Downloadin’ dat DW7: Empires demo. It should hold me till the 26th. I must say I am truly very excited, because out of the DW series, 4:Empires was my all time favorite. Can’t wait!

Each DW has a “theme song” other than its respecitive remix of Lu Bu’s theme?<br><br>I’ll always remember DW4 Empires as the first (I think) DW that allowed you to chage the direction of your SSS string midway. IIRC, if you didn’t line up just right with a target, or if they somehow fell out of your combo, you’d be stuck swinging at nothing.<br>

When are they going to take this series to the next level? The formula has gotten stale for me over the years.<br>

Have you seen the short gameplay videos? This is probably the first game where everybody is decloned. Plus, what if scenarios, the feature to play the opposing faction’s side in Free Mode, plus supposedly stronger AI coming back, features that made DW3 great are going to be in this game. Sure this is what DW7 should’ve been in the first place, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Now just give me Yu Jin to complete Wei’s Five Generals and I’ll be set.

Yeah I watched all of them. Looks aright but I’m not wowed. See here’s the problem for me: most of the time people get hype for these installments, it’s because they put something back which they shouldn’t have messed with in the first place. Same thing happened with the horrible DW6 and then DW7 set things straight. It’s like all they do is fix problems they created instead of actually making it better than it was before to stretch out their franchise. Imo the combat mechanics needs to be reworked.  <br>

I can agree with that sentiment.I too wish they would try take advantage of modern hardware beyond rendering ever more peons on-screen. To me, WO was the pinnacle of “classic” Musou gameplay, & I would’ve been perfectly fine had they stopped at that<br><br>DW6 had a lot of shortcomings, but I liked that they at least experimented with the environment more (climbing ladders, swimming), etc. I can’t blame them for going back to what works, but I can only wonder what it would’ve been like had they been more ambitious.<br>

I honestly still think nothing tops DW3 and SW2. WO1 comes close but not by much.<div><br></div><div>VH/Chaos modes are still just peons who don’t do shit with 1 type of enemies dominating everything. (Right now Bows just as Crossbows enemy units were OP in DW3). Eneimes don’t run up to you with balls and start doing attack strings (unless they’re generals.) but just 1 group swipe in hopes your defense sucks or your character isn’t maxed up. It’s not really challenging at all.<br><br>And I miss having Generals randomly do musou rather than clearly seeing them starting up musou. Remember what came after that Musou attack if you got hit (and guaranteed blow back), free power up or health regain. It would piss me off to get hit by a musou, not able to get up in time to stop them from charging up for a free max health regain. But at least it was hard.</div><div><br></div><div>now…it’s just whatever. I’m fine with it but it would be nice to have peons run up to you and start slashin away.</div>
