well it’s either him or modok
With those two, I would definitely be wondering how you intend to handle beam spam.
What about Arthur?
Arthur is… hard to use. I was really excited for him at the gamespot tournament, he was the first character I picked but that mobility is rough. It doesn’t help that his projectiles have been nerfed since his reveal when he could mash out half a dozen daggers per jump. I’m sure he’ll still be good, but he’s another character with an odd learning curve.
The thing that makes me wary with the drones assist is that in a recent video, Dr Doom’s plasma beam shot through all three of the drones and hit Sentinel clean. However, with a team or Dormammu/Sent/Skrull, you can keep the pressure up with each character, as each assist would be multi hitting, assuming Dorm has his pillar assist.
But then one must wonder if Sentinel would be hindered without having a true anti air.
I think Doom’s beam in particular just has a ton of projectile priorty.
Indeed, beams are scary with that combination.
It seems as though for every “hit” a beam does, it has one “hit point”, and colliding projectiles beat each other down, with whatever has the most life getting through and hitting for the number of hit points it has left after the collision. If this is true, while Magneto has the fastest beam in the game, it’s also cake to beat.
Dorm’s assists get powered up when he has power of the creator stored.
Some thoughts I wrote on using Air Raid vs. Sentinel Force as an assist to cover Dormammu; feedback is welcome:
That’s just his liberation assist; it consumes all his charges, so it’s actually a very awkward assist to use.
Kartst. I think you put some of Sentinel Force Pros in the con section
Would MODOK’s barrier balance out the cons of the Air Raid? You could use it to physically stop projectiles and stop on the ground rush. But then you don’t get a meter booster.
I like his assist three with no powers on it. Is it gonna be something like a get the hell off me kinda attack? If so I’d gladly take that over pillar or portal.
The more I watch of Dormammu, the more interesting he seems to me. That excites me because I’ve never instantly taken to a keepaway character or playstyle before, should be fun. Can’t wait to try out Team Dormammaries! Trish/Dormammu/Viper should have some crazy lockdown. Although Chun might be able to pin someone down better than Viper, it remains to be seen.
Thanks, I fixed it.
The more I think about it and watch videos, the more I really don’t want to use MODOK’s barrier. After seeing Dormammu go down on reaction as an assist to Deadpool’s bullets DHCed into Dante’s, I think it’s a bad idea to have a predictable assist coming in every cooldown and depending on it. I might change my mind when the game comes out, but right now I’m leaning toward a meter, “get off me”, or projectile assist for my second choice.
Unknown whether it has invincibility frames at this time.
Man, how could you leave Morrigan off of team Dormammaries? She’s even a fellow lord of a demon-ish dimension. Put her in for Viper and both of your ladies are demons, too!
Damn, that does make sense now. ._.
I’ve had a chance to play the game though, and Viper gave me a very good first impression and she’s crazy fun to play as. But then again, I’m interested to see what Morrigan can really do.
FEAR NOT! Dormammu shall be taking his bitches into the lab, and a decision will be made.
Speaking of MODOK… I think balloon bomb would really help Dorm keep shit out, just another obstacle on screen on top of everything else he does.
Wait… did I understand right that if Dorm is using Liberate as his assist, and he charges up his hands and then tags out, he’ll only get one “charged” Liberate assist before reverting to the base version? That’s crap. They really boned Dormy in the assist department. Are any of his any good?
You understand correctly. All of his assists are good, they’re just situational. Purification is like a ghetto Captain Corridor, which isn’t bad since there is no suitable replacement for it in this game. Liberation might seem like a crap assist, but maybe you wouldn’t feel that way when you consider it gives you access to Stigma as an assist - wouldn’t Wolverine, X-23, etc. love to have a completely grounded opponent for 10 seconds? Dark Hole is meant for pressure and combo extension, like Amaterasu’s Cold Stars or Chun-li’s lightning kicks. You pop it out on wakeup, before being pushblocked, or in the middle of a combo to make it last a lot longer than it could on its own.
Plus Morrigan has two great assists for him - he needs meter so bad.
I can see that, but I don’t feel it really helps him in his problem areas, which is what I intend to focus on with my assists.
Seriously, separate from the fact that you have to charge it, Stigma is probably the best assist in the game.
i wish he could keep his charges, but i suspect the reason why Capcom limited him in this fashion is because some liberation combination are not only good, but perhaps too good even for a marvel game. if Dorm could keep his charges as an assist. i know i would use him mostly as an assist because they’re just that good.
