The Dynasty/Samurai/Gundam/Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) Warriors thread

I do like this particular genre, especiallywhen they brought out the Gundam one. PERFECT Game engine for a game like Gundam IMO. Now they gotta tweak the gameplay and you have the makings of something great. The main reason I like this genre is because I can just straight up beat the hell out of enemies all day long…literally. It’s just a good, relaxing beat-em up type game that doesn’t really take a lot of time to learn and is great to play with a friend.

The only real downside I see is the areas I call the babysitting missions. You know the ones. You gotta babysit this asshole NPC who quickly becomes the bane of your gameplay experience. For some reason, said character’s defense drops to that of a 4-year old with full-blown AIDS and severe stomach cramps. That and no matter what, they ALWAYS take the longest, most danger filled route in the stage. Your choices are either try to run ahead and eliminate the threats before the NPC gets to them, or play guard and stick with the NPC the whole way. If you have a buddy, now’s the time to get them in there so that you’ll have some back-up. Otherwise, I wouldn’t use the good controller as it will most likely collide with the wall as you begin cursing the NPC. Overall, I still like the series, but I must agree. It’s turning into the same-old same-old.

Oh my god, don’t remind me. I absolutely hated those stages. One minute you’re kicking ass all over the place, the next minute, the leader or whoever you’re supposed to protect gets themselves killed. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I had to replay those stages.

DW6 is guilty of this as well.

thanks for the head’s up. looks like I’ll be content with DW5 and/or the next gundam. I am NOT into those damn babysitting stages when I’m drunk with the difficulty on high.

Actually I’ve had an idea that would be interesting that I think Koei should do, Civil Warriors, you know about the Civil War.

I haven’t really played any of the games since Samurai Warriors 2 empires, but I’m thinking of picking up Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2, or I might just wait for the next empires to be released, I usually like those better than the vanilla titles.

Yeah, I thinkg WO is the better of them all just because the game has like almost every char from all the companies games in it and the stage set ups… I love when I play WO and notice I am playing on the old Hu-loa gate stage but with orochi fire and stuff…Also I just picked up the Jap and chin movies of the 3 kingdoms!!! And lu Bu 1 off 1000!!! a total of 22 movies each at least 2:45:00 long!! :o|

I haven’t gotten into the Warrior games this generation though I loved them on the OG xbox. What are some of the best ones for the 360? I played the demo of the Gundam one and it was alright, couldn’t fully get into it though since I don’t care for the Gundam franchise at all.

I did play some Guilty Gear 2 and well, I thought it was terrible. I played and loved all of the for the original xbox with 3 being my favorite for some reason.

Since I finally got my PS3 hooked up…I finally got a chance to play some Warriors games for the PS3: DW6 and DW:Gundam.

DW6
For some reason…I’m not feeling the renbu system. Maybe it’s because I’m only at lvl2, but it seems that I keep missing targets spamming renbu then actually hitting them. Also, I can’t seem to get element attacks to happen with weapons. Like when I was playing Zhao Yun’s story, I had an ice weapon w/ flash…only 3 times throughout my whole playtime in Musou mode did I actually freeze someone…and they were peons. Perhaps I need to lvl him up more.

DW:Gundam
I can see why some people were bitching about the attack moves…but it was still fun. I only messed with Amruo’s official mode, and Char was a pain in the ass to beat in the final mission.

DW games need to go online so it can be real war.

Well there is always Dynasty Warriors Online…but I’m too poor for MMO’s.

Popped in DW6 and wanted to try and beat LuBu at the Hau Lao Gate. Zhao Yun at lvl 25 couldn’t even get LuBu off his horse.

Good to see LuBu as a scary opponent once again…

Samurai Warriors 2 is the best Warriors game available on 360 imo. All the Warriors games available on the 360 are pretty solid, though, except DW6.

Agreed on Guilty Gear 2. If they’d included a strip poker mechanic and dating sim in it somehow it would have literally been every game genre ever mashed in one.

Why are we talking about Guilty gear in here for!!?? is that some warriors game I am not knowing about or what?

I just know I love playing SW2 But nobody plays add me if you all want to play or just talk on live…Joeresiorex is tha gamer tag/

Is it just me…or is Wing Zero’s SP attack (Musou) too damn broken in DW: Gundam?
I did his original mission and pretty much owned up one field with his lvl3 SP.
I really like this game.

Pre-ordered DW6: Empires. $40 doesn’t seem like a bad deal…hope the delays are worth it.

Started Xiahou Dun’s Musou mode in DW6. I do not like his wepaon…seems too slow for me.
Xiahou Dun says “Another has fallen to my blade”. Yet it’s not a balde.
And I gotta face an enraged Lu Bu early in the game? argh…

I still think the Warriors Orochi series of games are the best in the series… I played DW6 a little and I didn’t like it as much as the Warriors series. I am still waiting for WO2 to hit PSP!

Guilty Gear 2 is hybrid hack-and-slash, like the Warriors games.

Still no news on Samurai Warriors 3 getting on systems other than the Wii. I really hope its not exclusive

I left Dynasty Warriors Online because 1) it was in Japanese, 2) too damn confusing because of the Japanese and 3) my laptop could blow up if I still play it. If it ever does an english version and it’s not dead, I’ll most def play it then.

I’ve currently been playing Warriors Orochi 2, its a pretty good game if you go past the doo doo known as the story.

Message from Kenichi Ogasawara, creator od DW: Strikeforce

I have already played the JP demo of this game…but wouldn’t mind giving the ENG version a go.
Look out for it tomorrow!

The Eng. DW: Strikeforce Demo is dissapointing…

No savespots
Only characters available are Zhao Yun, SSX, Xaihou Dun, and Dian Wei.
Only 1 mission…and IMO friggin hard.

Makes me contemplate ever pre-ordering the game now.

Battle of Chang Ban has to be the most irritating stage in DW:6…and I’m gonna say it’s for BOTH sides (Shu/Wei).

Shu:
No matter WHAT I do, at least 1/3 the peasants die by Wei. Why are these peasant so damn dumb, or why is my horse so damn slow?

Wei:
Wei gets the fuckin shit pile on this one. If it’s not Zhang Fei ENRAGED and holding the bridge down…it’s Liu Bei gliding to the docks. Oh, and if by accident a peasant chieftan happens to run into your weapon and dies, Liu Bei suddenly HULKS OUT and run shit all over Wei. Not forgetting there’s Zhao Yun trampling anyone in his path.

Fuck Chang Ban…

So basically it’s going to be a souped-up Ninety-Nine Nights. Interesting.

I beat Xaihou Dun’s Chang Ban stage last night…but I think I got lucky because I got a speed up to catchh up with Liu Bei and used skill weapon w/ Air Wave. I’m glad I’m done with that, but I will try and get all 3 targets done in Free Mode.

Battle of He Fei is friggin awseome…I think I got close to 1500 KO’s at one time.

I now have a better understanding of Skill, Standard, and Strength weapons and their effects in connection with Renbu Ranking…and since I’ve been relying on STR weapons for so long, I decidded to go into free mode and diversify my weapon collection.
