[S]Pang De brought the coffin to Fan Castle so he can taunt Guan Yu…he basically said the coffin was for Liu Bei.[/S]
I was wrong…
Why Omega Force don’t show this part in their games is beyond me…but seeing that screenshot means that this Pang De/Guan Yu showdown might play out in this one.
I’m gonna try to give you an unbiased answer for this as best as I can, anyway obviously the good thing is that there’s more content in the form of story and characters, also the combat is faster. Now here is where it gets subjective depending on the player. While the gameplay is faster, the blows don’t have the same “impact” the first game did. Also the fact that there’s no jumping, grabs are nerfed and that there’s no universal cancels for has some people saying that the game lost its “depth.” I personally have yet to judge since I’ve only watched YouTube videos and played the demo so far so I can’t give an opinion yet.
One thing however that personally annoyed me was how Dream Mode was handled. In the first game, you had two armies being pitied against each other in control for bases which held actual strategic importance since enemy fodder can actual mob your allies, which is something you don’t want since almost every Dream Mode stage requires you to keep your allies safe, prompting you to capture bases due to how they can spawn enemy officers.
Now, Dream Mode has been degraded to just one person (you) capturing bases until the gates to the stage’s boss opens which is pretty bland and uncharacteristic in my opinion. For example, there is a scenario where Raoh faces off against Kaioh, a scenario that could’ve best be represented by having their armies go at it instead of just having one person wreak havoc on his/her opponent’s forces while the commander just sits back and chills while their men are getting massacred.
However that’s just my opinion, who knows, you might even like how the new Dream Mode stages work.
sounds yawn. Sucks that they downgraded the game like that. I need to go out and pick up Ken’s rage 1 since I didn’t finish anything outside of Ken’s story mode.

One Piece Musou 2 Demonstration…
Also…apparently Tecmo Koei is going to make a big announcement this week.
The best comparison I can make is the transition Nintendo made from SSBM to SSBB. So you take a game with some fairly deep and interesting mechanics and a good amount of content and then make a sequel and you add MORE content and flesh out a better story mode but you remove the deep mechanics in an effort to appeal to a more casual fanbase.
I do not understand the logic but from a business point of view i guess its working cuz asia is raving about this game calling it better in every way. This is false. The combat being faster is an illusion. Without jump cancels you are forced to watch your characters animations end. I dont know why you cant just dash evade cancel like in One Piece Musou. I feel like Koei just dick slapped the hardcore crowd with this change.
They also made it easier. You can hit the dodge button together with the attack buttons and you will only dodge if your enemy tried to attack you. Its broken and even though dodge costs meter, meter is WAY easier to build in this game then the first. Not to mention the higher your level the faster you build meter.smh.
So far I have only played Rei and Kenshiro and SOME cancels still exist but they are more char specific. Dodge cancel is universal yes, but its stationary, you must be ttacked and just not as fluid as a dash evade cancel would have been. Rei is way more fun then Kenshiro. Kenshiros moves have way less recovery then in the first game but Rei being a Nanto user he just flows and his new special I call it Wave Slash is basically like his old wave run but its an attack now not just movement and positioning. He can cancel into that from basically anything and has many loops and infinites with it.
Kenshiros cancels are Grab cancel when doing any combo press grab to cancel into grab. Also strong cancel. When ending a combo witha strong attack, hold until you hear the whistle sound then release for a strong attack that can then be cancelled into another attack.
Reis cancels are Wave Slash. He cant grab cancel but so what. Wave Slash cancel by itself is broken but in a fun way.
If you play this game know that its more shallow with some cool shit here and there. This game is more about a faithful representation of the manga then the combat. still i will keep playing a discover more. Still I think Hokuto chars will follow Kens mold and nanto chars will be like Rei. kinda excited to see what hokuto ryuken cancels there are.
