The Evil Within - "True survival horror"

The visibility in certain factors was an issues for me. I got real frustrated on the second boss fight with the black haired girl because I couldn’t see where she was in proximity to traps, thus causing me to get insta killed.

Anyword on when the DLC will be released? I actually had a fun time streaming it, even though it was frustrating at times. Also found a little trick on surviving the first boss.

Jesus ExposedD exposed himself hard core in this thread, Christ.

well , to be fair , i wouldn’t be if the tastecancer wasn’t so severe on SRK.

:yum:

Nah dude, David brought up reasonable points and your response to them was “no your stupid!! You just want it to be like stuff no one mentioned! @mods” Not once did you make a reasonable counter point.

Bitch made ad fuck, the only one in this thread lookin the fool is you.

@crotchpuncha‌

i don’t have a problem with people expressing their opinions , i really don’t.
But if him or you knew anything about survival horror then this would have been easily avoided.
I am merely standing up to bullshit which i was seeing.

So with that said… I don’t have a rep i need to nourish , nor do i really care what others think of what i say ,
nor do i have to seem like a overly friendly guy who says nice things on SRK forums , right?
wow bitchmade and foolish? cool , fuck you ! Yes , sincerely… Fuck you !

What i do care about is that a game which is REALLY GOOD gets valid criticism. @shatterstar‌ knows what i am talking about.
When a person says that x game sucks and fails at being a x in genre x etc etc , it is clearly their opinion which they are entitled to ,
but if you are going to form a opinion , form it on solid grounds and not because you thought the game was going to be
something out of the PSX era (Which is exactly what Davidstar did if you read the posts properly).

The developer of the title calls it “true survival horror” , davidstar calls it “bad survival horror”.
I did say that before but i feel like that is all that needs to be said , so I will let that sentence speak for itself from now on.

Lol psx era the majority of silent hill’s game are out of ps1 era, re 1-3 sure, code veronica and zero however are also good which I failed to encompass. I also mentioned haunting ground and alien isolation.

There are more i could mentioned but i dont feel like it

Yeah im stuck in ps1 era

Edit :Also i mention those games because that is classic survival horror.

@ExposedD I dont know shit about this game but once again your making assumptions that I do just because I said Davidstar brought up good points that you failed to refute, just like you keep claiming he said it was s bad game when he had explicitly said our is a good one. Stop trying to read between the lines its making you look like a moron.

I also hate tp break it to you but “your wrong because the game director said so” is not a valid refute of Davidstars points. From Davidstar I’ve learned this game is mostly action with a minimal amount of survival, and cliched locations. From you I’ve learned “your wrong because your dumb because you want games you never mentioned in your posts i just saw that Cuz that is what i wanted to see, and the director said its survival Horror so it must be true.” Pretty shitty argument you got there.

Oh and fuck you to bro.

I already beat it on AKUMU difficulty. Shit was fucking hard. I think I spent 2 days just on ONE part of a chapter. I spent 5 hours on chapter 2. And the rest was really painfully difficult. Lol.

I didn’t get to play yet but how does a random detective get a rocket launcher in a mental hospital??

not trying to detail to topic but I really liked the last of us. Id say that was a “real” survivor horror game.

The main character is frequently in and out of hallucinations.

Rocket launcher in new game plus.

There is a thing about Chapter 9.

This…thing about chapter 9 that puts me on edge…

This…thing that can be kind of bullshit…

This…thing that makes me save over and over again…

This…thing…I hate it…but it a perverse way…

…I kind of love it.

I have this unopened on my shelf right now. So f**cked off with Lords of the Fallen I can’t decide whether to give it a go or not. Not sure my blood pressure can take another unfinished mess. I might just sack this whole ‘next-gen’ mess off as a bad idea and play Dark Souls again.

It’ll either cheer me up or make me smash my PS4 with a hammer, I suppose*.

*Only to buy another when Bloodborne comes out.

@crotchpuncha‌ I’d like to take credit on exposing exposed since page 1, just pointing out the marketing and PR back pedaling Mikami did since TEW was announced, explaining the history of survival horror and how and why we debate what is currently considered such yet he came at me with “LULZ UR STOOPID” ad hominem.

Then again Davidstar got exposed to go cry to mods so I have to give him points for that.

If you weren’t stupid you would have played silent hill 1 by now instead of going on SRK crying about a game having a seasonpass.

god too many gamers whine nowadays. whine when you play the game, but dont hop on the forum and bitch and moan. jeez

Enjoy the girls… I mean the game like these girls do

So i copped this over the weekend when it was half off on xbl, and im on chapter 6 now.

My thoughts so far 8 to 9 out of 10, with issues.

  1. Its too dark lighting wise. This was actually one of my complaints about shadows of the damned, but i let that slide because it was hell, but it is significantly brighter then this game. While i think darkness in a survival horror game is a must sometimes, this just feels overused and creates arbitrary difficulty (that really isnt super difficult. just sayin).

  2. Where is the story. I dont even fucking remember my main characters name anymore, and i barely have a clue to anything going on. I guess thats the point, and the rest you figure out by reading, putting the pieces together, etc… But i almost feel like im playing a game with absolutely no story whatsoever right now on the surface level, other then im helping a guy who turns on and off from a zombie, chasing some pale ass white kid who yells a lot.

  3. Personal gripe. I dont like freaky hospital plot lines really, and i thought it would be fine, but so far im over it.

  4. The survival horror aspect is definitely truly there. I have a decent amount of ammo on my first playthrough on normal, but not a lot, and ive been hella low before. Its around enough, but dont think you can just waste time on every zombie freak by shooting them, because you may find yourself sol, but then again, in hindsight i realize how many fights i couldve ignored and just saved ammo right now. Since a lot of green stuff is found, and the stuff leftover from enemies is usually during major scenes, or fat fucks, you can ignore a lot of small battles with zombies to conserve ammo and matches.

  5. I’m bout to just go back to re4. lol. I never finished that game years ago, and i just bought it again for xbl on sale, and even my girl who hates scary, bloody shit, is like, play the other one, it has more of a story, and it truly does so far.

  6. Its a truly freaky fucking game, and definitely something you could play in a dimly lit room with a group of horror movie lovers, and im sure they would love it.

  7. I dont feel like im changing environments at all. Maybe that will come later, but like re1 and re2 you felt like you were going through this amazing path from top to bottom, around, and then into a random lab, now on a train, etc… Right now im like, hospital something, basement maybe of something, but looks the same as the hospital something, oh outside for a bit, then inside, now outside, okay, now in hospital something again forever. lol. It all looks the fucking same so far. I feel like ive been stuck in a hospital for 4 hours now, and 5 chapters, going on 6, which im pretty sure is like half the game so far.

Its still objectively a great game so far. I’m just not sure if its for me. i dont think id replay this anytime soon after i finish, and from what ive read, it doesnt seem like there are tons of unlockables i give a shit about. Mostly its just about unlocking higher difficulties and testing yourself.

I’m sure many of you are fine with it, but i wont lie, being in the dark all the time in this game is seriously fucking annoying to me. lol. Personally, im just not a fan of this game so far. Objectively, i think a lot of it is done very well, and i could see how many people would love this.

I’d recommend to newbs, but id drop a little extra info for seasoned players to let them know, mikami did his thing, but this might not be your swag.
