one of my faves
more to come, fucking to long a process uploading stuff i’m trying to put up stuff that i aint seen yet
I prefer knowledge myself over kemistry and terminator
meh I dont listen to us dnb as much. for example, dieselboy is OK at most. ak1200 is a bit more open & experimental although besides them being part of planet of the drums along with dara they are alright. as far as uk Dnb is concerned that is what I mainly listen to. Regarding concentric beats i just posted as reference for others whom are not as varied in the back story that is Dnb here in the us. if you further look up the individual who did the movie she has extensive knowledge of the scene who can sure as hell smoke our asses as far as its concerned (Dnb as a whole)
Not sure how you can accuse anyone of ‘smoking our asses’ knowledge wise really. Ive got plenty of credentials of my own, as Im sure a lot of people in this thread do. Instead of saying things like ‘you guys’ perhaps actually say which posters you are referring to.
Leon- Im severly lacking in Crystal stuff, think the only one I have is Superpod )or something like that, cant see it on discogs) Really need to get all warp drive and everything. You heard much of the hardcore breaks stuff thats coming out? Some real nice tunes harking back to how jungle/hardcore should be.
warpdrive
no i haven’t, i’m not a raver and i really stopped following what is going on after i rekindled love for the old skool, i still keep my ear to the ground but i aint heard nothing, you got any more info
its basically people producing music in an old skool style. Some of it sounds exactly like old skool, some uses a more modern breaks interpretation of it.The beauty i sthat the bpms are ranging from mid 130s to mid 160s with happy, dark, 4/4 and breaks all being made (obviously of various quality)
have a visit to www.backtotheoldskool.co.uk and check out the forum, people always posting mixes (new and old) over there.
hey do you or anyone give a list of some of the best “ragga-jungle” songs? I love this shit considering i listen to alot of reggae
Classic.
oh yes good.
this thread is awesome
Stuff like Congo Natty and the Greensleeves labels are good places to start. Some personal favourites would be:
Code Red- singalong congo natty goodness
Snowman Tune- an acquired taste cos of the alec jones sample, but great use of beats and other samples.
Police in Helicopter- more congo natty, you often hear this one double dropped over stuff here.
Hitman- simmi mimmi mimmi. nuff said. Love the originals and dream team remix
War for 94- great use of the dub war sax and ridiculously time stretched beats.
Under mi sensi- barrington levy business. Great tune, and cheekily stolen by MC Ruff.
Styler Style (this was released a couple of years back on the Kniteforce Again label check out www.kniteforce.co.uk great tune)
Sweet love (bit more comercial. mbeat did the jungle version which most people know, but also check out the vibes and wishdokta version)
Most M-beat stuff is worth a listen. Incredible was massive in the uk charts, but hasnt aged well imo. Surrender is his best ragga tune for me.
Elizabeth Troy has done some great vocal stuff too.
Cant believe I forgot:
original nuttah- absolutely rinsed, but still a great tune. On the original press of the remixes, there is a really atmospheric t-power version. T-power also did quite a dark breaks mix on the bambaataa remix that came out 2001ish. Gangsta by shy fx uses a similar sample but worth a listen for the amusing intro.
arsonist/some justice 95- I love some justice for the old skool breakdown, but arsonist for the ridiculous bass. Again, pretty rinsed at events over hear, but still good for a spin.
Thanks man.
gettin the tunes now.
When it comes to ragga jungle you cannot beat kemet IMO
great ragga jungle label, i’m not ragga jungle biggest fan i like some but the stuff on kemet is good
family of intelligence - champion of champions.
family of intelligence - Agony
http://www.discogs.com/release/304395
that link is probably the best jungle EP around
tunes like press the buzzer, the fruit, the box reopens, unity
basically go from discogs and look up kemet and 3rd party records.
other jungle artists Remarc tracks like thunderclap, drum and bass wise, Ricky, oh yeah how can i forget R.I.P, he released a 12 track ( i think it was a 12 tracks) CD a couple of years ago which is pretty easy to get hold of Remarc - sound murderer
genocide how could you forget leviticus - burial!
Kenny ken and drs - everyman
there’s probably a shitload more basik_teknik i just cannot remember them off of the top of my head, but yeah definently look into kemet and 3rd party congo natty
Greensleeves stuff is very hard to get hold of
stuff by murderbot and tester aint bad for new jungle epsecially for guys over there in the states, they are definently good jungle producers probably one of the few that are still making ragga jungle that i know of, well there is benny page but i cannot stand his stuff
wow this thread is the shit
okay, let’s do an experiment
here’s what i’m currently rocking, most of what i like stylistically i’d consider mostly techstep and hardstep, some liquid and jungle mixed in there for good measure
artists by name to give an idea:
dieselboy and the whole human label, kaos karl and jae kennedy, evol intent, ewun, dj hype and ganja kru, konflict, pendulum, future prophecies, kosheen, roni size, sub focus, makoto, shy fx, clipz, makai, noisia, dillinja, dkay and epsilon, phoenix orion / team elohim, bad company uk and rawhill cru, keaton, kj sawka, ed rush and optical, concord dawn, rip slyme ( they probably don’t count but w/e ), total science, photek, t power, ram trilogy, aphrodite, keltech, counterstrike ( big choons ), dj fresh, matrix, dom and roland, source direct, grooverider, goldie, ill skillz, krust, ltj bukem, logistics, budoka, tech itch, unknown error
so um using this as a frame of reference can anybody name some essential albums or artists that are recommended for listeners of this type of stuff
thanks in advance
yeah man i did miss alot out, was a rush list really cos posted it quite late at night i think. Yeah tunes like the box are amazing.
just picked up the following a few weeks back
)EIB( inside the machine, Dj Marky & Friends the master plan & pendulum hold your colour
thanks you guys very much
