Who gave Vynce another Get Out of Jail free card?
idk if genius or if… [details=Spoiler]genius[/details]
@Saitsu I was only jailed once. I saved the jailed av and continued using it post-release for a while.
On-topic, I’m hoping this will prove to be the first must-have, next-gen, survival-horror game.
New trailer ! Hype lvl is off the chartz , my god.
Game looks like butt.
Supposed to be a next (current) gen game, right?
Before you guys get out the pitch forks at least watch the damn video:
new trailer looks good. I dont know if I wanna complain about anything yet.
“Sebastian’s disinterest in the events of The Evil Within completely robs it of its potential. His silence reduces the haunting atmosphere and scripted scares to empty parlor trickery.”
eh… What? What is their point anyways? That the protagonist seems bored? IGN never fails to amaze , seriously.
It’s like i would say something like Metal Gear Solid isn’t a good game because snake dosen’t seem to be taking his mission too seriously because
he sneaks around in cardboard boxes. It’s exactly the same thing so i have no idea what they are on about , really.
"In the city section, The Evil Within fails to feel threatening at every turn. Sebastian is so empowered that it robs The Evil Within of any tension in combat. He’s able to obliterate oblivious enemies with his sniper rifle, shotgun, revolver, and a crossbow that can instantly freeze or explode targets. Power, like Sebastian’s silence, negates any fear. He expresses himself with his armory.
With this i am assuming that they mean that he has alot of guns at his disposal. Okay !
Mikami has stated that he wants to make this game balanced , not too much action , not too much horror. A mix between the 2.
They have probably seen 1 small part of the game as they just mention “city section” so i’m not worried at all.
Didn’t RE4 have tons of guns for you to use? Yes , noone was complaining about that though.
Have some faith in the father of survival horror , that’s all i’m gonna say
I do not trust a site that took obvious bribes for a shitty game like DmC and did everything in its power to suck the dick of that game and offering no constructive criticism.
I think the title maybe a little harsh, didn’t read the entire article. Just watched the video though, they seemed pretty fair towards the end
this shit looks hype as a motherfucker. I might even buy the game without even having a ps4 to support this guy.
yeah, fuck that article, but I’m more disappointed that quite possibly that this is one the best games of 2014 and it has the smallest thread on SRK for a new game.
How can you sleep on a game that will keep from sleeping?!
@shatterstar what is your issue with the article/video specifically? I’m still very hype for the game, although I have slightly lowered expectations, in that I expect it to be more RE4 and less RE 1-3.
Graphically, it really does.
The game was under development long before we had heard anything about next gen consoles , think about that for a second.
From what i know it will be on 360 , ps3 , PC , xbone , and ps4. And since it is a game that will be releasing on all of these platforms i do believe
that they were at first targeting previous gen consoles and then made a decision to make the game for next gen aswell.
could be wrong and i could be right but that is my guess on another note i think the game looks great anyways.
Ah, that’s different. I thought this was going to be new-gen only. I’ll give up-ports a slight pass. Ghosts was my first PS4 game, so yeah.
Basically, the only point the writer had about the game.
[details=Spoiler]It was the pot calling the kettle black. Constantly repeating what he didn’t like because he constantly noticed one thing that wasn’t even major to begin with. How can giving a character an animation that constantly shows the main character how scared or involved they are in the game all of a sudden make it survival horror? Dead Space started that (I believe): the whole looking over your shoulder while in a neutral stance. Recently the same thing is done in Beyond: Two Souls where the character is dealing with these entities and she’s constantly nervous in one particular chapter.
In that case it makes some since because you’re actually playing as two characters at once so while you spirit character is trying to open a door then of course the other character is useless and vulnerable. What makes that whole “oh shit! what was that?!” look-behind-your-shoulder animation mute is she can’t split her vision from her own spirit’s vision while he’s active. What he see’s she can see too. So, how could she possible “be on the lookout” when you’re actively looking through the spirit’s vision? Plus, she does that animation regardless if she’s the point character or not.
That brings no depth to the actual gameplay and it’s an asinine way of thinking that I, the gamer, should be freaking out because my character is freaking out, or even expecting them to do so. Yet, the producer may say, “you shouldn’t be too afraid because you’re playing as the hero and your hero is being brave in such a horrible situation”.
This is where a lot gamers and games are failing at. Games are not to be exactly life-like. Instead it’s suppose to be entertainment to our lives. How can you expect someone that is a fictional character to respond in a reality-like fashion when dealing with things that aren’t real to begin with? Apparently you want a movie and not a game which I also hate what games have also become. These aren’t movies, and they shouldn’t be viewed or subject to the same standards as so.
“The trouble is that Sebastian’s experiences within them are rigid and they repeat.” Well, if you’ve seen something, like in this case, the same enemy you’re not going to react the same exact way every single time. Not once did the guy mention what makes a game a game. Where’s the gameplay at? Is it stiff? Is the camera annoying? Are the commands to complex? Anything? Nope. Just him expressing the same damn point that he wants Sebastian to interact with his surroundings 110% of the time which is like not even 5% of importance to gameplay and shouldn’t be viewed as to why a game is “failing at survival horror”.
character interaction doesn’t make me nervous. hearing unexplainable sounds coming from places you can’t visually locate make me nervous. Those things are aspects to survival horror but they are not the Meat and Potatoes of the genre which this guy totally “fails” to realize.

i was gonna comment the other day, but now that this is getting some juice, let me say a few things
with that said, that video and article was buns at best. so if the protaganist isnt acting like a scared bitch (which would get you killed if this were real and you were in that scenario) somehow makes the game, not survival horror, and bland? thats ridiculous. like, did they even play re1 and 2 at the very least. it was the atmospher, soundtrack, and out of nowhere zombies, crows, and dogs that made you jump out of your fucking seat. there was no character talking to himself about being scared, or looking over his shoulder that made me extra scared when those crows popped out in the halway in re1 and almost made me piss my pants, literally. there was none of that extra shit when nemesis scared the fuck out of me and made me scream out loud in re3 when he busted through the god damn window in the room when i didnt expect to see this fool again for a while.
i hate that game journalist will never give kamiya or mikami a fucking break. two of the greatest game directors/creators of all time have to still have a bunch of fuck boys who play WoW and CoD doubt them. game journalist are just as bad as cable news anchors. this is all just a farce to get hits and create drama, rather then take the opportunity to stand out from that bullshit, and praise people who have been in the industry for a long time, and consistently put out legendary products.
like already stated, these same fucks seem to have no problem with DmC, but now the father of survival horror, who was almost the only redeeming quality as creative director for the game Shadows of the Damned, who has god like product behind him, has to somehow answer to scrubs who think the protaganist should be huffing and puffing like a bitch throughout the game, even though the only saw a small demo, that has no place point in the timeline whatsoever.
mikami, nigga, mikami. the guy who picked up re4 after kamiya, wanted to make it creepier and more scary then it was (couldnt), but eventually pulled out what he could, and had the industry slobbing re4’s dick forever is to be doubted now. the guy who created the greatest TPS ever with limited time, that has the replay value of charlize therons 20 something pussy is to be doubted. a guy who has been director or executive producer on timeless classics is what, a washed up scrub now.
game journalist blow my mind man. im not even a gamer compared to some other people. my collection is only a foot and a half high, and its 90 percent fighting games, but yet i know something is good when its good, or i know something is just a taste of whats to come when its backed by dependable people.
some of these game journalist sites seriously just need to hire specifically fighting game players, hack n slash players, and “survival horror” players to even speak on the games of that genre. dont let any scrubs who couldnt figure out wonderful 101’s controls, or bother to even go into the options to make adjustments, speak on games ever.
but i mean, fuck constructive criticism, either love something for no reason, or shit on a demo because, i dont know, it didnt scare me to death in 15 minutes.
i havent day 1’d a non fighting game since anarchy reigns (which is basically a fighting game. lol), and im down for this shit. i need it in my life. shadows of the damned left me yearning for more, and that game didnt even fulfill its true destiny. i can only imagine a full survival horror game from mikami is going to make my girlfriend hate me for playing it too much, and scaring the shit out of her.
sorry for the rant, but please gtfo with these terrible opinions game journalist. you are a virus to the industry. so many young impressionable minds that actually go to these guys for opinions is just sad.
