I would like to thank the EVO staff for making this event possible, and also for making sure that all tournaments ran smoothly…I am sorry for taking back the donated converters; we only did so because people in the BYOC area did not allow us to practice marvel for the tournament (after HOURS of waiting on both friday and saturday–just like last year), so we decided to try and get some last minute practice in at the hotel room-- a decision that nearly resulted in GoukiGirl being DQ’d:shake: I understand and respect that those people are entitled to play as well (many were playing money matches), but many of them do not seem to notice those around them and that sux…I, however was guilty of playing 1-too many matches 1 or 2 times, but ONLY because I assumed/knew that would be my last game for a LONG time.
I would also like to apologize to everyone that I accidently coughed on/near, and also to the people that I accidentally hit with my large purse. However, no one should be infected because my pnuemonia is/was not contagious (all of the smoke certainly did makes things a lot worse, as well). I also apologize for my lack of hearing and/or attention-span (I was almost-always either late for a tournament match, or rushing to eat quickly), because this truly does affect one’s hearing, vision, etc…
In no order…
JWong: Thank you for the wonderful time and conversations…it was nice to learn more about you and I have gained much more respect for you (I already had a lot). You are a very sweet gentlemen and GREAT job for winning the marvel tournament^_^
Texas - Big Chris, Suavion, Joey H., Tarzan, Rudy, BucketHead, Vegita-X and others: Thank you guys for coming over (Room 709) for constant marvel & GG sessions – we had some very EPIC marvel matches on sunday and I was glad to have you guys over. Sorry that the room was not super-clean, but at least it usually smelled all right (I hope so) and it was not really hot in there…You guys were also very funny and entertaining to watch^_^ Joey is a BEAST in marvel…wow:tup: It was so great to have such an entertaining top player such as Vegita-X over, and his matches with BucketHead and Joey H. were too good:lovin: 10PM-6:00AM marvel sessions FTW!
Illan: Thanks for coming over and playing late-night/early-morning marvel! Your money match with Buckethead was godlk, and I had no idea you were so funny while playing:rofl: Your Iron Man truly is the best there is…I hate Iron Man with a passion, yet you make him interesting as if he is Magneto.
SmoothViper: As always, you were very entertaining both gameplay-wise and in person:rofl: Your hype and trashtalk is too good, and I was laughing the entire time while you were using Cable during the finals…Players like you help keep Cable alive on the East Coast! And good job placing 3rd, you more than earned it^_^
Philth: It was fun playing/speaking to you, even though it was a bit “last minute”…You were so funny, especially when people lost to you. Heh, do not be too hard on yourself, because even though marvel is not really your game, there are still MARVEL PLAYERS who are worse than you are-- you have potential. I hope to see you again someday^_^
Fugee: You are very funny, and godlk at gambling…You had some nice hotel matches, and you also play very well using a DC pad. Thanks for everything, if if I had the money, as well as the skills, I certainly would go to SB3. Stay hype^_^
Genghis: It was nice to see you again, my friend…if only we had more time to speak^_^ It was kind of disappointing to know that you did not do as well as you should have, but keep playing-- you have great talent and you are also an OG<3
SooMighty: Thanks for coming to EVO on saturday and entertaining everyone once again…You probabaly noticed that Goukigirl and I are awfully shy…good stuff, though:lovin:
Arizona - Codiac and others: Thanks for playing marvel and arranging hotel matches…it was great having you guys over, take care<3
Queen Honey: It was nice to meet you, and I am very disappointed by the fact that the 3 of us never had a chance to play. However, I understand that we were all busy doing other things-- EVO is like that, it happens all the time. Keep playing, and I hope to see you again someday<3
That short, blonde lady whose name I forgot (SORRY!!!): You were extremely friendly and fun to speak with, even though I was kind of in a hurry and/or distracted at times. I hope you enjoyed yourself…
Airthrow: It was nice to meet you, finally. Sorry if I seemed a bit agressive; I truly was sick, and I do not believe I was glaring at you before you had introduced yourself^_^ At least I was much nicer to you than I was to Monbaby:rofl:
Heidern98(?): Thank you for all of your hard work, kindness and consideration. You are one of the greatest gentlemen that I have ever seen in the fighting game community…you made everyone feel very welcomed, created hype and helped make the Guilty Gear singles and teams two (in my opinion) of the greatest side events at EVO…You also handled that minor “drama” quite well. I would also like to thank you for helping hook Goukigirl and myself up with Jo(e?).
Jo(e?):Thank you sooooo much for being our teammate!:lovin: I have not seen many videos of Johnny, but in my honest opinion, you have the best Johnny I have ever seen, and you beasted on so many players! I would honestly be afraid to play you. Although you had to pretty much carry us through the tournament, at least we took out one team for you, and beat a few random guys in other teams (though, it would have been nice to see an OCV from you) …probably luck, though. Sorry for not getting a 2008 calendar for you; we would have had to rip it off our wall in order to do so:rofl:
To the rest of the Guilty Gear players that I played: Good games, most of you are very good-- so good that there was no way that I could keep up-- kind of discouraging, yet encouraging…perhaps someday, my scrubby Sol/HOS will be presentable… The Guilty Gear community feels so different from the Marvel community, in my opinion…Certainly, it has hype and such, but the most of the players seem more quiet, courteous and almost nicer…Not that I am insulting the Marvel community, because my heart will always belong to Marvel, but despite being an “outsider”, I still felt a bit of comfort in the Guilty Gear community…at times…
To the rest of the people that I met (Sabin, Gandido, etc) and played during pools, it was nice to see/play you guys, even though I was very sick and felt awful most of the time. I hope you all had fun…
Things learned:
- No matter what, if you plan on entering one or more tournaments, ALWAYS wake up reasonably early, because all of the extra stress and rushing is MUCH WORSE than an hour or two of lost sleep
- Try to continue to practice a year in advance, because even if you feel you may not go, you should still practice just in case-- in order to not make a fool of yourself
- Bring/buy a GOOD stick well before EVO; not one that weighs only a few ounces, slides on the floor easily and has awfully close-together buttons+lag:shake:
- Deodorant and body spray is your friend; keeping the AC on while your are not in the room (even if it does suck) is a great thing to do if you plan (or not) on having 10+ guys in there<3
- No matter what, always stick around to watch when your friend/relative is about to play a top player, because marvel is so random, the matches may turn out to be better than you could ever imagine.
BY THE WAY, did ANYONE record the SooMighty Vs. Goukigirl matches? It would mean so much to me if someone would kindly put them online…Please?
P.S. To Reset: I am awfully sorry about grabbing your cig/blunt by mistake during sign-ups…I swear to God that I assumed it was a PEN, because my vision was kind of blurry and it was also dark in the ballroom (which is why I did not take any pictures)…Please do not assume I am too strange-- it looked just like a pen from a distance, and I certainly do not smoke.
Peace!
