only person in the thread to have met me in person.

I’ll try to get the game to ya. Who knows, maybe we’ll be able to play at Final Round! :wgrin:

another problem with geese is, his bnb combos do retarded little damage. why did he have to lose his only good move for finishing combos? the b-f+B or C attack was something that he really needed. if you ad a good anti air to his game, then yeah, hes pretty much unstoppable.

p.s. even hon can have trouble with his dp+A move. cause against some characters, if you miss it, if its blocked (and i might be wrong, but against some even if it hits), they can retaliate with the right combo. you just gotta figure out which normal to start a combo with to break him out of his dp after he lands. cause people just love doing the sky of fire noogi twice.

Geese does not to that little of damage though.

c.b, c.b, c.c, d+bc, b+b kara, d+c does a good chunk

Even though you have to be careful with wiffing his counters, his anti air count on reaction is too good.

In fact, antiair counter is about the only counter you should really be using.

I just really feel that Geese’s gameplay options far outweigh his shortcomings. Just think if he did have a better anti air. He would be god tier.

Geese is pushing top tier, maybe not top but certainly somewhere between high/top.

Pros: Best pursuit attack. Kara-able 360 that does a good chunk and possible to pursuit after. Kara-able P power thats is arguably the best in the game. Fast large fireball that does decent damage and breakshotable. Deadly Rave P Power thats fast and Breakshotable. Generally safe ending blocked chains with either feint (preferably d+bc). antiair counter that activates fairly fast stays out for a while and does good damage. Raging Storm S power that hits both plains, comes out fairly quick, and does large damage (added benefit of d+bc feint making the same noise and animation).

Cons: limited high low game. wiffed counters = bad news. Fireball has slow recovery, doesnt knock down (kinda sucks cause its his only useful breakshot), lack of a strong anti air move (Is df+a any good? I know you can chain like a c.c after it but as an anti air im not 100%).

Not too many cons but now that I think about it, they are probably enough to put him down into that top/high buffer zone.

I’ve seen Geese’s AB used a lot more for anti-air than his df+A, that move is a bit too slow I think, but even with AB you’ll still be trading a hell of a lot. Really, I say just stick with the counter. Of course, then they have the option of baiting it…

This is true. In fact, Geese’s BnB combos and attacks do almost the same amount of damage, which is around 28%. The exception is the :d::snka::snkc: + Reppuken which does no more than 12% or so.

The highest reliable damage on the ground without meter is from his :df:+:snkc: grab into pursuit, or from the :df::snka::snkc::d::snkc: chain, IF you can do the pursuit. Around 32% damage.

If you feel these are small numbers, keep in mind that one S-power usually takes around 40%, while P-powers take 50%.

This is true because the anti air counter stops any non-low special move and super as well as air, and because with the guaranteed pursuit after this one, the total damage you deal is around 28%, which makes it worth the risk. (Again, same damage as the BnB combos.)

The low version can be quick recovered from, and thus does not do enough damage to warrant the risk of using it a lot.

Keep in mind though, that you can follow up the high counter with a Deadly Rave.

The :df::snka: has to hit twice to do the full damage, which is somewhere between a regular :snkb: or :snkc:. The move is too slow to be used as reactionary anti-air anyway. You can kara- or regular-cancel this into :d::snkc: or :snkc::d::snkc:, both hitting low. The latter combo can be useful to use every now and then, but is really the most risky combo you can perform with Geese.

All in all, Geese’s most reliable anti-air is his AB attack, which is nothing to write home about.

EDIT: After testing the :df::snka: as anti air, I found that it is actually faster than I thought, and Geese ducks before he hits the opponent, ducking under some air moves in the process. I will experiment with this in proper battles the next time I fight online. No matter the result, the damage it deals is still minimal though.

Yeah his df+A is suprisingly quick and the ducking helps.

Possibly good for anti-airing people trying to jump d then attack?
