The Dormammu Thread

Chun’s lightning legs assist call BS on that. Also they’ve obviously allowed you to power-up your assists like golden armor mode, d.phoenix, and dormammu’s lib (though that one’s limited use). So I don’t think it’s assists in general they are hunting down.

Maybe I’m not following your question, but it looks like he just used the :srkc: version of Dark Hole, which at that camera zoom takes it off-screen.

I honestly don’t care too much about Stalker Flare, and I doubt they’ll change it since it has been the same since release.

I had this thought too - the question is whether toggling fly counts as “doing something” after Dark Hole.

You’re mistaken. Lightning legs are nothing compared to the monstrously good assists MvC2 had. If legs miss, Chun-li might as well be dead, because she’s sitting out there for a good two full seconds kicking the air and waiting for you to punish it. None of the other assists you listed compare at all to things like Blackheart’s Inferno, Doom’s old rocks (they have been nerfed FYI), CapCom’s Corridor, and Sentinel’s sentinel force. Dark Phoenix might be the sole exception, but Seth said Phoenix has bad assists, and we haven’t seen what they are or how good they are in Dark Phoenix form. I could understand her having amazing assists though because of having to spend 5 bars to get them. Even so, that you have to spend 5 whole bars to get those assists proves my point entirely.

For the 4th time Dormammu doesnt have a “get off me” assist because none of his assists have startup invincibility.

This isnt a brand new concept to MvC3 what are you guys talking about?

A get off me assist has quick startup, moderate invincibility and it stuffs other moves.

Psylocke AAA is a get off me.

Well CapCom AA didn’t actually have invuln right? It’s just big and prioritized. That’s definitely a get off me assist.

I honestly haven’t seen his liberation assist used at all in videos to demonstrate whether or not it has invulnerability. Some form of evidence would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the links. This info is spectacular.

It had more than Dormammus. None the less its not a “get off me”

Thats the whole reason I had Morrigan on my team, because Dormammu got stuffed every time by random shit when I tried to call him in while being pressured.

Imo thats his best super, and will be what makes him a threat.

Maybe. I’m not saying it’s bad, I think it’s a great move. It’s merely not what draws me to him.

As far as supers go, all of his are excellent.

Oh well, guess it makes sense, why would a keep away character have anything but keep away assist. But with that said, what is your opinion on his assists? Particularly liberator but some insight on all 3 would be appreciated if you have any.

All 3 of his assist serve the same basic purpose of keeping the pressure on thick ONCE YOU HAVE ESTABLISHED IT.

Not when youre getting beasted on and need a little breathing room. I personally used the dark hole the most because it had a fat hitbox and really kept them scared to openly jump around the screen. Depending on the matchup I could see purification over dark hole, maybe against other zoning characters that are comfortable on the other side of the screen.

I dunno

Cool, so they can keep pressure on thus assisting rushdown characters, but i am assuming the assists will also help zoners. So they aren’t as one dimensional as i originally thought, would have loved it if liberation had some invincibility but you can’t win em all i guess.

If Dormammu ends up anything like Doom, then he can use more than one Portal in the air during flight mode like Doom can with his Photon Array (which can also only be used once during a jump then you must return to the ground), and keep using them until flight mode runs out. That’s what I heard about Doom on the most recent Wakeup SRK. I’m assuming that means that toggling fly does count as an action after Portal, but using the Portal doesn’t cancel the flight mode. Air dash shenanigans after Portal during flight mode?

That is if there is a similarity between flight modes and these air-specials that can only be used once in the air.

I have two questions on Dormmy.

First: Can you use Stalker Flare in midair? If so, you would be able to charge up POC 3, teleport right on top of them, stalker flare, then airdash down and stigma. If they jump they eat a super (probably into a combo and chaotic flame), and if they don’t they lose the ability to jump.

Second: Does Stigma break on being hit? The video I saw where it was used had stigma go away around the time he was hit, but he had had it for a while, so it might have just broke. My original plan was to combine stigma with M.O.D.O.K’s Dorito shield assist for free keepaway for the duration.

Stigma doesn’t strike me as something you’ll see very often. It’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but the other options from liberation seem far more versatile.

The for example, seems like something you could land pretty easily… Full screen instant projectile? Nice damage too! Looks like it would eat up other projectiles, still hit the opponent, *and *their assist? One can only hope… lol

The 3D does seem better to have most of the time, because you can punish assists really hard on reaction, but I would rather have a 3C against some superfast rushdown character who needs to lose a few trijump tricks. Stigma seems like it would be pretty easy to set up, if stalker flare works like I think it does.

This is what I am hoping for. crosses fingers

I haven’t seen it used in midair, but no one has specifically said it can’t be done yet.

Haha, Dorito shield! I like it. This is another good question, but one that I don’t know the answer to. I’ve only seen Stigma used thrice: his demo video, yesterday’s video with Keits against Iron Man, and some random gameplay video with the TGS build.

It depends on how long it lasts and how it interacts with specials and teleports that make an opponent airborn, as well as flight modes. Yesterday’s video showed that Stigma either hits low or is still unblockable. Against a rushdown opponent like wolverine, Stigma + Ground Fire literally means an invincible Dormammu. Wolverine just has to chill until Stigma wears off.

3D is definitely the most versatile, but the others have their uses too. Against someone like Wolverine, 3C is clearly superior to 3D. Against an opponent who is constantly trying to super-jump against you or likes to be airborn, Hellfire is pretty nasty, and it’s also the only (AFAIK) full-charge liberation that hits OTG. So if you are fighting an opponent that you don’t really need 3C or 3D (Ryu?), you can just enjoy some extra damage at the end of your combos.

It doesn’t help that most Dormammu players seem to be ignoring the charge system entirely in favor of spamming Dark Hole off-screen for no reason…

almost totally sure that stigma doesn’t break on hit.
