Just wanted to reply to PKSkyler’s posts about V Joe.
On the subject of Joe’s damage output, to get respectable damage from Joe you’re going to need to do a lot more than magic series into launcher. You’re going to have to use M. Upper combos as your bnb’s.
With your combo:
“j.S, s.L, s.M, s.H, c.H, S”
You’re only getting 185k before you leave the ground. With the Upper combos, I believe you should get around at least 350k before you sj. I really recommend practicing combos like this, because Joe needs all the damage he can get.
Also, because of the damage scaling on “j.S”, I recommend just going straight into “s.H” after you land the “j.S” to get more damage.
I’ve also picked up Deadpool and am trying to figure out how to make the most of the DHC trick. From what time I’ve spent in training mode, I’ve gotten 1,000,000+ dmg by starting my combo using the upper bnb and using only 3 bars. I still haven’t tried to end it a Slow reset yet, but I’ll be sure to try that when I have the time.
As for the issue of which assist should you use, I can see why you’re having a dilemma there. With all of Joe’s effective overheads, I can see the power of having a low assist. I personally go with Katana-rama, 'cause I find OTG assist’s really helpful in building up more damage for Joe’s combos. If only Deadpool had an assist that hit low AND otg haha
BTW, I think your team of VJoe/Dead/Tron is a pretty solid group. c:
Just added Jill to the list of people that can DHC into Doom’s Sphere Flame. After the final hit, when the opponent goes airborn flying away from you. DHC before they hit the ground with sphere flame, it will whiff and you will be able to OTG after.
I was thinking of a new DHC glitch with Deadpool and Zero, it should one hit KO everyone including Thor. It’s necessary to do a TAC with the shadow clone so you could get a wall bounce or ground bounce to continue the combo, and if you’re going for over kill you can use Deadpool’s katanaramas otg to get some extra damage in.
To quickly end the Eddie comparison. Eddie was no more difficult to play in guilty gear than many other characters.I would say he was middle difficulty at worst. Venom seems like a more apt comparison. Pre-AC he was very bad without great execution, and when you had it, he was still only pretty good.
I am thinking of borrowing this game from a friend and testing some Iron man feasible DHC stuff with all the new info you guys are putting out. If it’s there, I will find it.
thanks much for this post! I watched the video and would have never ever thought a combo like that possible (due to hit stun scaling ussually ending my combos hella early.) Thanks again man. Im gonna practice up.
Ive stuck with katana rama because quick work was getting beat out by opponents moves too much to be useful I think wesker is the best teammate for Joe assist wise(maybe Tron. Gustaff is so good!), but man I love Deadpool too much not to play him
More of the problem with the game is due to the absurdity of level 3 XF than anything else. It really doesn’t matter how hard it is to execute with Viper because in the long run her tools are really good and she’ll definitely be able to survive no matter how easy Wolverine and Wesker are to use. Sure some of the combos in the game are rather easy to do but the actual strategies that revolve around dealing with character and matchups in the game requires a lot of work to get around. You can’t just be like “Wesker’s teleports are neg 4 on block hope your character has something with 4 frame or faster start up to punish or ur fucked”. You have to have more abstract strategies and movement to get around but that allows for any character to deal with him especially in a game where one combo can end him and he doesn’t quite have the ability to kill in one combo without XF or a level 3. When people aren’t relying on level 3 XF to make comebacks all teh time the game is a lot stronger. There’s a reason everyone fears Dark Phoenix and it’s mainly because of XF3 not the actual character.
There’s no reason to compared GGXX to this game because GGXX is a game that would never see mainstream success because of the entry level to play that game competitively is pretty crazy and not something that could ever be practiced online. With online being the premier way to practice outside of the few and far between offline sessions that happen you need to have a game where at least a set of characters can press buttons and get shit done. Otherwise the masses wont play or stay interested. You need the herp derp to keep average players interested and paying more for extra stuff for the game.
its completely OT but since most of this page is OT i’ll throw my random opinion in:
the perfect game in my mind is one that has BOTH effective low execution stuff as well as even better, more effective, high execution stuff. i dont like GG because its almost all high execution/high entry stuff… which makes the game boring to play for the first few months for beginners (it takes a few months to get “decent” at that game).
imho if SF4 had better rewards for higher execution combos, it would be (near) perfect… as it is, scaling fucks that game over so herp combos are the 98% norm.
mvc3 is like sf4 in that easy combos are a little to powerful.
at least in mvc3 the higher execution combos “generally” give greater rewards. but alot of the time the bigger dividends just arent separated enough from the lower dividends. high ass damage +meter gain +dhcx3,+dhc glitch are the main culprits.
nerf dhc scaling and take away glitch and marvel 3 becomes a much better game as far as combo game is concerned… ie you will have to WORK for your TOD’s.
the only other complaint i have about mvc3 is wonkier than sf4 hitboxes,XF3 and lack of true midrange semi lockdowns/ overall game play. ie once midrange+frame advantage is established in mvc3, someone usually gets combo’d within 2 secs, making the game mostly fullscreen and upclose fighting.
I don’t understand using Gamma Quake super the rocks hit but you have no time to like relaunch or anything. Also whats the standard follow up for Ammy when going slow super dhc trick? Ive been switching to glaive and doing 4x charged H’s in the air
Yeah, you can’t actually go into a combo after Gamma Quake, it just resets the damage of the rocks themselves. It’s only a technical application of the DHC glitch, not a practical one. However, as VGJunky mentioned, if you can manage to DHC into Hulk such that he whiffs Gamma Tsunami while they are still in the aerial spin state, you can catch them again with Hulk for a full combo. Not all of the DHC Trick starters can let Hulk do this though.
I have a quick question regarding the dhc glitch maybe some more experienced players can let me know whats going on. I have been messing around with a secondary team of tron zero & dante using trons beacon bomb to start the dhc glitch. The only problem is sometimes I notice in my combos after I catch them with beacon bomb off of a assist it wont let me dhc fast enough to finish the combo (sometimes it wont let me dhc at all) any ideas why this is happening? and also is there a certain HC I should be using to dhc with with tron? thanks in advance
If you DHC to Gamma Quake off a DHC glitch done really high up, Hulk has time to relaunch before the person is brought all the way to the ground by the Gamma Quake. Best example of this is off Thor’s Mighty Punish throw.
Thor throws them way up in the air, and you can DHC it at any time into the glitch. Sadly, it’s before the bulk of the throw damage is done.
It’s kind of hard to setup or build a team around it, but Tron into Hulk DHC glitch is pretty slick, as big man lifts them up as the quake rocks come down and it’s super easy to relaunch.
Not sure if anyone posted it but while he cant activate the glitch Spiderman can definitely use it. I guess there’s something about Maximum Spider that allows it to reset damage when used after same cinematic moves for full damage.
I really feel of the things that need to be patched out in this game this is one of them. It breaks a system, the hit stun / damage deterioration system, that is in place to prevent combos from doing too much damage. To me this is worse than X-factor as at least every character can use x-factor and this only applies to certain characters making them extremely powerful. The fact that it’s called a glitch should be obvious enough. This needs to be patched out.
