The Dynasty/Samurai/Gundam/Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) Warriors thread
Did anyone here actually buy Shin Hokuto Musou?

Not yet.

Just spoiled myself of Wei’s “what if” branching story path and its ending, and I won’t spoil much for you guys but it’s pretty much the happy ending I dreamed of for Wei. Oh and the credits for the what if scenario used an old nostalgic DW credits theme, though I won’t say what. Needless to say that I was very happy when I heard it. ;)

Yeah, I picked up SHnK. It’s not as deep in terms of combat as the first, but the story is more fleshed out. Pretty much for fans only.

I like how not only there characters and weapons to unlock…but plenty of secondary battles and what if battles. I haven’t seen commander mode, so I don’t want to spoil myself too much.

I have Empires 7 to grind until an overseas announcement for 8 is made.
Yeah I’m on Hiatus from Koeiwarriors until a western date is announced. All Those kids do over there is cry about the dumbest shit
.
Anyway in the meantime Im still trying to Platinum SB: Samurai Heroes and 5pb release Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds for XBLA which looks like a dope beat’em up title with good support.

yes, i bought SHM. Combat is simpler but if ur a fan you will enjoy it. if its combat depth you want though stick to the first game ore OPM. OPM shocked me with its engine depth actually. anyway here is a shin hokuto musou tierlist i made. most agree with it on game faqs.

SS Tier: Raoh, Toki, Kenshiro, Hyou, Juda

S Tier: Kaioh, Ryuga, Juza, Rei, Shin, Thouzer, Ein, Shachi

A Tier: Mamiya, Shew, Jagi

B Tier: Falco, Rin, Bat

C Tier: Fudo

havent tiered outlaw since i havent messed with him but im thinking S tier from what i have heard. shachi and ein are my most undecided. shachi has good sigs and a solid special. free aura meter for a little life and ein gives his attack a boost. shachis sigs are better then eins while ein only has i think 4 sigs? i gotta mess with them a bit more but either way they wouldnt be lower then A tier imo.

Hyou’s SS tier? I don’t follow how that is, his attack strings aren’t very good - nowhere near as good as Kaioh’s, at least. In addition, Kaioh has unblockable setups into super chains out of the ass with his persistent AoE flame super, and his final super is probably the quickest + largest ranged AoE kill super in the game.

I’d also swap Shew and Falco, IMO. Shew’s severely lacking in crowd control, and his supers aren’t as good as Falco’s. Maybe I’m biased with Falco since I’ve got Ultimate Nexus + extra Aura when gaining Karma, so I can spam his charged C3 and C4 all day.

I’ll have to mess around with Outlaw and Heart to tier them as well.
So. I bought Empires 7.

Shit is amazing. gameplay feels great, glad they always give the freedom to make decisions and whatnot.

Few things I wasn’t okay with though was the lacking areas in the multi-player

I was a bit shocked when I couldn’t do a skirmish with local co-op. it actually made me question if my other controller was broken or something. then I realized they omitted that. I also wished they’d actually let you participate in the actual strategy with a friend. I say this because well in my experiences with Strikeforce ( which was fucking epic btw ) they let you run around in the hub world to your own devices before your party set out on a quest, I dunno I’d like to see a bit of an expansion on that.
Empires 7 is indeed amazing.

Edit mode is a more fleshed out than Empires 6…even though I wish they could’ve done more like more colors for outfits and accessories. WWE 13 spoiled me on that.
I’m not sure why the colors for hair, and the colors for eyebrows do not match.

I tried starting the game on hard thinking that it was gonna be like Empires 6…I got owned by the first 3 months.
I didn’t know how to make allies, do battle, and the battles I did I get owned by too many stratagems (Fuck you LOCKUP and IMMOVABLE).

The AI is so much better this time around. I’m actually glad that they have the UNPC’s EX and musou attacks…it made me actually learn to block.

The new Flail is amazing…juggling officers for fucking days.

Oddly enough I’m not feeling Xu Shu’s moveset.

I hope that we get the 1.03 patch so they can bring back test battles in Edit mode…I don’t want to start a new playthrough just to see how a moveset works.
In my first run through of Empires mode I hit the world in chaos story where shit is just everything everywhere.

I started my kingdom in nanzhong, and got hit by the nanzhong effect in which you don’t care to expand but you don’t want to lose the damn place either.

Those strategems are evil nowadays. Local co-op will fuck up a place real good. Call inferno call base fires cast gust and then flood when it’s done.

Then your pal casts the base strats so you get catapult and then mobile catapult then stack up Weapons bed and supply depot.

Geez it’s nasty.
So much genius stuff can be done with those Stratagems.
Apparently if you get the Wise fame leveled up enough/right stratagems…you could be able to win battles without even leaving the main camp. It’s an achievement actually.

I also finally found out how to use the Ring blade (Ding Feng)…effectively.
All non-Vanilla DW7 weapons are so bonkers.

For real…this game has taken my attention away from DW8, and that’s a good thing.

The pulsating waves from his body can be timed with button presses and he will release more waves and the last wave wll be double in range and stronger. great crowd control. He also has great sigs. Kaioh can be SS tier too. His sigs lockdown with demonic lava flow is indeed awesome and effective. I am dissappointed in both their specials for the record. Kaiohs doesnt work vs bosses and officers and hyous just does a bit of poison damage but i think its unblockable so thats nice.

Shew being a Nanto user has access to Nanto mode making him automatically better then Falco. Other then that yes Shew is trash. but…dat Super Saiyajin power son.

Kaiohs last super is the huge energy blast right? its good but i expected more AoE from his final super like Raoh. idk i guess kaioh dissappointed me since i expected an alternate raoh but raoh is just a bit better overall so kaioh left a bad taste in my mouth which wasnt fair to him really.

Kaioh’s actual last super is called Flurry of Extreme Blows (just unlocks super late, haha), and it’s trash. Costs more meter than the huge AoE, and does less damage. I think that they fucked up the placement of the supers.

I finally got around to leveling Outlaw and Heart some, and I don’t really like Outlaw too much. His R1 used to be the greatest thing to avoid beatdowns ever, but the versatility is gone now, since everyone can cancel into a dodge. His bomb super does amazing damage, but it takes quite a while to get it to go off. Heart’s not bad at all, since his R1 acts like Ryuga’s, but it leaves them grounded.

Some of the final supers are fucking retard stupid broken like the Nanto OG’s like Shin for example and Raoh with his huge ass Freeza Death ball and others are just ASS. i dont get it.

And they fucked up with supers bad. Descriptions and shit dont match. Shins hell slaughter fist is described as his Nanto mode activate but its really his thousand hand pierce. certain sigs are unblockable but the game doesnt mention it. Thouzers Nanto spirit blade is a good example. Amazing sig and you wouldnt realize it unless you experimented or played the first game.

fucking lazy as hell with the combat engine in this one i swear.

Indeed. Toki’s Hokuto Face-Breaking Fist of Compassion is unblockable, one-shots Defense Captains of any level, and is easy to set up for 2 hits on cornered bosses for 70% damage on Chaos. I don’t like to say it, but Koei’s combat designers phoned in the sequel.

Another surprisingly underrated unblockable super would be Jagi’s Wildfire, but it has some issues with spotty collision. If there is some sort of obstruction between an opponent and Jagi (base bonfire thing, car, etc.), then said opponent doesn’t get hit, even though the attack should be raining down from the sky. Of course, the downside to this super is that you’re playing Jagi, but his fully charged C1 does kill all grunts in a large blast, provided you’re juiced up with Sniper or Accuracy.

Weird, I was fucking around with Hyou, and one of his sigs (Slithery Scraping Lightning Palm) states that it’s unblockable, but I saw a defense captain just block it. What the fuck, Koei.
