K RBFF2 casuals are going up on my youtube account in a few hours.
I’ve got a Xiangfei writeup in the works, so I’d like to give you a few pointers. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, though; she’s a relatively new choice for me.
-
S-Power. Use it. If they whiff something, even quick specials and even at full-screen, this will punish it more often than not. It’s also fantastic for tech roll punishing: nothing says “stay down” like losing 3/4 of a bar from anywhere. You can also juggle with it after her upper counter.
-
Get the timing down pat for her fireball juggles. Try to do the fireball a half-second earlier than you think you need to, it’s slower than it looks.
-
On a blocked B, B, string, you can follow up with C for an overhead and d+C for a low, forcing a mixup on them. Only go with the df+C if it hits, it’s unsafe.
-
You were already doing this, but just to reinforce it: good work with her jump/hop C. It has tremendous priority, and on characters with only decent anti-air (Franco, Sokaku, Yamazaki, Geese, Duck, and Tung), they can’t do much to stop it short of breakshotting.
-
Xiangfei’s fighting style was best described by Mr. Big as “Hit and Run”.
hey god2.0, can we make an appointment sometime. if the p2p is anywhere as good as you say it is, we shouldn’t have too much lag as the dutch isn’t too far away from norway.
Just wanted to point out that Sokaku and Yamazaki have more than decent anti-airs. Their df+A moves are some of the fastest anti-airs in the game, and I see them beat out a lot of other moves.
Also, the hop C is dangerous because you can crossover with it, but it has significant start-up lag, which means that your opponent has more time to use a quick anti air than with other hop attacks.
Musolini, if you want matches, I suggets you get yourself some kind of instant messaging service and add it to your profile. Personally, i use MSN and AIM, so if you get one of those, we should have no trouble making such an appointment.
And as for the P2P client, I get around the same speed playing against Ghostpilot with 200 ping that I would get with most people I play in Reps Emulinker with 50 ping using the server-based client.
Xiang’s S-Power is basically Blanka level 3, except unsafe. Because of that, you can’t base your game around it or anything, but you want to land it a couple times to make your opponent afraid. Doesn’t it juggle from that one string of hers that launches, too? I think you can fireball then S-Power or something…
Good lookin out. You should get at me on AIM and lemme know how I can help.
Honestly I don’t really use the nigga ram S power that much. I usually set it up for the air counter now. I use the rekka s power a lot more than the nigga ram. IMO it’s a really risky thing to do sometimes. I’ll do it rarely on a tech or a breakshot. But I normally now only go for it from an anti air counter.
In the next batch of vids that we’re going to record(between tonight and Wed.), you’ll see a lot more stuff, cause I am a lot more solid than those vids show. I’ll keep in mind the advice though and incorporate some of it. Appreciate it.
just to let people know i’m the guy that was playing against coocoos on ffrb2.It was one of my off days just i just played franco.I tried my hardest to play my best.
Ugh i need to try and get online and get my Duck/Krauser going.
Been soo long of an offseason for me and Kaillera. (This game should be on GGPO).
Ohh by the way (never looked into this) how is RB2 on the PS2 collection?
It’s perfect. Even better than on the Neo honestly, because Sokaku’s stage doesn’t cause slowdown. Seriously, when I play certain people online, we use a stage select cheat because that shit is annoying.
All of the PS2 collections seem to be solid ports, from what I can tell.
Yeah, I have it for my PS2 as well and it’s an excellent port. My only hang up with it is that the arranged soundtrack kinda sucks (which is a rarity)…fortunately you can use the original.
I’m a sucker for the color edits, too. It’s not as robust as KOFXI (where you can change the color of your powers and everything), but you can have some fun with it.
There’s also not the aforementioned slowdown on Sokaku’s stage and with Rick’s Howling Bull P-Power (and here I thought it was slowed down for dramatic effect…who knew?).
Curiously, Real Bout Dominated Mind (the one released for PS1 back in the day) isn’t part of the set. Seemed to me that it would’ve been a great time to throw it on there with the anime intros and music videos that came along with it.
Ooh and ADVIII, it’s good to see another Franco player (finally!) if you want some tips with him, let me know. :nunchuck:
Thinking about trying out this game but i usually have hard time adapting to a new game so which characters could be called “noob friendly”?
A little offtopic
IIRC Wild Ambitions also arent part of any set. That makes 3 Fatal Fury games without compilation- Dominated Mind, Wild Ambitions and MotW. Wouldn
t it make sense to put them in Garou Densetsu: Battle Archives Vol 3?
Which emu does you guys use to play this on p2p?
Classic .64?
Yepyep Humbug. There’s the rare person who uses .119, but generally speaking it’s .64.
Welcome to the thread, Volde! Hmm, Kim and Terry stand out as chars who are pretty easy to pick up. Kim seems to attract new players like a magnet. Joe, Andy, and Tung aren’t too hard to pick up, either.
In contrast, Mary and Cheng are probably the hardest characters to learn to effectively use, so you might want to hold off on them until you’re a bit more familiar with the engine and all.
What chars do you use in other games? That often helps in determining a good fit. :nunchuck:
Nice, Ill have to dust off Mame again.
I am dying to get my hands on an American release of Battle Archives II!
edit:WHAT GIVES?
San Diego!
O’ how I miss thee.
As for BA2, it should be hitting stateside soon. From my recollection it should’ve hit already.
