I like the DHC glitch. It doesn’t make the top tier characters anymore top tier or anything. Everyone was putting Magneto/Wesker/Ammy/Dante/Storm/etc into top, or at least high in Storm’s case, anyway, its not like they could go any higher. In my opinion it gives characters like X-23 or Thor a little extra juice. Sure you can say “but why use X-23 over Magnus” but in all honesty, wouldn’t you be saying that anyway?
Exactly. Dante is going to be better than X23 most likely with or without DHC glitch. It doesn’t change much. I think X23 has a lot of sleeper applications and could possibly end up being high tier in the future but there’s maybe like one thing Dante doesn’t do…like in general (maybe he’s not a good cook or something I dunno). He just does everything. With or without DHC glitch he’s busted good. X Factor is more busted than the DHC glitch cuz people seem to be doing a better job pissing people off with XF3 D.Phoenix than the DHC glitch I’ll say that. I’ll take fighting off a DHC glitch whore team than XF3 Wesker/Sent/D.Phoenix any day.
The biggest issue with the game is clearly the ABC 123 Michael Jackson factor of the combos when combined with XF3 that just allows any idiot to run a whole match back.
Aside from the whole balance discussion, does anyone else think the DHC glitch looks lame in most cases? Magneto finishing his big combo only to interrupt his own super so that Wesker can come out and pose for a few seconds? Hold on there, Storm, I know you wanna do that tornado thing, but Taskmaster wants to show off his shield for some reason…
Balance is important, but… I can’t be the only one who thinks fighting games should look cool.
I see your point but disagree. IMO everything strong in MvC3 is pretty obvious and we also have the internet to drastically speed up the game’s evolution. As far as I can remember SF4 tiers barely changed throughout the game’s life and were obvious pretty much from the get go. SSF4 tiers have been a little bit more organic, but it is a much more subtle game than Marvel and was the result of a lot more trial and error than MvC3.
That’s the other reason I don’t like it… this is Marvel. It should be all about DHC one super into another one… like man, Maximum Spider into Gamma Crush into Skrull flame or something. That shit is cool. Super DHC into a whiff into another normal combo? mehhhh
Um marvel is about hitting your enemy a whole bunch until they die, which is what the dhc glitch lets you do.
I’d be surprised if most of the few top players who actually use Felicia even know that her level 3 goes full-screen if and only if you hold H during activation. Seems that nobody on SRK knew that until earlier this month. Stuff like that is what comes to my mind first whenever somebody says something like this. Forget unknown glitches and yet-to-be-tested assist setups; I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a move or two in the game that we don’t even properly understand the applications of yet. Every once in a while you’ll see a thread on the index about some “new” tech that has actually been detailed in the strategy guide since day 1 but just hasn’t made its way into regular use yet for one reason or another. I agree that the internet and plethora of existing resources should make the game evolve at a faster pace, but it takes a curious amount of time for some known and effective techniques to find their way into top level play for one reason or another.
I’d like to see it patched, and I expect that it’ll be patched sooner or later, considering what they did to Sent’s health and various other glitches.
There’s hella many things that still need to be discovered in this game. It’s been 2 months and the level of play even from the top players is nowhere near where it should be. There’s a lot of basic things that people aren’t doing and generally due to the open ended nature of the game system there will be A LOT of stuff people will be figuring out in the next year.
getting hit by a massive super, going spinning up into the air, only to be bludgeoned to death by a beefy combo from someone else on that team when you tumble back to the ground looks pretty cool.
Yeah if we’re just talking about aesthetics I like the way they look cuz it’s not just a typical DHC movie combo or whatever. You get to do your own fucking shit afterwards and then tack a super on the end if you want. LOL.
I like the glitch. It’s different and cool. It makes my Thor much better and him + Wesker do a great job of killing people with the Glitch and still holding meter for Phoenix.
I’ll be honest… I wanted to use Thor from day one, but couldn’t get around to using him because I didn’t think he had much to offer. Hello DHC Trick! Hello Thor to my Phoenic team.
BTW, I rather call it DHC “Trick” rather than “glitch”. “Glitch” is so demeaning.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
And I kinda think we’re really arguing over nothing. I mean… the higher you level up your character/skills, the more one shot kill combos you see. DHC Trick is just another facet of that.
Really… X Factor Level 3 is way worse.
EDIT* And count me in as one of the people who thinks it looks cool too.
of course a top tier can go higher. dhc glitch makes wesker that much more god-like
I’m not going to type a lot of logic here as most of the general consensus of both sides has already been panned out. I do though believe it needs to be patched out of the game. I agree that “Dante > X-23” will remain true with or without it and that neither the DHC Glitch remaining or it staying really encourages character variety all too much. With that being said I honestly don’t care about the “character variety” factor of the game. This game already demonstrates vast character variety compared to other fighting game titles especially in casual play. Honestly, in extremely competitive play no matter how balanced the characters are you’re going to see similar teams and strategies employed. That is the nature of ANYTHING competitive.
Back to the point. It’s a glitch and it needs to be removed. Modern technology allows for the revision of post-release mistakes. It should be EXPECTED that it be removed more so than everyone expects “spectator mode” or “a better netcode” simply because it was an unintended feature of the game you purchased. If something is broken, you fix it.
Either way though, I won’t lose any sleep.
I don’t really mind DHC glitch. It’s not like the damage isn’t insane already on non-DHC glitch combos. There’s underused characters that can use the glitch too. Like, why would you choose Felicia and Hsien-ko to take advantage of the glitch when you can use Dante and Zero? Characters like Felicia and Hsien-ko and Thor will be underused regardless.
The glitch combos look fucking cool too. ~_~
Anything figured out with ammy, domo, tron thats worth using?
From my experience, when you beg and plead for a balanced game, you end up pleading for a more fun game later.
Black Ops, SSF4…I’d even argue MvC3 (to an extent)
May not be the most viable argument (certainly is not ) but the fun factor does impact the longevity of a game.
And yes, whether it’s fun or not is completely subjective.
I think so.
Until then, ill use it
yup, should be patched out, doesn’t add anything.
You know whats would be better than patching a glitch that won’t create balance for the Lower tiers?
-Buff Lower tiers.
You know what would be better than patching a glitch that isn’t stopping Top Tiers from being Top tiers?
-Nerfing the Top tiers.
In order to remove the DHC Glitch, Capcom would have literally overhaul the whole damn cast’s Super/DHC properties…which would take a long time to fix. It would be tougher than anything that they have patched so far. I guarantee you it will lead into some unintentional nerfs.
Honestly why do I want Capcom wasting their time nerfing supers instead of nerfing X-Factor across the board?
A lot of people are throwing the phrase “MvC3’s balance issues” around.
Really? “Balance issues”? plural?
MvC2 was a game where balance was “an issue”. In SFA3, once you brought V-Ism into play, balance became an issue too.
MvC3? Hsien Ko versus Dante? That’s not “an issue with balance”, its a bad matchup. There really is a difference.
Some characters will always end up better than others, because there is no such thing as a perfectly balanced game. For that reason, given enough time for the metagame to realize who’s who, those better characters will always be overrepresented in competitive play. It’s obvious why.
With or without the DHC glitch that is going to happen. You need to realize that. Once you do, you will also realize that assigning blame to the glitch for the natural consequences of the inevitably imperfect balance of the game (tiering and all that follows) is silly.
As it stands, the glitch is just another tool some characters have to deal damage in the game, the same way some supers are better than others and some teams DHCs have better sinergy with each other. As a way to deal damage, its a gimmicky one.
None of what you expect to change will change by removing the DHC glitch. Its just another mechanic, if an unintended one.
All of that being said, i wouldn’t mind if it went. I wouldn’t mind if it stayed either, but there really is no need to remove it. MvC3 tiers should read "Retarded characters, Awesome characters, Really good characters; btw these teams have good sinergy: "
