you focus too much on your opponent. keep an eye only on YOUR own progress. Try to make smart decisions. play safe with a touch of random, have a solid defence system and strategy. Keep a cool head (Adrenaline pumps in when playing ranked and can disorient you) learn to breathe and keep a calm head.
Expect the best from your opponent but be prepared for the worst. learn to patch up your weaknesses in the training room and above all dont take losses personally.
I guess its time I move on. Been great playing Gen but this is where I have to say goodbye.
Something bothering you?
nah, nothing much. There is nothing new I have to offer to the Gen community and since here is mostly a ghost town I just had to get on with the old man. Besides I dont like where USF4 is going and I realised that no matter how much lab time I put in Capcom can turn everything upside down and make playing your character a living hell and throwing all your years of grinding it out in the lab out of the window.
I just got beat by a 800PP, rank D Ken player who used ultra 2. All I can say is this game is NUTS.
No the game is not nuts. why did you use Gen instead of Cammy, Fei, Seth or Akuma? or just picked Zangief mashing lariat. you had to use the most complicated character in the game
Heh well that’s one way to put it. In fact I’ve faced nothing but Ryu, E.Ryu, Akuma, and Oni over the past couple of days. Then this nutty Ken came along and… damn my jaw dropped so hard it broke a hole in the floor. 囧rz
Lol, was kidding bro, don’t let it get to you. just do your best in every match you play and leave the rest. When the temper rises use your troll character (for me Blanka and Honda and Fuerte) and get in the laughs.
Naughty you, hiding not one but three troll characters in your pockets lol. But I ain’t lying when I said it was one shoto match after another. Myself I’ve only practiced a bit with Juri, Chun Li, Sakura, and Dan in some endless lobbies, none of these actually troll well maybe except for Dan? On the other hand I’m afraid to use any characters that I’m not good with in ranked matches, 'cause all that PP, and since someone has been uploading my matches on youtube I better be putting up my best each time. Until I’m a lot better with one of my alts I’ll probably just stick to Gen.
You can’t quit now, not after all the hard work and dedication to the community. You’re one of the reasons i am learning Gen with a pad.
As long as PP aint earning me money I damn sure play who I want lol! (last I checked my friend took me from 2.5k PP where I stoped to 1.5k PP and since then I no longer care)
Whats your gamertag again? would like to watch your youtube matches
I feel honored, but really I’m tired of the old man finally. There are only two things keeping me are two projects that I have yet to complete
The Mark Of An Assassin: which was meant to be a EBook match up guide vs all characters
The Chronicles of Oga: which is video showcase of all oga setups on all characters
But hearing of the oga hitbox nerf and the Gen changes, I don’t have the motivation to even try. keeping fingers crossed but for now I am just enjoying myself with my troll characters.
PS. Sakura jHP is too fun to use loL!
My gamertag is Mouhappai, and I’m not going to lie but I’m a pretty boring Gen to watch; very basic and hardly any fancy combos. If you’re feeling sleepless as of late, watching videos of me playing may be a good cure for that.
And since this is being brought up… I’m still undecided as to whether Gen was overall buffed or nerfed, but I might be leaning towards the former. I’d like to think of the Oga as a fix rather than a nerf. Relying on glitches as part of a gameplan is a sure sign of a flawed character imo. Thankfully they also fixed the stance change delay after landing from a jump, in fact they are buffing it so that the stance actually changes in mid air, this is definitely getting interesting.
I welcome that Mantis U2 buff, I wonder how good it is as an anti air now, since apparently it can now suck in the opponent (with a bigger hitbox to boot, if I’m not mistaken) for the full animation when they are airborne. I’m eager to see new combos and set ups that utilize Mantis U2.
I find myself liking that bigger crane jumping HK hitbox, and even on block for LP snake roll for some reason, and I don’t even know what good that’ll do.
Everything else is rather meh for me. I’m curious about the smaller hitbox on crane super though, it’s definitely a nerf but how bad is it now I wonder.
Mantis U2 as long as it does grey damage is still useless even with the 700 stun, the only way to land it in a combo is via TC2 ex hands which means the U2 will only hit for 60% stun which is 420 stun, which is the same as before you have to work in the next hit for your damage which is stupid.
Crane jump HK reports said the HURTBOX was increased, but if its hitbox then it remains to be tested
Roll though not good for combo if you are looking for max damage will be a great corner carry tool on block
I was indeed hoping for something more solid if they were to buff Mantis U2. The 600 stun was not what I expected neither do I think it’s going to change much, but a buff it is and I welcome that. It’s something this useless ultra desperately needs.
Now here’s what I think; I agree that Mantis U2 is probably one of the worst ultras in the game, basically when it fails it really sucks, big time. But consider its presence as a tool in itself, much like how Chun Li’s ultra 1 detracts people from throwing out fireballs freely. As you maintain pressure on an opponent who probably raked up a bit of stun, baiting out a punishable move could possibly lead to Mantis U2 being quite the strongest ultra in the game. Use that raw ultra, and if your opponent gets stunned, it means a free action on top of that grey damage. The resulting damage would have been much higher than simply using it in a combo with TC2 - ex.hands even if then it did raw damage (as in non-grey damage). I dare say it’s quite up there with a raw Mantis super - Mantis ultra 1, except without needing to spend all that meter.
Come to think of it, wasn’t Boxer’s U2 supposed to be similar? Except it’s a grab right?
I can’t wait for those projects, specially the EBook.
I hate fighting against Sakura. Her c.hp hitbox is very good too.

finding situations to land a raw Ultra isnt always the best idea of ultra viability, for example mantis ultra 1 is very difficult to land raw unless the opponent messed up big time. unless they make the ultra a 5 or 6 frame ultra its still pointless since I have to adjust to let it stun them.
