Oh man I hyped to play as Cao Cao and Yue Jin. I’m surprised that Xiahou Yuan got decloned as well but I’m loving his weapon so far.
It’s also nice to see some form of change among the characters who didn’t get decloned such as Cao Cao getting a new EX and Zhuge Liang’s lasers being faster.
The new update got me hype as hell, loved the cutscene in the PV that showed Zhao Yun talking to Xing & Bao in game while they are holding their weapons, and then they all turn to the battlefield and charge forward.
So many great new movesets to test out and experiment with, the environments look varied and lush.
Looks like Koei is pulling no punches since this will be their last Hurrah for DW during this Console Generation. Only bad thing is this game could potentially drop within the GTA5 window, which could make shit problematic for a niggy.
With next gen consoles around the corner I now believe that Samurai Warriors 4 will likely be a next-gen title…which I am okay with.
It also means they’ll most likely release it stateside…needs mah Kanetsugu fix.
I really like Zhang He’s design this time around, despite the fact that his outfit looks similar to Cao Pi’s DW7 one, but other than that, I love how “regal” it looks compared to his previous outfits and pllus, he’s not showing any skin.
Pang De and Xu Huang look kind of “meh” to me though, although I do like how Xu Huang has more metal on his outfit now.
And thank God the battlefields look like they actually put some effort into it unlike the first game. I really didn’t like how they went the way with DWG3 maps due to how bland it was. I also wish that they’d put more dialogue in battles as well, as most of the time in the first game, characters simply spout out generic lines.
Isn’t that how it is most of the time in Musou games in general. I have fond memories of my allied officers in DW7XL, both generic AND non generic, drop like flies when they face an enemy officer due to how it seems like the games makes the enemy army insanely strong initially and/or gives them higher morale than we do. In Ken’s Rage, I for the life of me can’t leave my bases alone since even a lone squad or two of fodder enemies can kill the bases’ guards, at least allied unique characters can hold their own for a while though.
